This is really an overlooked gem!
Though I frequented the previous restaurant this location “ The Wine Market” I had not been back since this new iteration opened several months ago.
I was pleasantly surprised. You still enter through the well stocked wine, beer, liquor store.
Dining area has been updated in a very colorful and comfortable motif. A shoulder high divider now neatly separates the bar from the dining area.
We were seated quickly. We ordered drinks which were delivered rapidly by our friendly waitperson. They still make a good and strong cocktail
The menu has starters, sides, large and small plates. Regardless of your level of hunger there is something tasty for you!
We started with really great French fries that we could stop eating. I had wahoo a fish you don’t normally see on menus. My dining partner had Corvina another uncommon ( at least in Baltimore) fish selection. Both were plated on different inventive combinations of flavorful vegetables. And both were delicious.
We were too stuffed for dessert.
The manager that night Jacob(?) saw us looking at wines in the store as we left.
There is a 15% discount for wine purchased before or after dining. He was extremely knowledgeable about the inventory.
After discussing what our tastes were he helped us choose two wine that were in our price point without being pushy or obsequious
I would not hesitate to return!
And very importantly there is lots of free parking right in front of the restaurant!
This place is a gem - great food, attentive service, beautiful dining room, outdoor seating (weather-appropriate).
Love the rebrand of Ludlow - another excellent meal there last night! The food and service were excellent with a top-notch, affordable wine to accompany. Always appreciate having a bottle shop on the way out to get items for the weekend.
Food was great and service was on point. The three of us had a cheese plate, burger, shrimp po boy, and beef sub. It was all delish, I wish we had room for dessert!
Yummy! All of raves about the food! Definitely going back!
Extremely slow service, even though restaurant was almost empty
A hidden gem. Good wine and drink options. Great appetizers (especially the fried oysters); wahoo and shortribs both wonderful; and great dessert list. And they have a parking lot!
Loved Ludlow. We had a great meal last night. Arctic char with chickpeas tomato’s abs tazikl , wonderful. Apps were great too ordered a bunch and loved them all.
This was our first visit since it changed from the Wine Market to Ludlow Market and was happily impressed. The setting is little changed but the food was markedly improved (and it wasn't bad to begin with). Great choices in appetizers and sharing plates and a good variety of entree's, with generous portions and everything tasting fantastic. You still enter the restaurant via a wine store so you can choose from a good selection of reasonably priced wines (or harder liquors if you'd like). The service was excellent and the overall experience was outstanding. We will definitely return
How sad that this restaurant is empty on a fall Friday night.
We've dined at Ludlow's twice and were frequent diners there when it was the Wine Market. The new chef at Ludlow's has a refreshing take on contemporary dishes. Also appreciate that one can make a meal out of their small plate items. Plenty of healthy variety.
Our waitress was so nice!
The service was terrible! We sat at a table in the bar. The bartender/server was not friendly. He did tell us about the happy hour specials. He said he would be back so we could get our order in before happy hour ended. He NEVER came back. The bar was not even busy. After 30-40 minutes we called the barback over to let him know that we wanted to order. He sent the hostess over to take our order. The bartender/server finally came back after we were almost finished eating. The person I was with I hadn’t seen in a few years so we weren’t in a rush but the lack of service was unacceptable. The food was decent so I would definitely recommend sitting in the restaurant and not in the bar area.
The service is excellent, as is the food. Good appetizers & choices of wines. Seating outside is great when weather permits!
Excellent innovative food. I had a beef sub, friend had corn soup and shrimp toast; both different and very tasty. Good service in an empty restaurant, although we had a late lunch. Ambience seems unchanged since the Wine Market— rough industrial. If we ever get good weather, the patio is great
My favorite local place, interesting menu and great cocktails! Always friendly and welcoming!
I’m pulling for this place to survive in the competitive Baltimore dining market. While the food was good, it wasn’t outstanding or special. The scallops were fresh and nicely prepared, served on top off some sort of micro greens, but the overall flavors were somewhat bland. The shrimp appetizer was good but again nothing special. The short ribs were also pretty good. We did not have dessert. Our waiter was excellent!
This was our first visit to Ludlow Market. Four of us enjoyed lunch choosing 3 different selections from the menu - griddled pork sandwich, sukiyaki beef sub sandwich, and the Cobb salad. Each item was well-prepared and enjoyable. We shared 2 sweets - lime coconut tart and a selection of ice creams. Yummy! Service was friendly and attentive.
