Lucio's BYOB & Grill Ratings and Reviews
This was our second visit. The service was a little slow and we waited a long time for our meal, but it was great -- never disappoints. There was a little mix-up with the wine menu, as our menus didn't have the correct list, but the waiter quickly got us a current list. We found a good bottle to order as we didn't BYOB.
I found this restaurant through a travel zoo deal. I was trying to plan a special dinner to propose to my girlfriend (she said yes). The staff was extremely helpful and the food was spectacular. The scallops were amazing, and it was the best rack of lamb I’ve had. It was a very special night in a perfect outdoor atmosphere.
Every one of our visits to Lucio's has resulted in an excellent overall experience. We had a party of four and all thoroughly enjoyed their three courses. The tuna was of extraordinary quality and the preparation was a rare sear that highlighted the quality and the flavor of the fish. Service was efficient and well versed in the menu and since this restaurant is a BYOB, he seemed very aware and appreciative of both of the bottles of wine that we had brought with us. All in all an excellent evening such that all of us agreed to return soon.
I ordered the rack of lamb and it was cooked to perfection. The meat had a wonderful flavor, was moist and just the right spices. For an appetizer, I ordered the crab cake which was also very good. It was served with tartar sauce and could have used a little more flavor, but at least it was mostly crabmeat and not breading. My dining partner ordered the hangar steak which he enjoyed just as much. The rack of lamb was a bigger portion of meat though, so I think he was a little envious. After dinner, we ordered the French press coffee which was also very good. I think the only criticism we would have is that for the casual environment and ambiance, the prices were pretty high. Also the cork fee for bringing a bottle of our own wine was pretty steep at $8, which seemed a little unfair - they don’t serve liquor.
Love Lucio's! Last night we dined on appetizers and desserts. We brought our own bottle of wine as their wine list is limited but features some first-class offerings. The crispy calamari was cooked to perfection and served with both pepperoncini butter and remoulade sauce, both delicious. The steamed clams and chorizo were flavorful and succulent. The cheese board featured three delicious cheeses including a sharp cheddar that was divine. And last but not least, we each had our own individual order of paper thin filet mignon carpaccio - too good to share. For dessert we ordered creme brûlée and bread pudding and ate every morsel. Although we dined inside last night, Lucio's offers a lovely outdoor deck perfect for dining in the fall. Our server Steven was delightful and knowledgeable. All in all, a great dining experience.
The staff was very attentive and responsive. Food was great. Great presentation of my hanger steak. It was cooked medium rare and tasted great. The Ahi tuna was well prepared. Pork loin was excellent, too. The brussel sprouts portion needs improvement. Overall, a great experience and able to converse without any interruption.
Had a great time. Food was amazing and the service was outstanding. Surprised my boyfriend with a creme brulee and one single candle. Thank you so much for making a birthday dinner so special. We hadn't been there for dinner in years, but happy to know the food and service is still great. Will definitely not wait as long to return.
Truly outstanding. We had 4 different starters and 4 very different main dishes so that we could taste each one. Nothing disappointed. The rack of lamb, filet and tuna tasted great and were cooked to the perfect temp. Only the salmon was slightly overcooked but it still had great flavors. Will definitely return.
Had the Barbara with heirloom tomatoes salad and the scallops and risotto for the entree'. Both were outstanding. Also, Melvin, our waiter, could not have been better. This was my first time there and will be back. Also, LOVE to ability to bring your own wine in!!!!
Very personal involvement by staff. Made for extremely seamless and smooth transition through our dining experience. Our server Sean took decision making away from us and convinced us to trust him. Great decision by us. He is a professional and took care of his customer. We highly recommend
excellent from the minute we arrived. great food, service, atmosphere. Melvin our waiter the consummate professional. John, owner/.chef is superb. AND we cd actually visit with each other. we have been coming since the beginning and it is always a delightful dining experience.
Food was excellent and a good value. The setting is pretty drab. Our service and recommendations from Melvin were good. A couple of our main courses were not hot when they came to the table. We appreciated being able to bring our own wine with no negative feedback. It makes having better wines with dinner affordable. This is not where you take someone to impress them. It was good for us to meet friends and visit over a good meal and wine.
I asked 3 friends to join me the evening of 5/18/17 who had never experienced Lucio's. These friends are true foodies, and were thrilled with the food. presentation and service at the restaurant. I was so excited to introduce them to Lucio's, a true Houston treasure.
Went with friends and had the salmon. Was very flavorful and portion was perfect. Friend had ahi tuna, rare, two thumbs up. Espuma mashed potatoes were delicious. Another friend had filet mignon with spinach, very yummy. Garlic bread was thin, crispy and well done, no grease
