Luke Wholey's Wild Alaskan Grille
As the name implies, Luke Wholey's Alaskan Grille is a predominately seafood restaurant that has several fish based dishes on the menu. The restaurant has a separate section for children along with a bar menu that offers seasonal cocktails, a wine list and a special Draft list for beer. All of the beverages in the menu go well with the seafood on offer, but each can be ordered by the glass as well.
Luke Wholey's Alaskan Grille also boasts a separate sushi menu which is divided into a full 3 course meal. Traditional favorites include shrimp, eel, salmon, scallops, flying fish roe along with a variety of seafood rolls that range from shrimp and salmon to veggie and crab. The signature rolls on the menu include the Spider Roll which is filled with soft shell crab, fresh vegetables and sauces.

Really nice time. Fun and vibrant !
The oysters were not as good as usual. I ordered blue point and I KNOW they were not, but other food delicious
Amazing service, Amazing food, and a only in Pittsburgh amazing atmosphere.
We are from out of town and lucked into a reservation without knowing too much about the restaurant or location and couldn’t be happier with our experience. Wonderful food and great service even on a busy night. A little noisier than I prefer but I wouldn’t hesitate to come back on my next visit to Pittsburgh.
Entertaining friends from out of town. As native Marylanders we all know and love good quality seafood. This place is legit! Been here twice now since moving to PGH last fall. It hasn’t disappointed yet. Fried oysters are the best I’ve ever had. And they’re HUGE!! My friend was obsessed with his soft shell crab Bloody Mary. Said it was fried perfectly. The catfish bites were tender and so flavorful. The spicy marinara mussels were on point. Their cover were craft and delicious. I had a house margarita and it was amazing. Atmosphere is a little loud for a romantic date, etc.
We always make it a point to eat at Luke Wholey's at least once while we are in Pittsburgh. We stumbled on it a few years ago and were very impressed. With so many choices in Pittsburgh, we continue to return there...says a lot about the restaurant!!!
Came to see the performer on Sunday. You used to have her in the main dining are and that was great. Last week you moved them upstairs. Could barely hear them. Put them back downstairs.
Excellent— the staff is always friendly and the service is quality. Food can be counted on to be delicious and well priced. A go to spot for seafood!
We wanted to have oysters on a half shell for our 30th (pearl) anniversary. The food did not disappoint! Delicious! The service was very slow. We had reservations and it took about 10 minutes to be offered a drink. We also had to flag down the server for additional items and water. Cool vibe atmosphere on a busy Sunday afternoon with the doors open to the street.
Great food and service! Live music was too loud for carrying on conversations but others seemed to enjoy!
We both ordered seafood bisque and crab legs. The bisque was luke warm and only had one hunk of actual meat. The flavor was good but I prefer chunks of seafood. My crab legs were cold and hard to crack open because they were too soft. Overall decent but not overly impressed. If I'm going to spend $150 on dinner I'll probably do it somewhere else.
Wonderful to be able to go out with our friends on a double date to celebrate being Covid vaccinated. Great food & great service! Our waiter Yo was awesome and he took this great pic of us. We will be back!
Table for 2 and squeezed 3 people on, dark area, spent $144 very expensive, service slow but wasn’t in hurry, wouldn’t reserve table again.
The food was very good! The price is a bit high, however I don't mind spending more when the food is good, and it was! However the service was very slow, and the main thing that would keep me from coming back was the bathroom was a disgrace. It was not clean and was a shared bathroom! The paper towels were overflowing in the garbage can. And it just felt dirty being in there.
As always Luke and staff do not disappoint!!
Sword fish special and crab cakes were entrees this time along with sushi and l crab dip.
I ordered two different things and they had neither available( no crab no oyster). I then ordered two items for my meal and only received one. My waitress forgot to enter the second order.
The food was delicious! Three of us had the sea bass and it was prepared perfectly—one of the best I’ve had anywhere! Everyone enjoyed their meals! The crab dip appetizer was very good also. It was a bit loud due to a boisterous table nearby but it added to the experience.
Traveling from Buffalo - great experience. Highly recommend! Everything was fresh and flavorful.
I made a reservation online that didn’t transfer to their books. Luckily it wasnt busy so we were seated within 10 minutes. Food was great. Service was ok. Servers seemed overwhelmed and didn’t check back in frequently to refill drinks etc. ambiance was great but it gets pretty loud in there so beware. Servers were friendly.
The food here is EXCELLENT! You can not get fresher fish in Pittsburgh. Also try their Catfish bites appetizer and Lobster Bisque, it is the BOMB! Their Crab Topped Bloody Mary drinks are also something special - definitely a must visit in Pittsburgh!
The food was incredibly good! The fried Chesapeake Bay oysters were some of the best I've ever had and I've had a lot! Lightly battered, lightly fried and so fresh tasting! The sautéed calamari in a mild marinara was wonderful. The freshly baked warm roll filled with lobster meat was amazing! Everything was sooooo good! I've forgotten our server's name, but she was very sweet and attentive! A beautiful day and a wonderful meal!
Excellent - high quality food. Excellent service. Great prices!
The lobster bisque was fabulous! The server was friendly and efficient. Only complaint is that the bread on our sandwiches was rather hard and didn't seem fresh.
Great service. All the dishes we ordered we excellent. A bit loud.
Always delicious! I like the whimsical sea theme. But there should be a more upscale area to match your upscale food and prices. The music was just a bit high. Coffee is great.
Table was ready when entered restaurant. Food and service were excellent. Great atmosphere.
Excellent, fresh seafood and outstanding service. It’s also nice that Luke comes out and talks to his diners. Had a wonderful time celebrating my daughters 17th birthday
I highly recommend giving this place a try
Great dinner and dining experience!
We came in for appetizers and ended up having a meal and dessert - everything was amazing! And we haven’t been out in a long time, so it was the perfect reintroduction to dining out!
Excellent service great food
Delicious food! Plenty of food for the price! Loved the mussels. Atmosphere was great too!
Food and service was great!!
Food was great! Bathroom could have been a little cleaner.
My first visit and I wonder what took me so long! Outstanding food and friendly and fast service. Covid protocols were followed.
Excellent experiment! Delicious Chilean sea bass as a special!
Date with my wife of 54 years - great experience
The best place to get fresh fish and seafood in downtown Pittsburgh - gotta try Luke Wholeys! We even got to meet the owner on our last visit. Very down to earth, very friendly service, good food, excellent Lobster Bisque! :)
The fish sandwich and lobster sandwich s were amazing! We honestly loved everything we had that evening. Including the desserts. All the food is amazing!! I recommend this place for the whole package of goodness!!!Thank you Luke and staff👍👍👍👍❤️
