Luella's Southern Kitchen
Food was excellent as always this is my husband and I favorite spots. We are so glad they reopened we travel all the way from Naperville to support this business. We highly recommend them
Really really good food, incredible taste and quality. Service was great, as the staff was very nice. But it took an hour to get our food, as it seemed like they were overwhelmed with takeout orders.
The food was so comforting and good .I will be back!!
The Mac, then biscuits and gravy is a must try! My family also loved their chicken and waffles. Simple menu but everything is Good!
After placing order via QR code one whole meal was missing. Spoke with waitress and it was like speaking to the wall. I will not return.
Best meal I’ve ate in a long time! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Anytime I visit home (Chicago), I go to Luella’s Southern.
Food was amazing!! Not a big menu but this restaurant has everything I love. Mac n Cheese, fried chicken and waffles were delicious! The French toast was divine! I will definitely return soon!!
The greens were gross. Oily and brown very disappointing.
The food was absolutely amazing and the staff was so kind, helpful and courteous.
Our experience was unforgettable! The found was that ole time southern cooking that some of today's generation has missed out on because Nana or Grandma are not cooking like that anymore. The best waffles, shrimp & grits, and salmon croquettes we have had in a long time. Our only gripe was there was no orange juice to go with the excellent breakfast.
The food was ill-seasoned, the waiters and waitresses walked around bewildered, and it costs less to go to hell than the price of their food.
Great place. Large portions. The chicken was hot, crispy, and juicy. My kids loved the biscuits and the beignets.
Great food. Music was also great, created a nice ambiance.
Outstanding waffles and chicken. Servers were friendly and efficient. Great ambiance!
Great place. Would happily come again. There are many dishes I wish I could have tried!
The food was extremely delicious!!! We were visiting from South Carolina after seeing the restaurant on Hulu and it was more than what we expected!!! Thank you so much, the service and the food was exceptional. We will definitely be back.
Nice place with very good food I definitely will try it again for sure
Really loved this place. Made reservations for brunch and had a wonderful meal. I had the chicken & waffles while my wife had the pork belly entree and cheese grits for a side. Everything was absolutely delicious. Bought a bottle of champagne and orange juice for mimosas. A great way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. Will be back soon.
Great food and service!
Some of the best brunch food I had in a while. French toast is absolutely amazing......
Loooove the food and the staff were friendly and took good care of us!
The food was really great. I tried the chicken and waffles today.
It took a long time for the food to arrive which was fine. We were not in a hurry but I took a long time. They asked via reservations if it was a bday and it was for my wife but no mention of it or candles offered during dessert
Great homemade authentic southern food. Everything is fresh, innovative and tasty! Service was good and attentive
The restaurant needs a pick me up but The Food is absolutely divine. Highly recommended.
It wasn’t bad, I’d go again. It’s a little small (The dining area). I’m going to go in the evening next time to check out the dinner entrees.
The food was incredible and made fresh to order.
I don't think the comments in reservations are reviewed prior to patrons arrival. I asked for special seating because I would be arriving with a baby. The waiter seemed clueless to any requests or reservation. Then when we asked for a chair to put the carseat in, he said he didn't know if we could get an extra chair. There were only 2 other tables occupied and at least 3 other tables free! Needless to say, my boyfriend just grabbed another chair from another table. For this reason alone, I would not return and the service rating gets 2 stars.
I thought the food was good but very disappointed the brought out 2 spoonful of rice and made me pay an extra 4.00 to give me a complete bowl of rice. They drink menu suck but the food was good. I wish the chicken could be small but it was still worth the price. I will just ask for wings next time. The cream grits and gumbo was amazing, as well as, the waffles. The menu limited but it is good food. I don't like my tip to be automatic included in my bill.
Food was delicious but they are up prepared for the capacity. They were unable to provide water until another table left because they didn’t have enough water pitchers, then once I got a pitcher they were unable to provide a glass.. I had to problem solve for them and ask for a mug which they had plenty of that I could see from my table. But overall the food was delicious and if you want good chicken and waffles go for it. But maybe take it to go.
The food was great. I had the biscuits and gravy and my friend had the chicken and waffles. We made a reservation and were seated promptly. I love that the place is BYOB because it’s a lot cheaper to buy a bottle of champagne for brunch than ordering by the glass. However, it would be nice if they offered juice to purchase or note on the website that they don’t have any juice. The only thing I’m aware of them having to drink is coffee and coke.
The menu and ordering process is a hassle. The brunch menu is limited.
This a great place to eat with friends. They have amazing food and ambiance. The workers there were also so kind. I will definitely be back!
Luella's Southern Kitchen has long been my favorite neighborhood restaurant! Chef Reed prepares delicious food you savor with every bite and that you eat slowly to prolong the experience. He makes the best southern inspired food I've had outside of the south. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and I was thrilled to return to indoor dining. Cheers to Chef Reed and the Luella's team!
Never been here before, knew nothing about it, but heard it was participating in Black Restaurant Week. Although I saw nothing of a special for that, it was some real good southern cooking. We had some great fried chicken, collared greens, gumbo, pimento cheeseburger, Cajun fries, and Mac n cheese. No alcohol though.
Amazing biscuits and gravy and fried chicken like no other. Can't wait to come back for more.
