Luke Wholey's Wild Alaskan Grille
As the name implies, Luke Wholey's Alaskan Grille is a predominately seafood restaurant that has several fish based dishes on the menu. The restaurant has a separate section for children along with a bar menu that offers seasonal cocktails, a wine list and a special Draft list for beer. All of the beverages in the menu go well with the seafood on offer, but each can be ordered by the glass as well.
Luke Wholey's Alaskan Grille also boasts a separate sushi menu which is divided into a full 3 course meal. Traditional favorites include shrimp, eel, salmon, scallops, flying fish roe along with a variety of seafood rolls that range from shrimp and salmon to veggie and crab. The signature rolls on the menu include the Spider Roll which is filled with soft shell crab, fresh vegetables and sauces.
We had a fantastic experience. Our waitress was so kind and checked on us often. but not too often. The food was incredible. I really enjoyed and will go back
Food and service was good. Seated on time. Ample portions.
Great seafood and bloody Mary’s !
Great service, great food. Portion for king crab legs too small, 2 for 55$
Great place on the Strip to eat! Best Bloody Mary in a long time.
Definitely a wonderful experience. Our server Monica was the best!! When asked about the lobster bisque, she said it was phenomenal. We happily agree. The food was amazing!
lots of fun; first time there; good crowd and vibe; reasonably priced fish sandwich; Prosecco; the lobster roll sandwich was great - wish it were a little bigger; service was just superb
The food was great and the customer
Great food and great date atmosphere. Service was also excellent.
The food was great, the wait staff was very friendly and attentive.
We ordered sushi. The rolls were mostly rice and sloppy looking. We tried rolls, sashimi and negril (however you spell that, lol) The menu felt a little overpriced for the quality of some items. Service was good, unfortunately I was sad to see we really weren’t social distanced. Everyone was placed in the same section and half the restaurant wasn’t being used.
The food is always amazing! We’ve been coming here for a few years now specifically for their brunch and the Steel city lobster roll. We were a little disappointed to see that this was removed from their new limited menu and that prices really skyrocketed since the last time we came. We ended up getting the regular lobster roll and it was still fantastic. Hopefully they will be bringing back their full menu soon!
Excellent food and service. I will return.
2 year wedding anniversary
kevin was the best server!!! Would come back just for him!!!
Luke Wholey’s is always a great atmosphere with exceptional food!
Great food. Great service. Cant wait to go back.
Third time at Luke’s. Amazing.
Even in COVID, food was phenomenal. Drinks were good and timely. I live in Charleston, SC, and visit Luke Wholey’s when I’m In Pittsburgh because it’s some of the best seafood I’ve had. There is a reason you need a reservation.
The waitress was great. Very friendly and professional. My husband had a huge fried catfish sandwich with Mac and cheese. They both had lots of flavor. I had the shrimp and chips. My shrimp were a little over cooked. All in all, the food was good. I didn’t like having to share the same bathroom as the men!
Went here on a much-needed date night after being cooped up in the house. We started with the lobster bisque soup--it was creamy and very flavorful! Loved the swirls on top. We also had 6 Maine oysters--one of the reasons I give the food a 4 is because they didn't have any selection of oysters left on a weekend, and that was one of our main reasons for going! The oysters we did have were delicious, and I really like their mignonette. Hopefully next time they'll have a wider selection.
For our actual meals, I had the soft shell crab street tacos and my boyfriend had the cod sandwich. I've personally never had soft-shell crab before, so I wasn't sure what the texture was supposed to be. I could definitely still feel the texture of the shell and it still made a crunch when I ate it. I'm not sure if "soft" shell crabs are supposed to still have that crunch, but nevertheless it was good, just a little chewy! They only put one corn shells around the tacos, even though the corn shells easily break. Usually with corn shells there's two. The waitress was kind enough to give me some extra on the side for the taco I took home, and it made great leftovers the next day for lunch. The boyfriend loved his cod sandwich, it was about as big as my head!
The ambiance was a little confusing. It was a little loud/chaotic but also a little fancy? But there were also big screens to watch a football game or two while you're there. Seems like the place doesn't know what type of restaurant it wants to be, it conveys a lot of different vibes from when you walk in the door to when you sit down and eat. Loved the art on the walls. Definitely "Wild" as the restaurant name implies.
We'll be back here for sure!
Birthday for my 7 year old grandson. He wanted sushi!
My tuna was underwhelming and meager in size. My girlfriend's salmon was very good.
This booking was for my daughter’s birthday. I’ve been a patron of Luke Wholey’s Wild Alaskan Grille since it opened. It is the best fresh seafood restaurant in Pittsburgh and an excellent choice for a casual dining experience. Most of Luke’s staff has been with him for many years. They are knowledgeable, helpful, courteous, and always looking to provide the best dining experience possible. Always a great choice to fill your seafood fix.
Very good sushi and the lobster bisque is not to be missed.
Excellent meal and service. Highly recommend. Great location and nice for dinner with family or friends.
Really great place for my moms birthday dinner! She had the volcano and was so happy
Phenomenal Food! Fried calamari, tuna fillets, fillers, king crab fresh and fantastic.Went for anniversary.Little louder thanbexpected but the food more than made up 4 it! Best tuna and calamari ever!
Everything was good, but I wish they separated their oysters from the shell when they shucked them.
Good service and great recommendations from the waitress.
We had a great experience at Wholey’s. It is very open to the fresh air. We had tasty fresh mussels and the big fish sandwich which was light and delicious. The service from Angie was so professional and efficient. All in all a very nice experience.
We celebrated our anniversary with our family. They put us in a 2nd floor private room which was great. The food and service was great. Would definitely go back.
The mussels were fantastic, as well as the sushi & sockeye salmon. The waitstaff were perfect!
Great service. Great food. Very compliant with the Covid rules that are in place currently.
The food was delicious. It was nice, open, and airy with the garage doors open. The only downside was the guy smoking a cigar on the bar side of the restaurant. Smoking should not be allowed since we are still technically inside.
Best fish restaurant in Western PA. The sushi is completely authentic, the fish is fresh to the hour, and the crab legs are the best. Cool environment and great service.
We came here to celebrate a birthday and we had a blast. Our group was seated in a private area up above the bar and we thoroughly enjoyed the room to laugh and dine. The food is priced great and the quality has yet to disappoint.
Service & food both excellent. This was our second trip here and will definitely return.
Been there twice now, and is quickly turning into one of my wife and I's, favorite spots! Fresh seafood, done right!!!!
King crab was excellent. Fried oysters spot on. Beer was cold.
Great happy we chose there
