Luke Wholey's Wild Alaskan Grille
As the name implies, Luke Wholey's Alaskan Grille is a predominately seafood restaurant that has several fish based dishes on the menu. The restaurant has a separate section for children along with a bar menu that offers seasonal cocktails, a wine list and a special Draft list for beer. All of the beverages in the menu go well with the seafood on offer, but each can be ordered by the glass as well.
Luke Wholey's Alaskan Grille also boasts a separate sushi menu which is divided into a full 3 course meal. Traditional favorites include shrimp, eel, salmon, scallops, flying fish roe along with a variety of seafood rolls that range from shrimp and salmon to veggie and crab. The signature rolls on the menu include the Spider Roll which is filled with soft shell crab, fresh vegetables and sauces.
My waiter didn’t explain any menu options and the food was very bland
Our server Kevin was fantastic in every way. He took my phone call for the reservation and I told him it was my son’s engagement lunch and he assured me he would take care of our party. Food was delicious, atmosphere was awesome, drinks were great and service was over the top!
Great place to come, nice service , great food.
Service was great, oysters too. That’s the end of the good news. Cesar salad was awful and entre was cold. No flavor here🙁.
Delicious food and great service. Valentine's weekend and it was packed (reservations only) but even still we didn't have to wait long for food or drinks. Their staff was working together like a well oiled machine. Will definitely go back and would definitely recommend.
Went on a very busy Valentine's night. They didn't miss a beat. The food was great and our service was excellent 👍
Great environment, food, and service for a Valentine’s Day date night. Would come back and recommend to others 110%!
Our server was excellent as well as the food!!
Our server was quick and got us to our game with plenty of time. The food was amazing. My bf had the Alaskan king crab and it was so fresh. My swordfish was finished in a few bites. I was floored with how good it was. Definitely recommend and will come back.
The service was very slow. We were waiting for a friend and initially attributed the lack of service to the fact that our friend was running late, but it continued to be slow even after she arrived. The bottle of wine we ordered from the wine list (cabernet sauvignon) was not the one brought to our table (cabernet franc); apparently the wine listing is a mistake according to our server. One of our wine glasses was dirty, which we didn't notice until the wine was poured. The server took the partially filled glass away and replaced it with a clean empty glass. She didn't offer to bring another glass of wine to replace it. The food was OK, plentiful but nothing outstanding. With wine and a tip, we paid $50 per person, so it was expensive for what it was. We're glad we tried it, but we won't be going back.
Nice dinner out, no sushi available due to problem with rice
Great seafood and prepared in great ways. Anybody related to the Wholey family has to have great seafood but Luke's went beyond our expectations.
I ordered the shrimp volcano. The mashed potatoes were very close to instant, if they were not. I have eaten here previous and the potatoes were excellent...
The food and service were great. I will definitely be back!
The whole staff was friendly and polite. The service was quick, and our server kevin was awesome! and I work as a server at a seafood and steak place so I can be a bit judgy; but I thought he and the whole staff were wonderful. My fiance's risotto was a bit overcooked but everything else was perfect. And the drinks were absolutely amazing and shes even harder to impress than I am. It was an interesting style and there were alot of things to catch your eye. Both the FOH and BOH deserve my thanks, and I look forwarding to coming again some time!
There was a very rowdy group next to us which made it hard to talk (at noon on a Sunday). Otherwise, great place!
The restaurant week dinner offerings were spectacular and delicious. The only negative is that the lobster risotto was a little dry and bland. It was the end of the evening so that may be the reason why.
Been here a few times now and always impressed. The food, the service, and the overall atmosphere are bar none. Looking forward to our next visit!
Excellent all the way around. Dont sleep on the sushi! Cant wait to go back!
Loved our server. He didn’t bother us too much but always made sure we were taken care of. The restaurant week menu was amazing. I had lobster bisque (sooo good), bacon wrapped scallops and lobster risotto (amazing) and finished with an amazing dessert. We loved it. Thank you!
