Server was no where to be found half of the time. We were seated with a drink menu but no food menu for a solid 15 minutes. There was one server for the whole floor so we did a lot of waiting in between ordering drinks and food and more drinks. The food was okay but very overpriced for the quality and amount served. The appetizers were tiny and disappointing. The main course of wagyu was good but again very small and a little over done. At one point the valet came in walking around table to table asking if a set of keys belonged to anyone. Setting and ambiance was great, but the service and food was sub-par.

The restaurant does a good job for the most part with classic Italian seafood dishes, which I appreciate in LA's rather un-creative Italian bistro scene. Prices were on the very high side, however.

Where this restaurant falls down is on service. The waiters were terrible at checking on us, let alone being available within eyesight. They never explained any of the dishes and brought out the wrong main course. every service interaction involved flagging down a bus-boy to get one of the waiters.

The restaurant also has poor ventilation in the main restaurant. a decent amount of kitchen smoke makes its way into the dining area.

As a vegetarian I was disappointed that there wasn’t even one option for me in the standard menu. The restaurant was happy to accommodate but the options were limited. Basically a salad and a bowl of pasta were my options and they were tasty but overpriced. Same for my husband who is an omnivore - he had options but felt they were overpriced for what he received. It was also odd as the restaurant was rather barren and it was a Friday night. We are happy we gave it a try but doubt we will go back a second time.

First let me start by saying that the only reason this restaurant didn't get 5 stars was due to the service, not the food. The food was superb. The location was beautiful, an old theater building and patio beautifully restored/designed. But we never seemed to have a dedicated waiter, it took forever for them to even ask if we'd like a drink before ordering dinner, once they did they didn't ask if we'd like an appetizer with our drinks, they never offered bread (and this is an Italian restaurant!), and getting any attention at all was fairly hopeless. The restaurant was not crowded, there were at least 2 or 3 waiters who couldn't have been nicer - they just didn't seem to know anything about being waiters. I had indicated this was a birthday celebration on the reservation, but we had to tell them again, they didn't seem to know that. This was not an inexpensive meal, by the way, with drinks, appetizers, main courses and desserts totaling nearly $500 for 4 people. The food, excellent; the service, sub-par.

Our group tries a new restaurant every 2 months and really looks forward to this new experience. Tonight was unfortunately a disappointment. The building is cute and the mural on the wall is pretty. But the service and food is another story, It took a long time till we got menus and our drinks. The drinks were not good and had to return couple of times. The appetizers were ok and nothing to brag about. The foods got to the table mostly cold even the $92 steak but everyone was so hungry at this point that we just let it go. The portions are pretty small but since we ordered a lot of different things so it worked out ok. I think the restaurant can really improve if they get more help in the kitchen and on the floor. I don't think we would go back but the place has potential .

My family and I went to this absolute GEM of a restaurant recently to celebrate my birthday. From the moment we got out of our car, we were welcomed and ushered along a beautiful green pathway into this amazingly beautifully restored century old historic Santa Monica building. We instantly felt we were back in an Italian town, both by the decor and the waitstaff (who was incredibly attentive and knowledgeable about wines). Because we were a party of four, we decided to share many appetizers and pastas, and I'm so happy we did! We devoured the grilled Spanish octopus, the prawns with burrata on grilled bread and sea bream carpaccio. Next, we moved on to their pastas which were all sublime. The silken Lasagna di Mare and TWO ORDERS of Pasta con le Sarde were not to be believed.

The chef/owner is Michelin Star Chef Luigi Fineo, who could not have been more welcoming or friendly. While this is a relatively new restaurant (about a year old), we will definitely be returning again and again!

We went for the DineLA menu and had one of the best meals of our life. Every dish was perfectly prepared and balanced. We had a very well designed wine pairing. The service was excellent with a well paced meal. We have been mourning the end of Valentino, but Luigi's "gnudi" was a good as any dish we ever had at Valentino. Luigi is pretty expensive, but it will be our choice for special occasions from now on.

