This is purely a hotel restaurant and their “excellent” online reviews are very misleading
New Year’s Eve dinner was great. Nice ambience- didn’t feel like a “typical” hotel restaurant.

The waitstaff were extremely attentive. We did the 5 course tasting menu and it was really average and nothing special as far as flavor. Pretty disappointing for this price point.
We had a lovely brunch on Saturday at Lucienne before going to a show at the Hobby Center. The menu is fantastic, it was difficult to decide which things to order because everything sounded great. We shared the lobster bisque, the truffled grilled cheese and the pumpkin pancakes. Loved them all. The interior design is beautiful and service was very friendly. Definitely recommend.
My wife and I eat brunch here almost every Sunday. The eggs Benedict are the best in the city, and the French toast is heavenly.
A group of 4 friends and I went to brunch at Lucienne prior to musical theater. I had read some very good reviews on Open Table. We were very disappointed. It was basically empty, except for a group of about 18 guests arriving and a table for 1. We were seated at a table for 8 rather than 2 smaller tables put together. In order to chat, we had to arrange ourselves on one end of the long table. No one came to give us a cocktail menu. We had to ask for someone to come over to take our order. I had Eggs Benedict with crab cakes. the crab cakes were heavily fried with a tough outer crust. My friend did not like her lobster panini. My other friend did not care for her raclette. One friend enjoyed her crepe. Again, after waiting for awhile for someone to come to the table and ask about dessert or whether we wanted the check, we had to ask the hostess to ask someone to come over. (I had put it in our Open Table reservation that we were on a schedule and had tickets to the theater.) We received our checks and the manager brought over complimentary champagne for our inconveniences. It was hard to understand why the service was so bad. The restaurant was empty except for the table for 18, the table for 1 and our table of 5. I think there was just one waiter. With as many great restaurants that Houston has now, we will not be back.
We ate here three weeks ago and my wife loved it so much that she requested to come back for her birthday dinner. We came back and liked it even more. We will definitely return.
My wife and I come here almost every Sunday for the eggs Benedict. I honestly believe that they make THE best eggs Benedict that I have ever had -- including in Paris. We always finish the meal with the French toast which is the most delicious EVER. We love this place. The food is consistently delicious and fresh. The service is always so friendly and helpful.
We were blown away. We had almost three hours to kill between an afternoon play at the Alley and an evening symphony at Jones Hall so we looked for a new to us restaurant to try. The menu looked nice so we made a booking.
We went for the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairings. I took advantage of their offer to get two items from one section and one item from each of three other sections rather than one from each of the 5 sections.
Our taste buds exploded from the first byte.
We can’t wait to come back - so much so that my wife wants me to cancel her birthday reservation elsewhere and come back. We will return in three weeks!
Lucienne provided the perfect setting and meal for the celebration of the first anniversary of meeting my girlfriend. The interior design was retro chic, the service was classy, and the five course meal was the perfect amount of food. I would suggest you don’t drink before coming if you plan to have the wine pairings with dinner. Although we had an amazing time, we did struggle to keep up with the wines.
I really want to love this place and have been here for business lunches multiple times but the service after the meal arrives is non existent. Every time I have to find a waiter even on the floor to help. You can only see the chef in the back. It doesn’t matter how busy they are - after service they disappear. The food is outstanding. Atmosphere lovely. If crowded it can get noisy. Just not sure I want another business lunch there.
Flavors were outstanding. Go with the five course tasting menu to get the best experience. Francisco did an excellent job guiding us thru the options and making perfect wine pairings.
This was the best restaurant out of the five that we went to on Houston Weeks Menu. The service and food were excellent. You had the managers helping the waiters. That shows how they care about first class service. We have eaten at Michelin Star Restaurants. The Michelin Guide does not come down south to rate, But Lucienne in my book, would rate as a Michelin 3-Star Restaurant. Not to forget to mention; The valet was also top notch. After tipping the valet, my car was parked in the street. My wife had to go back in to use the restroom. When she came back out, the car valet came to the street and opened the car door for her; what great first class service. Thank you, Ladies and Gentleman. We will definitely be returning to your Five Star Hotel.
We ordered from the HRW menu. Food and service were absolutely outstanding. Bonus: reasonably priced bottles of wine. Definitely recommend.

