Luke Wholey's Wild Alaskan Grille
As the name implies, Luke Wholey's Alaskan Grille is a predominately seafood restaurant that has several fish based dishes on the menu. The restaurant has a separate section for children along with a bar menu that offers seasonal cocktails, a wine list and a special Draft list for beer. All of the beverages in the menu go well with the seafood on offer, but each can be ordered by the glass as well.
Luke Wholey's Alaskan Grille also boasts a separate sushi menu which is divided into a full 3 course meal. Traditional favorites include shrimp, eel, salmon, scallops, flying fish roe along with a variety of seafood rolls that range from shrimp and salmon to veggie and crab. The signature rolls on the menu include the Spider Roll which is filled with soft shell crab, fresh vegetables and sauces.
Lobster, creme fraiche, toasted crostini

Romaine hearts, grape tomatoes, croutons, house Caesar. Parmesan, romano, asiago
Always awesome !
Crab cake with sautéed kale was excellent.
Our server Luke was only amazing. He was attentive and professional were being personable.
Do not get the cod sandwich
Such a cool place in a special part of the city. Service was top notch and the food was amazing! Our drinks were always full and even with a table of 7 the night before a Steelers game, our food came out really fast. The tuna and swordfish were fantastic.
Next time I’m hoping to not be pregnant so I can get my hands on the infamous Bloody Mary :P
Thanks to your team for a great evening!
Bloody Mary's were outstanding. Poor Boy shrimp sandwich and Catfish were also excellent iin size and taste. Will definally go back to dine soon..
Best Bloody Mary in Pittsburgh
We have been here twice and both times the food was excellent!
Food Is always on point, Staff has been exceptional everytike that I've been there.
We had a lovely waitress, she was very pleasant. We enjoyed the meal and will definitely be back.
Was disappointed, Wholly's is my go to place in Pittsburgh, had a 5:30PM reservation, were seated and immediately told we had to order the kitchen was closing at 545PM. Not happy, rushed through dinner, we weren't even offered dessert. Menu was limited
The best seafood and service in the Pittsburgh area.
Highly recommend getting the spiked slushees, mussels, lobster roll and the crunchy roll. Spider roll was okay. Great food all around and service!
Came to town on a work trip - always wanted to come here I grew up here but moved away 35 years ago - had so much good food and drinks with my friend who lives and frequents here that we made a reservation to come back for dinner - on same day! Lol - the waitstaff was amazing ( Sophie ) and the food as well. I lovvve the artwork and industrial open feel of the place. My daughter just started at PITT and I foresee many reunions there when I come to visit - I m a flight attendant and told my whole crew that’s where they should go on our layovers - . Thanks for bringing such a classy cool authentic dining experience to the burgh .
Choice for sea food lovers was excellent, food delicious. Wish had more choices for those not able to eat fish or seafood. I was with three seafood lovers.
Service was great, food was hot when served. Everything was wonderful.
Lobster Rolls ! Ohhh my
Went in on a Saturday so it was very busy. Staff was very nice. Food was amazing. I got the hot lobster roll. YUM! Got an alcoholic slushy as well and definitely recommend. It was very noisy in there. But that’s probably my only complaint.
Very good food! Service was excellent. Would definitely recommend.
You need to cook you fish longer , I order the catfish nuggets
The modest portion of Alaskan salmon I was served was bland and, although described as Crab "Stuffed" it was served with little more than a tablespoon of crab pieces dolloped on top of the fish. "Stuffed", in my book, means OVER-filled, not barely there. The coleslaw was dead dry, nothing but some cabbage salad ingredients, minced and packed into a ramekin, and let me stress the words "dead dry." My daughter, who is a veteran of nearly 20 years in the military and so, is not unfamiliar with bad cooking, called it "terrible." Also, the seats in the open seating area need to be reupholstered. Because the seats are made with a cheap "soft" grade foam which collapses quickly, (I have experience as an upholsterer), all three of us were uncomfortable and sore far before the meal was over, and all eventually felt like we were sitting on hard wood boards.
Lastly. the high ceilings provide an acoustic reverberation that steadily increases as the place becomes more crowded so that, by the end of the evening I could not hear either of my dining companions, unless they spoke at a low shout!
I feel that a place that trades on the cache of a locally respected name like "Wholey's" ought to do better than this.
Very consistent with the food, the staff is very friendly.
Food was good. Nice variety of items on the menu. Our waiter had issues. Didn’t get our order right, two entres well after the 1st two came, salad not brought out until after the late entre was delivered by someone else…seemed pricey for the kind of service we got. Its a shame because the name on the establishment is well known. Hoping it was an employee issue and not a norm because it is a nice venue.
Happened to come upon this on Open Table as looking for a last minute reservation and one was open at 6:00 pm. We had the yellowtail sushi roll for an appetizer, and the Baja shrimp volcano and hot pepper crusted ahi tuna. Both were excellent. Shout out to our server Michelle who gave me a Bloody Mary on her after hearing us talk about brunch drinks and how much I enjoy a good Bloody. Cool vibe. Will definitely be putting in the rotation.
The patio was perfect for a beautiful night! Perfect weather, delicious oysters, fresh sushi. One of my top picks for dinner when I am in Pittsburgh.
Great food, great service
We tried most of their seafood offerings. Snow crab clusters were not that sweet. Fried oysters was outstanding though. Baja shrimp was a bit tough. Carolina or Georgia shrimp, though smaller, would have made the shrimp volcano dish more delicious. Eel roll was nicely done. The open air concept made us feel more safe concerning Covid. The restroom was not maintained and was out of hand drying tissue all evening.
Food was excellent! Our waitress Mia was very good she was friendly and great service! We will definitely go again
Was here with 7 of my family members for my birthday and the food and service was excellent! Will definitely go there again!
We went for a quick lunch and the food was great. The place was packed on a Sunday afternoon but the service was still quite good. The fish is always fresh and the prices are very reasonable.
Overall, the food and service was good! I had the crab legs and my boyfriend had the crab cakes. Drinks were great and our waiter was very nice. We didn’t have to wait long for our meal and it made my date night a success. I would recommend!
Calamari was "okay". Bisque was good. Breaded fish and fries was excellent (not greasy, huge pieces of fish). Special - Grilled Halibut was very good. Nestled on a huge cole slaw like bedding which was a bit too much slaw. But, the relaxed environment and super causal city feel is fun. Food is nicely priced for the value.
Phenomenal dinner from start to finish. The food was fresh and delicious
Better than you will expect
From sushi to Stuffed Crab, the menu has something for every taste and budget.
Restaurant closes at 6. My reservation was at 5 30
Host insisted I did not have a reservation. Waitress never picked up dirty appetizer plates nor asked if our food was ok horrible atmosphere there was a party upstsirs extremely loud. Overpriced
Food and service is great and the place is very nice. Only problem was that it was almost 90 degrees outside and they had the windows and doors open with fans but no air conditioning. We were sweating pretty bad through the meal and that’s not comfortable.
Each of us enjoyed our food. The seafood was fresh and tasty. The pasta special (Diablo) was decently spicy.
The fish was great. The bisque was great. The fries were great. The coleslaw was skimpy. The hoagie bread for the Lobster Roll was disappointing.
My food was good but my husband's food had a long piece of hair in it and my son's order was not placed so he got his food when we were already finished with ours. I was surprised the manager didn't even bother to come over and apologize for their mistakes. We will not be dining there again. Disappointed to say the least.
