Lucille's Ratings and Reviews
Enjoyed the live music atmosphere more than the food. Fried green tomatoes were delicious. French toast with fried chicken was tasty and crab cake benedict was interesting. Seating is very close to the bar so not ideal for an intimate date night. Adult only menu, however staff will adjust for your little ones.
Lucille's really felt like a great little corner of excitement, and open to all different types of dress, occasions, and personalities. Such a fun place to eat delicious food, which was rich and flavorful without feeling too heavy or decadent. Can't wait to return!
Lucille’s combines an attractive space with a very friendly staff and excellent Southern fare. Beginning with their out of this world dinner rolls, which are an appetizer unto themselves, the Fried Green Tomatoes, and Shrimp and Grits all with added and updated takes on these Southern classics, my meal and several others I’ve had have all been wonderful. The entire team makes you feel welcome and comfortable. No matter the occasion Lucille’s is a no-fail excellent choice.
This was our first visit and for the most part it was great. There was an issue with the fried green tomatoes actually being fried Ted tomatoes but the Mgr resolved by removing item from our bill. Our server was awesome. The food was prepared quickly and served while still hot. The other issue involved being seated where people constantly passed to go the the restrooms - with narrow space for them to walk. I think that customers with reservations should have better seating.
I recently read reviews on this gem and decided for my 40th birthday why not try it. It was worth going to it. I loved the view the ambiance the attention to detail and the service from our server Gary. It was an awesome time and was a very unique place. We will definitely be going back again.
Went to celebrate my mother's birthday. There seemed to be live music playing as we walked up, but it wasn't inside and we never found the source (as different music was playing on the speakers inside). The portions were huge, and the flavor was great! definitely a cool place for a southern brunch, lunch or anything in between (the brunch cocktails were tasty as well)
The food, service and ambience were fantastic and made my mother’s birthday brunch so memorable. Having the chef and owner present was also a real treat and seeing the kitchen in action bringing out beautiful plated dishes made our experience so memorable. Everything we ordered was perfection. Thank you Lucille’s!!
Appetizers were good. Service was excellent. Whole fried snapper was not appetizing at all. The entres needed seasoning. There was no seasoning in the macaroni... a little fresh ground pepper would have been good. The collard greens were overlooked. Collards should be lightly sautéed in a little olive oil...not boiled in water. They were out ofthe oxtails.
...will give lucilles again maybe for brunch or appetizers only ..
This was my 5th time dining at Lucile's. One person in our party had an issue with her food which was immediately rectified by the owner. I would suggest tinted windows or some type of covering for those seated in the area by the fireplace. By the end of our brunch, two of us had to move as the sun shone directly on us.
Brought some friends, including a senior citizen, for Sunday brunch. It was their first visit, but I was sure they would enjoy it. Everyone enjoyed their meal which included the Chili Biscuits, Fried Green Tomatoes, Catfish and Eggs, Butcher Burger, Standard (2 eggs, bacon, braised greens because they were out of potatoes), and Croissant French Toast. Each dish was well prepared. I was told the Catfish was "the bomb!" The Sunday Jazz band made the meal even more enjoyable.
I really want to like this place. This time our experience was not so good. Unreliable food. Chris was not there so the shrimp and grits was not up to par. Flavorless and swimming in a broth with no flavor. Often we order a wine bottle from the list and is not available. Service was good. They put us a no show on open table even though we told them we had an open table reservation. Distracted, lack of attention to details? Not sure. Concerned that the current culture is catching up with some of our favorite restaurants.
Lucille's is a wonderful place for brunch. I love eggs benedict, but I am often disappointed. Lucille's had a special eggs benedict with smoked salmon that was wonderful and different. The salad that came with the dish was a wonderful accompaniment. My friend ordered the green eggs & ham and was very pleased with the herbalicious omlet and the pork belly.
This was our first time at Lucille's after trying some dishes at the Taste of Texans event. This place does not disappoint! Wow!!! A must do! What a enjoyable and delicious experience at Lucille's! We started with the Fried Green Tomatoes and Chili Biscuits that were both unbelievable! Then we had the Shrimp and Grits, Scallops, Collard Greens and Mac and Cheese! Everything from service to food was outstanding! A must go to and go back again and again!!
So delicious! Cozy, warm, friendly ambiance with a diverse and well-dressed clientele. Enjoyed every bit of our romantic Sunday brunch: spicy/sweet strawberry-and-serrano woke punch, fried green tomatoes, watermelon salad, shrimp and grits, croissant french toast with fried chicken wings...inventive and beautifully presented food that is Instagram-pretty to look at while still keeping all the soul and depth of flavor I would dream of in a neighborhood Southern restaurant. Staff and regular visitors alike were fun to talk to and very sweet. This would be a perfect restaurant to take out-of-town guests to give a feel for true Houston, especially if you're making it an event by visiting any the amazing art, science, or history museums and parks in the area. The location is ideal, and the food is both uniquely Houston and absolutely delicious and sure to please, whether one is impressing a hard-core foodie or one's "I only eat food I recognize" picky aunt. The only thing we don't like about this restaurant is that it's in Houston instead of where we are, three hours' drive away--otherwise we'd be there regularly! Jealous of folks in Houston who can be there all the time.
The restaurant was not busy at all when we arrived (about 6:30) but the bartender took forever to take our order and make our drinks and then when we finally got them - 10-15 minutes later - literally, they were watered down. Then our friends arrived, he didn't even look at them so we went to our table thinking they could get a drink easier from our waitress. She was great actually, the only bright spot in the evening, but the food was nothing special and my husband said his burger was terrible. I've never gone for dinner before, only brunch, but I don't think I'd go back again for dinner at least. I'm not sure what happened - I've never been blown away but it's definitely not what it used to be.
