Luke Wholey's Wild Alaskan Grille
As the name implies, Luke Wholey's Alaskan Grille is a predominately seafood restaurant that has several fish based dishes on the menu. The restaurant has a separate section for children along with a bar menu that offers seasonal cocktails, a wine list and a special Draft list for beer. All of the beverages in the menu go well with the seafood on offer, but each can be ordered by the glass as well.
Luke Wholey's Alaskan Grille also boasts a separate sushi menu which is divided into a full 3 course meal. Traditional favorites include shrimp, eel, salmon, scallops, flying fish roe along with a variety of seafood rolls that range from shrimp and salmon to veggie and crab. The signature rolls on the menu include the Spider Roll which is filled with soft shell crab, fresh vegetables and sauces.
Rich and creamy, with chunks of sweet lobster meat. Served topped with creme fraiche, and a side of toasted crostini
Poached shrimp, avocado, & cucumber
Choice of lightly breaded and fried, or sauteed. Served with fresh basil marinara
Great service, good food, free birthday dessert and they have White Claw!
Our server probably could have gotten a few more drink orders from us but she never came back after she dropped off the food. Lots of Penguin fans pre-game and once they left staff seemed to relax around the hostess station.
Met a few friends that came in from out of town. It’s my first trip there and I will be back. The Bloody Mary was great and decorated with a lot of extras. I had the ahi tuna salad and it was very fresh and delicious. Everything was better than expected.
High prices for average food
Oh boy, this place went downhill.
Great service. Food prep and presentation less than expected. Food quality average at best. With Wholey’s name and access to great seafood I expected much more.
Traveling through on vacation. Our waiter, Evan, was phenomenal—attentive and engaging. Food was great. Would highly recommend
Great seafood for lent very fresh. Oysters are the best in Pittsburgh. Like the owner did them himself and we had the chance to meet him. He is great Fishermen.
Delicious fresh food!
Food was very good and service was great
Excellent as usual
This was our first visit to Luke Wholey’s Wild Alaskan Grill. It was a more casual bar experience, and we could have dressed more casually than we were. We had their appetizer special of fried oysters, which were delicious. Our entrees of swordfish and halibut were excellent as well. I want to take my kids back for the sushi menu during lunch. My husband is not a fan of sushi, but I saw some of the other customer’s plates, and I want to return. It was a good choice for us since we both like seafood.
Casual business meal with colleagues
We went on a girls lunch, wanted to give this place a shot because of what we’ve heard. Our food was awful, shrimp was very though and overcooked, fish sandwich was also overcooked, over battered, and over greasy, our fries tasted old. Very, very disappointing!! And bill for lunch was $90, very overpriced!!!
My waiter didn’t explain any menu options and the food was very bland
Our server Kevin was fantastic in every way. He took my phone call for the reservation and I told him it was my son’s engagement lunch and he assured me he would take care of our party. Food was delicious, atmosphere was awesome, drinks were great and service was over the top!
Great place to come, nice service , great food.
Service was great, oysters too. That’s the end of the good news. Cesar salad was awful and entre was cold. No flavor here🙁.
Delicious food and great service. Valentine's weekend and it was packed (reservations only) but even still we didn't have to wait long for food or drinks. Their staff was working together like a well oiled machine. Will definitely go back and would definitely recommend.
Went on a very busy Valentine's night. They didn't miss a beat. The food was great and our service was excellent 👍
Great environment, food, and service for a Valentine’s Day date night. Would come back and recommend to others 110%!
Our server was excellent as well as the food!!
Our server was quick and got us to our game with plenty of time. The food was amazing. My bf had the Alaskan king crab and it was so fresh. My swordfish was finished in a few bites. I was floored with how good it was. Definitely recommend and will come back.
The service was very slow. We were waiting for a friend and initially attributed the lack of service to the fact that our friend was running late, but it continued to be slow even after she arrived. The bottle of wine we ordered from the wine list (cabernet sauvignon) was not the one brought to our table (cabernet franc); apparently the wine listing is a mistake according to our server. One of our wine glasses was dirty, which we didn't notice until the wine was poured. The server took the partially filled glass away and replaced it with a clean empty glass. She didn't offer to bring another glass of wine to replace it. The food was OK, plentiful but nothing outstanding. With wine and a tip, we paid $50 per person, so it was expensive for what it was. We're glad we tried it, but we won't be going back.
Nice dinner out, no sushi available due to problem with rice
Great seafood and prepared in great ways. Anybody related to the Wholey family has to have great seafood but Luke's went beyond our expectations.
I ordered the shrimp volcano. The mashed potatoes were very close to instant, if they were not. I have eaten here previous and the potatoes were excellent...
The food and service were great. I will definitely be back!
The whole staff was friendly and polite. The service was quick, and our server kevin was awesome! and I work as a server at a seafood and steak place so I can be a bit judgy; but I thought he and the whole staff were wonderful. My fiance's risotto was a bit overcooked but everything else was perfect. And the drinks were absolutely amazing and shes even harder to impress than I am. It was an interesting style and there were alot of things to catch your eye. Both the FOH and BOH deserve my thanks, and I look forwarding to coming again some time!
There was a very rowdy group next to us which made it hard to talk (at noon on a Sunday). Otherwise, great place!
The restaurant week dinner offerings were spectacular and delicious. The only negative is that the lobster risotto was a little dry and bland. It was the end of the evening so that may be the reason why.
Been here a few times now and always impressed. The food, the service, and the overall atmosphere are bar none. Looking forward to our next visit!
Excellent all the way around. Dont sleep on the sushi! Cant wait to go back!
Loved our server. He didn’t bother us too much but always made sure we were taken care of. The restaurant week menu was amazing. I had lobster bisque (sooo good), bacon wrapped scallops and lobster risotto (amazing) and finished with an amazing dessert. We loved it. Thank you!
Food was delicious. Service was fast and Luke even came over at the end of our meal to thank us for coming in
Restaurant week! It was great food, very good service. We were in and out in a timely manner.
Went for restaurant week. The meal was wonderful. One of the best desserts I have ever had!
Superior service!!! Great food!! Even the owner checked on us!! WOW! Our first visit....we are sure to return very soon!!!
So glad we found you for Restaurant Week. All the food was excellent, but the desserts were out of this world!