Wonderful brunch. Filling but not heavy. Service was prompt and pleasant. Food was delicious. Atmosphere was perfect for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. Looking forward to our next visit!

From the beautiful hotel lobby to the elegant Bardot lounge for before dinner drinks with downtown views then Lucienne's wonderful menu, great food, excellent service and attention to detail. Will be back downtown to explore more on menu. Thank you.

Amazing food and display! Service was excellent and I recommend the tuna as appetizer and pheasant or beef as entree. Definitely do chocolate mousse for dessert!
5 course meal.... Took forever in between courses... Food was not great... Pasta undercooked... Lamb was inedible... Way overpriced
I was disappointed by my visit to Lucienne.
Our waiter brought us only the 5-course tasting menu. It took some prodding of the waiter before he revealed that there was also an a la dinner carte menu AND a restaurant weeks menu. The waiter rolled his eyes when I asked him for the other two menus. He eventually brought the a la carte menu but never brought the restaurant weeks menu. The tasting menu was literally the exact same as the a la carte menu, just arranged into course categories. No one in our party had any doubt that the restaurant was betting on us believing there was only the one menu and committing to a long, heavy dinner that we weren't even in the mood for.
Both fish entrees served to our party were tasted and smelled fishy, as if it was not particularly fresh.
The waitstaff stuck us with Acqua Panna as the "still" water, without even offering tap water. They then switched the bottle out three times before we could catch a waiter to tell them we wanted tap the next time the bottle was empty.
The service was amazing. Their servers were very attentive and check on you often. The food was also very good.
Good hotel restaurant. Interesting dishes and modern takes on old classics. Worth a try.

I scrupulously made a reservation for our 24th anniversary dinner at Lucienne. Planning to have the amazing-sounding 5-course tasting menu. We had not been to the downtown Hotel Alessandra, but we have been impressed with the hip new hotels in the Valencia Hotel group. Arriving on the street in downtown Houston, we entered a non-descript street-level foyer with a soaring staircase directly in front of us. It parted halfway up, and we chose the right side. On reaching the next level, we found a strangely small lobby, with a tiny hotel reservation desk tucked away to the side. We approached and said we were looking for the restaurant. Of course, it was on the other side. Circling the staircase, we walked a narrow passage to the bar then down a blank corridor to the Lucienne restaurant. Really, the entrance experience was confusing and unwelcoming. We were greeted by a gorgeous Frenchman in a stylish suit and seated in the ABSOLUTELY EMPTY dining room at 7 PM. OK, it was Monday. A single businessman came in, dined quickly on one course and made a quick exit. The rest of the evening, we were ALONE with our charming Venezuelan server, who couldn't have been more professional and kind. The various food courses were intriguing and fascinatingly presented. Things were delicious through the 3rd course. I had a fabulous Italian cheese, lobster ravioli and halibut. 4th course: My husband's lamb loin tasted distinctly 'lamby' like not-fresh. (Guess they don't get enough customers to order it fresh? ) And my 'pheasant' tasted like day-old rotisserie chicken. Trust me. I eat that all time at home. The dessert was nice, and the chef wrote Happy Anniversary on the plates and comped us a glass of champagne. A lovely gesture. I admire what they are trying to do bc I LOVE gourmet food and French dining. But this restaurant may not make it. Help them out, folks.
The food is superb along with the service. The Chef is outstanding and I am always very pleased with everything.
The creativity of the Chef is outstanding. I never leave disappointed and frequent here often. Everything is always perfect, from the presentation of the food, the quality of the food, and last but not least, the service is always spot on.