My first visit here in this new year 2019. Since I met this great Michelin Chef, it’s very difficult for me to be impressed with other Italian, French or New American chefs. I think he is jumping off the page. I had small surprise tonight when we just ordered as “his recommendations”. He remembered what I liked and requested before. All the dishes he chose tonight were our favorite and also missing. He is very customer care minded! He is so amazing!

The best Italian restaurant in LA. where Chef Luigi makes wonderful dishes and I am a huge of fan of his flavorful entrees. I've dined here many times (celebrated my Birthday and a friend's going away), and there is not one dish here that I don't like. Some of my favorites are the Lobster Ravioli, the Octopus, and Seared Hawaiian Prawns. They have a great dinner selection and I also went recently for Happy Hour. I had the oysters, Tartar and Bellini cocktail. I went on a Wednesday night where they had a live performer sing Latin music, Paolo. I even got up to dance with the artist as well as another guest who dances salsa. I'm also looking forward to the brunch menu to try. It's a beautiful space that has seating both inside and patio area. I love the patio area because it makes you feel like you are in an outdoor garden. I'll be sharing brunch photos in about a week and a half.

An absolute gem! An old church turned into an amazing restaurant. Beautiful entrance leads you to the back of the building to the patio area. Lovely and spacious with real artwork and a wall of herbs and plants that can be used in the kitchen. The restaurant interior is very impressive with its stained glass windows, large murals and small decor accents that bring new life to this old building. Modern with an old world vibe.

The cocktails are simple but enchanting in flavor and presentation. The food is absolutely amazing! Having sampled most of the menu I can tell you that each dish is beautiful, well thought out in preparation and presentation. Combinations of ingredients I haven't seen in other restaurants of this calibre and original takes on some familiar dishes. The high quality food is modestly priced which makes this a must and will for sure keep me coming back.

I came here for the first time, but I wanted to know earlier that such a nice restaurant is nearby! Not only the ambiance of the restaurant but also the carpaccio and the pasta were really delicious. Of course champagne and wine were great, too.
If you cant decide which restaurant to go to, you should come here!

The ambiance is important to me. This place gets the highest score for that.
Since I brought a friend who prefers small portions it all worked out just fine. Otherwise the portions are dainty, will be perfect for a first date when no one is interested in food as much as they would on a fifth. The biggest success was a misterious birthday dessert - light and delicately sweet.

I've been here few times and I love this place. I just went back for brunch today and I highly recommended. I think not many people knows about it but yes, they do have brunch on Sat 11-2pm and Sun 10-2pm. Everything on the menu is $10 or $12. That's right, you can try Michelin Star Chef Luigi Fineo's delicious pasta for $10-$12. Pasta was all delicious, and you should try one of the toast, too. My favorite toast is soft poached egg toast. Happy hour is also available daily 5pm-closing.

They do have few parking spots for free.

I visited for Saturday lunch with friend. We wanted something more than lunch with some nice wine. This restaurant welcomed us to order some dishes from dinner menu. Their service was so nice and they understood our needs and wants so well.
Michelin Chef Luigi was there even during the brunch time and he cooked all of our dishes. That made us so impressed.
How many famous Chefs cook during the brunch it lunch time in the famous restaurants? Many of them do not cook for brunch or lunch in general. Chef Luigi was checking all the dishes served to the customers and he cooked by himself for lunch and brunch.
All of the dishes I had today were so fabulous, of course!

The food is amazing. The service, was friendly, but slow and didn't quite have the professional attention of a full wait-staff we have become accustomed to. The chef came and met with us. We were there for a wine pairing, but there was limited explanation of the wine and the food and never together. The wine-make or seller should have been there.

This place is incredible. One of the best meals I've had in a very long time in a stunning setting, an old theater that has been diligently converted into a beautiful showroom for coastal Italian delicacies. Seafood forward menu is cooked and seasoned to absolute perfection. My wife got the sardine pasta which I normally steer clear of but it was quite good. The wine list and the selection by the glass is wonderful, with quite a variety from different regions of Italy.
