I actually gave my tickets to a special couple and they had a blast. They posted pictures on facebook and instagram. They really enjoyed themselves and you guys helped because I couldn't get the email to them so they could get the tickets. I called your establishment and they took care of everything. The wife is Prince fan and really wanted to go and you didn't disappoint. Thank you for helping to make a great night for a great couple.
Food and atmosphere are good but the service is very slow.
Overall, I liked the food and we sat indoors to talk. However, the radio music was slightly too loud so that we could hear our conversations to each other. There was to be a live band outside so we opted to be seated indoors thinking we would better be able to talk. I will go back but maybe try the outdoor dining so we can have casual conversations during lunch or perhaps dinner.
I went to Lucille’s, for Sunday brunch, with my hubby and our friend. Now, I know that “if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all”. BUT, I have to be honest! I want people to be honest, when they’re posting reviews - both positive & negative - so, I’m going to do the same. How will we know both the pros AND the cons of a place, if the cons aren’t told?! With that said, here’s what I experienced at Lucille’s: 1. The vibe was cool... casual, energetic, people of all ethnicities and ages (so I THOUGHT the food would be good)... I didn’t get to see much of the outdoor seating area, but the teeny portion I glimpsed had greenery and comfy-looking seating, and I was told that there was live entertainment outside, too, which is always a plus. 2. Our server was blasè; she must not have been having a good day. She barely spoke up (could barely hear her; had to ask her to repeat herself a couple of times), didn’t smile and just generally wasn’t friendly. But, she definitely wasn’t outright nasty... Hey, you never know what people are going through. 3. The Chili Biscuits were okay-good; I give them a 5.5 out of 10. I expected regular-sized/medium-large biscuits, like the ones you get when ordering biscuits and gravy. But, these are mini biscuits. You get 4, and they’re stuffed with the chili, and have cheese melted on top. They taste... like I said: okay-good. 4. I ordered the fried chicken, bc it’s supposedly delicious. It wasn’t. It was undercooked and under-seasoned. It was like our server’s attitude: not outright nasty, but could’ve been better, lol. I thought it may have just been my order, but my husband’s chicken was undercooked, also! Our friend ordered the fried catfish... I didn’t know catfish was rectangular-shaped. That was pure shade... but truth. It tasted just okay-good, too. 5. My collard greens weren’t washed well enough.
6. The coffee was very good, when the filter was working and there weren’t any coffee grounds in it. #wontgoback
Great brunch with family! Live music outside!
I had the Yard Bird and my friend the Shrimp and Grits. Shared the lemon meringue pie. All was delicious. Waitress was very sweet and Parking super easy. Very cute place. Will definitely be back.
First visit to Lucille’s and I was not disappointed. The brunch menu is limited but the food was good. I had the French toast with wings. The chicken was crispy and juicy and the croissant French toast was amazing. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was lovely.
The food was delicious. We sat outside on a beautiful evening.
We had an outstanding dinner. The food was terrific and the atmosphere was warm and comfortable.
Met my daughter here for brunch on Sunday. Couldn’t believe y’all had a live jazz band. The music & atmosphere was awesome. We tried the fried Green Tomatoes & they were so yummy with the hollandaise sauce. My daughter ordered the French bread croissant toast with spiked berries & wings & I had the fried fish, potatoes & eggs. Everything was awesome. We’re definitely going to come back again & try something else. Love the food, people, cozy renovated house, & the live jazz band. What a treat. I already IG’d it & told all my friends. Lol 😂
The servers was nice and the food came out quick and will do brunch there again.
I had been wanting to try Lucille's for quite some time, so my friend and I decided to try it for brunch. The food and service is very good. The one thing we didn't realize is they have a jazz band for Sunday Brunch. The band was great, but it did make it difficult to talk and catch up. It's not a negative thing, but something to be aware of if you are looking to have brunch on a Sunday.
Friendly service, great home cooking with a twist. Hadn’t been in a while and was so glad I went back!
Sunday Brunch was amazing. It was our first visit, but we’re definitely going back again soon.
My family and I loved Lucille's . . . From the story that inspired the restaurant to the food. We order a mimosa carafe with a peach liqueur mixer. It was absolutely delicious! My mom ordered the catfish and eggs which was great. My daughter ordered the pancakes and wings. She enjoyed every bite. I ordered the shrimp and grits. Unfortunately my dish was bland so I had to find seasonings to help it out. I still are every bite though. I'll definitely go back, I just know not to order that dish again.
Made reservations for brunch for a date and everything was amazing. The service was fantastic!
We ordered the Crab Cake Benedict and the Country Benedict. The Country Benedict was amazing and very innovative. The breading was perfect and the egg was soft with a runny yolk. The crab cakes were delicious as well!
Definitely recommend and will be returning soon!