Wanted to try replacement to wine market restaurant that we always liked. Ludlow look is the same. Food was delicious. Portions reasonable. Sevice was great. The improvement is that Ludlow has small plates/casual if your not in the mood for a big dinner. We shared 3 appetizers, all were a hit, the crispy chick peas were our favorite. 2 of us had the hanger steak. Cooke to our order. Very tasty 1 person had the scallops and 1 had the swordfish special. Every one was very pleased with their meal. Would definitely go back. This is a neighborhood gem. Nice patio seating on enclosed patio.
Loved Ludlow Market. We were always a fan of the Wine Market. We loved Ludlow Market just as much. The food was outstanding!! One of the best meals we've had in a while.
Service was brutal but the food was good. I live in the neighborhood but won't be back.
Food is delicious but depending on your order is the size of the portion.
Great but an $18 old fashioned bourbon! Hello we are not in NY! Really upset!
We were two couples and arrived on time for 7 PM reservation. The hostess told us that the kitchen was backed up, but we could wait in the bar. We could see that our table was ready and asked to sit there as the bar was quite crowded. We told her we were not in any hurry and would prefer to sit at the table and talk. She refused. And we stood around for about 10 minutes until she took us to the table. Our server was very nice, but overwhelmed and not very competent. At one point he asked if we are ready to order dessert when we had not yet received our main courses. One of us asked for a glass of wine, I want to. He tried that left. We had to chase him down to place the order. Everyone enjoyed your meal except for me. I ordered the scallops which were done perfectly except so heavily salted they were almost inedible. The restaurant was not crowded. We will not be returning.
The noise level is very quiet when dining outside!!! The new chef is outstanding. Our meals have been wonderfully delicious!!
The wine list was great and it was easy to make a reservation!! Also, best Swordfish I have ever had!!
Date night during restaurant week. Friendly service, good food. Only feedback was the pasta was a little too salty, not enough to stop eating, but noticeable. Will be back.
We had a delicious meal for restaurant week. There were no misses in our three meals. Fish and seafood cooked to perfection. Sauces were so good. Service was a little slow, but the food was fantastic.
We ate here many times when it was The Wine Market. This is a nice change, and great food that we came to expect. Our waiter was a little overly attentive, and I was dizzy from the sweeping away of all utensils between courses. Still, Restaurant Week is always a pretty good deal, and all of the courses had a lot of offerings, and great choices.
It seems very much the same as the former Wine Market which, in my opinion, is a good thing. The food is always interesting and delicious and the outdoor courtyard is a lovely quiet place on a nice summer evening. The dish that stood out for me was the Israeli Couscous Salad. It had fresh summer ingredients including avocado and a bit of a spicy hint. It was delicious.
One of our favorites. Previously the Wine Market Bistro. This was our first trip under new management and they appear to be continuing the excellent food experience we have become used to at this location.
Love sitting outside in the back and a beautiful evening. The service was great and the happy hour deals are worth the trip. The crunchy chickpeas are amazing!
We were underwhelmed with the transformation, which consists of a wall dividing the bar and restaurant along with painted red chairs. Menu was ok and the food was ok. I got the Tiki Pork which lacked in flavor and my husband got the hanger steak which was under cooked and he ordered medium rare. Dessert was good though. Strawberry bread pudding.
Great to see the place revitalized, but disappointed with the food which was under-seasoned and bland. Hope they can get the kitchen back to what it once was...
Ludlow is an instant neighborhood classic with the bonus of a parking lot which is SO convenient for the city. The hand crafted cocktails are great, but I also love grabbing a bottle of wine from the shop and having it for dinner. The menu is full of shareable items that are well portioned. My favorite items include the oysters, spicy chick peas, beef fat fries, and shrimp toast (oh, and lamb).
Reinvention of the Wine Market, which was always a treat. Great food and wonderful re-purposed industrial space. Glad they are back.
Ludlow was nice. Came after an Orioles game, we were dressed casual and it was very apparent that they placed us in the far back of the restaurant. Food was just okay. Oyster po boy was actually oyster sliders and the bread was dry and just overall below average meal.
The restaurant seemed visually chopped-up and more noisy.
The food was disappointing and wait staff seemed nervous.
Will return, however, not the "Wine Market" we loved.
Ludlow Market was such a wonderful experience! The food is absolutely amazing! The tiki pork and chicken were delicious. The fries are a must... complete perfection especially with the dipping sauces. The service is approachable and friendly. Very pleasant. Such a neighborhood gem. Can't wait to go back!
Enjoyed the new vibe and menu — the food and service were both excellent. The atmosphere was lively and there was a private function underway, yet we were still able to enjoy a quiet conversation among the four of us. The imaginative menu had something for everyone. My pork entree with pineapple and chili’s was outstanding! Wine selections from the adjacent market make it super simple to select a nice wine at any price point. Highly recommended!
