Luke Wholey's Wild Alaskan Grille

As the name implies, Luke Wholey's Alaskan Grille is a predominately seafood restaurant that has several fish based dishes on the menu. The restaurant has a separate section for children along with a bar menu that offers seasonal cocktails, a wine list and a special Draft list for beer. All of the beverages in the menu go well with the seafood on offer, but each can be ordered by the glass as well.
Luke Wholey's Alaskan Grille also boasts a separate sushi menu which is divided into a full 3 course meal. Traditional favorites include shrimp, eel, salmon, scallops, flying fish roe along with a variety of seafood rolls that range from shrimp and salmon to veggie and crab. The signature rolls on the menu include the Spider Roll which is filled with soft shell crab, fresh vegetables and sauces.
Sushi Grade Ahi Tuna*

The food was very good and the service was good even though the restaurant was packed.
Okay. Nothing to write home about. One of our guests liked his swordfish very much. I tried a taste. It was very tender but a bit dry
Excellent menu and service, delicious entrees, and wonderful atmosphere.
Long time friends in from Florida Best. Bloody Mary in the tri state area
Good place to eat if you like seafood; clam chowder and lobster bisque were exceptional. Not so Sur about the quality of the sushi, and the co fish and chips could have used more seasoning on the fish and less on the fries (which I would have preferred to be steak fries instead of regular fries). High ceilings make for an enlarged sound canvas for amplifying the mostly happy customers.
Food was great! Our server was great as well. The manager/host was very rude...we almost left without ordering anything because of his attitude and the first impression he made. I'm glad we didn't leave because the food was excellent but he was a total D.
This is our favorite restaurant in the Strip. The entrees are delicious, we've always had good experiences at Luke Wholey's
Food was delicious. The muscles, shrimp scampi, ahi tuna and the children's grilled chicken was excellent.
Server Kevin was great. Apps were good lobster Mac n cheese was way to dry
Great food and excellent service, but marred by a dog barking through our entire visit. We visited again as an anniversary to a date years ago. The menu and wine list have lost some luster, but the food and wine offered were still top-notch. It would have been nice to chat during our meal, but someone brought their very loud dog and made normal conversation nearly impossible. Our server was very knowledgable and service was prompt. Go when there are no barking dogs!
Service was incredibly slow with long waits for our server Kevin to come to the table at each stage of the meal. He spent at least 10 minutes chatting with a nearby table while we waited at one point. One dish was great once it arrived but the other dish (crab legs) was mostly cold, still frozen in spots, and full of water. Our server never came to check on us for me to tell him and never asked how the food was. It took at least 30 minutes for the main meal to arrive after being ordered - imagine they were trying to find crab legs in the Freezer or the store across the street! Never got several items like extra napkins as promised and drink refills were hard to come by.
The food and service was very good. I had the crab cake sandwich and it did not contain a lot of filler. Someone at our table had the ahi tuna sandwich and they said it was really good.
Lobster roll was fantastic! Sushi was very fresh! Loved the open doors, lovely dinner :)
This place is extremely overpriced, and the food is mediocre for the price you pay. I live in the neighborhood, and this was my first time here, for a family dinner. There were seven of us, and three of us ordered the identical entree. When the food came out, only two of the three identical entrees was brought to our table. The server came back and asked if everything was OK, and we told her we were missing an entree. Instead of apologizing, she said it would be right out. She offered to bring my son soup or a salad, but he declined because he believed her statement his meal would be right out. At least 25 minutes went by, and still no dinner for my son. Everyone in our party was pretty much finished eating. I finally had to go say something to the server, who said she made a "simple mistake." Several minutes later, the manager came over and apologized, and said he would comp the meal. This restaurant is in the Strip District, which is a huge attraction to tourists who come to visit Pittsburgh. I would avoid this place if I were them! Even though I live about three blocks from Luke Wholey's, I will find another better place to take my out-of-town guests.
I love the food.... although it does not really have Alaska's Kings crab
Fresh food, seasoned and prepared excellent. Friendly server. Great service.
We enjoy the food, the atmosphere, and the service. It's a good place to dine and have fun!
Wonderful service…prompt, attentive, accommodating but didn’t hover. Answered all questions…made suggestions. Didn’t rush us.
Shrimp tacos were outstanding…definitely will get them again. House salad was a very generous size. Very fresh and a pretty presentation.
We were there prior to Covid and enjoyed the mussels.
Birthday dinner. The food was exceptional. Definitely worth the effort to get there (came from 1.5 hrs away)
Excellent, attentive service!!! The food was AMAZING…we will definitely be back!!
It was so delicious!!!
Feels great to eat out again!!
Stuffed King Salmon was excellent as was the Shrimp Volcano. Calamari and clam chowder were also outstanding. Service was great.
Great seafood at a fantastic price. Will be back in October for the king crab!
My significant other and I always wondered why we never went to this spot when walking past it during random Strip mornings - now we know why. One of my least favorite meals I’ve had in Pittsburgh (especially when expecting a good meal because of the name attached to the spot!). Sushi and entree were sub par at best. Drinks were what you’d expect at a dive bar. Service was *shrug*. Good* spot for a pre-Steelers/Pens/Pirates game drink and apps (not what we were after), but otherwise not worth your time. If you want to spend $$ on a night out, tons of other places within walking distance to go.
Amazing experience! Great food, great staff!! Will be back again!
Food and service was amazing. Thank you Monica! We had a great time and can’t wait to go back.
We had a wonderful lunch, we will be back!!
Sushi was small and below average. $8 for a small sushi roll? Your not Umi. My moms crab cake sandwhich didn’t even come with a side. It was extra. Tourist trap
As always, perfect experience at Luke’s! Love this place!
Great service & food! This is a really good place to get some really good seafood!!!
Long wait for food but server was nice and friendly. Food was good but not worth the price.
Our favorite place to eat! Best sushi and crab cakes in the city!
Food was good but not over the top for the price.
Disappointed. Service was slow and food took to long. Smaller menu options then prior times. This was our third time. The first two were awesome but not this one.
Love this place ! Every time we go it’s always a great experience
The food was amazing!! It’s perfect for a date. Couldn’t of been happier with the overall environment and staff.
We always enjoy Luke Wholey. Great experience and great food.