The dishes were hit or miss...French toast excellent, Catfish? well, that was non-existent. I was served fried whiting instead of fried catfish and it was under seasoned. Grits that were served on the side came out cold and lumpy. My friend actually sent hers back. She got potatoes instead and those were good. My other friend ordered an eggs benedict type dish and she loved it...so like I said, hit or miss...I've been here for lunch and brunch. I wasn't impressed either time. No need to be disappointed a third time. I'll pass and advise my friends to do the same.
Amazing meal as always at Lucille’s. Don’t pass up the starters as the biscuits and the fried green tomatoes are too good to believe. Great brunch spot and fun for people watching!
Had a great meal here and was impressed again with the quality of the food. They succesfully elevate their chosen cuisine while remaining authentic with it. The folks at Xochi could take a lesson from this restaurant.
LUCILLE'S has become our go to every time we make it to Houston. We first tried it on a dear friends recommendation for lunch and from the first step in the door, we were hooked. We have dined there for lunch, brunch, and dinner, and must say that we have NEVER been disappointed in any way. All the food and drinks are superior and believe with out foodie souls that they serve the best brunch in Texas.
Visiting from Seattle and are thrilled about this find. The food was excellent, the service friendly, and made us want to come back to Houston.
The restaurant was not even 1/4 full when the waitress tried to seat us in between two other couples. Not desirable for conversation. So, she moved us to the back of the restaurant in the sunlight. I guess she won that little skirmish.
Lucille's is a classic, feel good comfort food restaurant with a chef's touch. From fried green tomatoes - superb - to a delicious BLTOyster sandwich, lunch is scrumptious. Dinner menu takes it up a notch - Smothered Rabbit, Braised Oxtails, Waygu Steak. Enjoy sides to share - famous chili biscuits, mussels, truffled brussel sprouts. Everything, including handcrafted cocktails, are delish. And with spring here, there is a fabulous back yard patio.
Great food however they do not have unlimited mimosas even if you ask which was listed online. The music was awesome and the fried green tomatoes are a must.
Pre-rodeo brunch with friends.
My friends and I were at Lucille's to enjoy brunch on Sunday and to celebrate a friend's birthday. The food was delicious, and Robin, our server, was fantastic. Additionally, and the live music on Sunday was greatly entertaining!
Went for brunch, sat outside. Very cute, good food, but a little pricey for what it is. Service was a little slow.
Had brunch with family visiting from Louisiana and they enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
T he service was excellent. The fried chicken and braised oxtails were terrific. The collard greens were very good but not hot enough. The fried green tomatoes were awesome
First visit and thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service. Will definitely return!
Our food was excellent. We ordered the chili cheese biscuits, fried oysters and fried green tomatoes and all were delicious. We also had the lamb neck pasta, and that was seriously some of the best pasta I’ve ever had. Really yummy. And the Brussels sprouts with crispy onions and egg were also just divine. Our server seemed disinterested for the most part, and didn’t add to the experience. We will 100% be back, and hope to have a slightly more experienced and interested server to enhance the experience.
At 7 pm the restaurant was 1/2 full and there were only 2 waitresses. The attention to us was very slow (for drinks, ordering food and asking for the bill). Our waitress seemed new or inexperienced. It was a special occasion for friends, but the lack of service was embarrassing. The food was good and deserves repeating, but I am wary due to subpar service.
Robin was great! Our outdoor seating was quaint and beautiful. We are already planning a dinner for our next trip!
Service and food were great. Only disappointed in no dessert selection.
Food needs to be seasoned! Very bland to be considered Southern Cuisine.
Lucille’s may have the best brunch in Houston!!!
Lucille’s has yet to disappoint! Every time I visit the service is superb, the food is amazing and the drinks are off the charts! If I had anything to complain about it would be the lack of options for vegetarians. I was still able to have a meal they didn’t include meat and enjoyed it thoroughly!
Since it is spring time in Houston and good weather we opted to eat outside. Waitress seemed attentive and friendly and a but distracted by regular customers (or perhaps favorites) that seemed to get most of the service.
She kept checking back, but seemed to forget repeatedly what we had just requested. As such, it wasn't until her third or fourth time to our table that we received one of our missing glasses of water. My wife had earlier pointed out that she had gone over to chat with some other guests and that I shouldn't be surprised if I didn't get my water. She was right.
Our appetizer went to another table for some reason so by the time we had our meal (which granted was really fast) we didn't get the appetizer yet. Again, there was a sense that regulars or friends were getting a bit preferential treatment such as an appetizer intended for other customers.
Food was both beautifully arranged and made perfectly. The food is definitely the reason to go here.
One final note, as we were getting close to leaving, the rest of a party of four showed up and proceeded to smoke cigarettes. We were unaware that the outside seating was for smokers so if that had happened half an hour earlier that would have been a deal breaker. This fact SHOULD be pointed out to customers when asking them if they wish to sit outside. If you don't want to risk the same, get a table inside instead.
Over all it was a pleasant experience, great food and service was fast and friendly, if a bit disorganized.
