Luke Ratings and Reviews
Both food and cocktails were excellent. We tried the flamenkuchen which was crisp and savory, the gumbo was dark and rich. The pork banh mi sandwich at lunch was very tasty. the shrimp etouffe special was not quite as good as everything else we tried. The server was very knowledgeable and attentive without being obtrusive. They have a happy hour with half price cocktails and 75 cent oysters that we will try next time we are in New Orleans.
I enjoyed a solid happy hour (50% off wine, beer, and cocktails) and delicious seafood items with 5 friends this past Saturday evening. The Crab & Corn Bisque, Shrimp & Crab "Etouffee," and Ricotta Gnocchi were particularly notable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
We showed up a little early for our reservation and got seated quickly. Kid friendly, as the table beside us had children that were a little exuberant, but it was during New Years weekend and no one seemed put out. The food came quickly and was on point. Large portions, so no one goes away hungry.I had the Brussel Sprouts and Jalapeño Grits for my dinner. Best I've had and they also gave me the recipe! Can't beat that for customer service. Great place to go for dinner and awesome food. Would definitely go back!
Luke has a great atmosphere with friendly wait staff. I was a little disappointed by the menu this time though. It seems that the seafood towers had changed and my favorite dish (the mussels) was gone. We also had a bit of a snafu with the timing of the courses, but the waiter was very apologetic and brought us some complementary beverages to make up for it. I'm always happy to go to Luke.
Delicious. Consistent and great service. Tragically attached to a mid level hotel with mid level guests who dine there. If you can see past that since it’s not Luke’s fault people think old sneakers are acceptable to wear to dinner, order the steak frites, Brussels sprouts or burger for lunch and you’ll never go wrong.
My husband had the shrimp and grits, which was excellent. I have some oysters on the half shell, which were very good and a crab omelet, which was OK. Lots of crab shell in the omelet and the accompanying fries were cold. Staff was very nice and tried hard.
Disappointed in Luke. My duck dish was fatty and underseasoned. The table next to ours complained about it as well. If John Beach served it on Top Chef, he would be eliminated. I realize he has stepped away from his restaurants and maybe to the detriment. The wait staff and manager were apologetic and didn't charge us for my entree. Nothing we ate there was a standout. Too many other great dining options in New Orleans.
We always enjoy our visit to Luke. The oysters on the half shell and the shrimp and grits were very good. The waiters and servers are always friendly. We were sat right at the front door, which was our least favorite place to sit, we really love sitting at the bar.