Food was delicious. Service was fast and Luke even came over at the end of our meal to thank us for coming in
Restaurant week! It was great food, very good service. We were in and out in a timely manner.
Went for restaurant week. The meal was wonderful. One of the best desserts I have ever had!
Superior service!!! Great food!! Even the owner checked on us!! WOW! Our first visit....we are sure to return very soon!!!
So glad we found you for Restaurant Week. All the food was excellent, but the desserts were out of this world!
Great good Kevin is AWESOME!! Restaurant week menu great Lobster risotto 👎🏽 Was more like stood rice not creamy no lobster but everything else’s was PHENOMENAL
All 3 courses were outstanding-the lobster bisque, bacon wrapped scallops and chocolate torte.
Food was great! Our waitress was super friendly.
I was super excited to return to restaurant week after my last restaurant week experience here. Unfortunately this time I was disappointed. The bisque was amazing as usual. My friend and I both got the scallops. Our plates were night and day. His risotto had a lot more seafood than mine. Mine was cold. Dessert was good. He was disappointed that his chocolate torte had coconut on it, but he said it was good. I think the biggest change was service. Much different than my last time there. Not engaging.
Food and service were absolutely amazing!!! The menu for restaurant week, was delicious and we will return for more.
Sushi was amazing, dessert was good. Everything else was way over salted or no flavor at all. Risotto horrible. Recommend only for sushi
The service and atmosphere were great, we were there for resturant week and the scallops were slightly overcooked along with the risotto being extremely salty. Overall I would come back and give the place another shot as I’ve heard great things.
For my first time visiting, I impressed by the many menu options. I just happened to be there during Restaurant Week and had the option to choose from that pre-selected menu. The service was extremely slow on the day I visited (January 11, 2020). Our server informed us their was a large party in their back room which was why things were slow. While I understand, the staff must attend to large groups, I do not believe that should take away from my experience in the restaurant. I had the banana martini (very tasty!). I asked for a second one and had to ask my server twice about it as it took some time for me to actually get it. I received my soup prior to my meal and my friend never received her salad. Our entrees came out before they got their salad, we again had to ask the server about this. The food portion sizes are decent but felt like the food lacked flavor. Both the salmon, steak, and catfish nuggets we ordered had no seasoning on it at all. I love seafood and was so excited to visit this restaurant but left filling dissatisfied. Perhaps it was just a busy night that took away from the experience and quality, but I do not have any intention on returning.
Overall, the experience was fine. First of all, our dinners came out immediately after the appetizers so we never really got an opportunity to enjoy the appetizer. We were dining for two and then one of our meals came out cold. The waiter seemed shocked and surprised but did send it back to the kitchen to warm it up. Once I received the hot dish, the meal was very good. Our waiter was not very attentive at all and we had to track him down a few times. Overall, not a bad experience but certainly not a great one and particularly for the money. ( also...no apology from the kitchen or the manager either)
Had the lobster Mac and cheese. Great taste and not too heavy. Just the right portion. Wife loved the martini!. This was my fourth visit... I'll be back.
I am new to Pittsburgh so I asked my sorority sister to recommend a great place for seafood and this was her pick. Drinks, sushi, crablegs and dessert... all amazing. The service was amazing too!
We went to Luke Wholey's for the king crab legs. They arrived only warm, and within minutes were cold. Luckily our server, seeing our dismay with the meal, brought another order without our asking, which was hotter and more enjoyable. Restaurants should provide the butter warmer with the candle underneath to keep the butter hot. For the price of the King Crab legs these days, that small step would make for a much more enjoyable meal! We enjoyed everything else at the restaurant!
Crab legs extremely delicious! Hamburgers great and crab cake salad good. Ty!
The food was great. I wish the oysters were scrubbed a little bit more but I can handle that. We didnt have time for a drink, but the drink menu was impressive as well.
