Outstanding food and service! Excited to hear of the reopening!
Sadly it was the last day of service at Lucia’s. Claire my server was amazing. Food was good.
Love this restaurant, but alas, it has now closed so this review is moot. We are sad they are closed, since we went every Sunday for brunch and it was amazing always. We will miss our brunch spot and our favorite server, Anne.
Delicious last meal at Lucia's which made it bittersweet. Thanks for the memories!
Fantastic meal on Lucia's final weekend before closing. Lots of memories....Despite the recent changes there, I'll miss that place.
Two friends who have dined together at Lucia's went for a last lunch the day before the restaurant closed permanently. As always, the food - beef short rib chili and mushroom stroganoff this time - were scrumptious, perfectly done, in our opinions. It is a Twin Cities tragedy that the restaurant has closed after 30 years of fine dining and memories.
We are losing lucia's because the arrogant office holders at City hall have decided that restaurant parking lots, apartment parking requirements and driving in general are not in the best interest of the City. Cristo's lost their parking lot for the same reason. How many others have been lost in the City's war against cars?
We wanted to go to Lucia's before it closed, so managed to get a table for early on a Thursday evening. Still not sure what happened, but after promptly getting a couple of glasses of wine, the service went to hell. There was a 15-20 minute wait for our share plate, then a 25-30 minute gap before a server brought our entrees - except we'd also ordered starters, but had never received them. When this was pointed out, the server asked if we still wanted the starters. We said yes. Our original waiter came to the table and apologized for the mix-up; then he went to the table behind us and apologized to those diners because they hadn't yet received part of their order. Thinking our starters would arrive in a few minutes, we were surprised to have another 15-20 minute wait (after having finished our entrees). We were disappointed that our waiter did not offer to compensate us for the confusion and/or long wait times. The food was OK but nothing I was excited about, so between that and the terrible service, I would not recommend Lucia's. Of course, it's now closed, so this is a moot point.
I've eaten at Lucia's for many years and have alway raved how fabulous the food was here, but this visit I was rather disappointed, I felt like they didn't really care anymore now that they are days away from closing. Three of us ordered the turkey sandwich, which did have a lot of turkey in the sandwich, but the condiments were sparse and it seemed lacking and the baguette style bread was so thick it was impossible to get a bite of the sandwich together. The only thing it came with was four small pieces of lettuce which was suppose to serve as a side salad I guess, but I've seen larger children's portions. While the wait person was alright, he seemed uninterested and never checked with to see if there was anything else we wanted etc. All in all pretty disappointed in my last visit to Lucia's. I will remember the old Lucia's when the restaurant was owned by her, then it was top notch and I always recommended it.
So sad to see that Lucia's is closing. We decided to come one last time before it closes for good. Food and experience was excellent as always.
So sad they are closing!
This was a farewell meal to an "old friend " cafe closing this month. Still lovely, though sadly suffered a bit from short timer syndrome. And the loss of its bakery.
We love Lucia's. We're so sad that it is closing!!
A bittersweet evening dining with friends as Lucia's prepares to close for good. Everything about the evening was perfect.
Last visit was a disappointment. In the last couple of years since it was bought by Stellas, the quality and consistency has slipped considerably. When Lucias first opened and for many years after, it was one of our favorite restaurants. It had creative cuisine, fresh ingredients and delightful meals.
I am going to miss Lucia’s. The location, the warmth of the room, and the quality of the food. An institution that is no longer valued as demographics and food scene changes.
Had heard so many good things but had never been. Learned if it's closing and rushed to experience it, and it did not disappoint. Sad to lose this restaurant so soon after finding it!
Last supper
Have loved Lucia's for many years!! Will miss this amazing restaurant!!
Food was delicious. Had the short ribs and they were so tender and just coming apart. The mashed potatoes and kale were a great compliment to the ribs. Excellent meal, sorry to find out that they will be closing in 11 days.
always splendid food , service and ambiance. have never in 30 years been disappointed
Great to be back after a couple years! Menu was simple but diverse. We enjoyed 4 courses and we were pleased that everything was fresh and flavourful. We said at least twice with the "small plates" that they were not that small. Thoroughly enjoyed our time, and joe our server was kind and attentive.
Very enjoyable meal, friendly, efficient staff. Food was delicious!
Lucia's never disappoints! Exceptional food -- so fresh and so good! We took my sister in law from Seattle and she loved the food, the wine and the feel of Lucia's.
Usually this is a great experience. But this last time was not as good as usual. The cucumber salad sounded way better on the menu than it actually was. Tasted like just cucumbers and mayonnaise. The main meals were wonderful. The deserts were so late we took them to go, and they were not super when we ate them. We will give them another chance, but we were a little disappointed this time.
Very limited for lunch on weekends as they only have 1 non brunch item, but I will say, it was fantastic. Salad with the chicken is very delicious.
I have been a "regular " at Lucia's for many years. About a year ago I had a couple bad dining expieriences and have not been back. I missed Lucias, took a look at the menu and decided to give it another chance. What a mistake ! We started out by ordering a glass of wine and asked for bread. The waiter told us they had NO bread ! I pointed out a couple sandwiches on the menu and asked how they would make them with no bread and he told me they were saving the bread for sandwiches. It was 1:00 and people sitting at only 3 tables. The menu posted on line was not at all the menu we received. The menu was so limited I decided to order the quiche of the day. When it came it was COLD in the middle and the crust was soggy. ObviousIy old and part way reheated. My side salad was about 3 tablespoons of soaked arugula and nothing else. My friend had the pasta which was tasteless and about 5 bites. One of the ladies at the table next to us sent her food back twice . I am so very sad about the new owners of Lucias driving such a wonderful restaurant into the ground. They should be ashamed of themselves ! I am an OpenTable VIP member and have never before used the "poor" rating in a review prior to today.
Going to Lucia's makes me want to visit Minneapolis more so that I can go back! We started at the wine bar and stayed for dinner. The rosemary nuts are addictive and the hash browns shouldn't be missed. We split all of the dishes between 3 of us so that we could try more options, and would recommend doing that rather than having to choose. The zucchini pancake with salmon tartare is also a delight. Excellent wines by the glass selection and helpful, friendly staff. All around a great evening and experience.
John, our most capable and knowledgable waiter enhanced our dining experience!
Our family of four (parents and two teenage daughters) came for an early dinner before theater. Had a reservation, but sat in the bar area first, then just decided to stay there for our meal. We had an appetizer plate for the table, then adults shared a starter and an entree, girls shared a starter and an entree, and we all shared two desserts. Some wine and homemade lemonade all made for a perfect amount of food. Waiter was friendly and helpful, food was delicious.
Uneven food quality. Duck egg pasta fabulous. Salad inedible. Steak mediocre.
Excruciatingly slow service. Yes, it was very busy on a Friday night, and the food, when it finally came, was worth the wait. But it was mostly the server who lingered with some customers and ignore us. We would have ordered dessert but by that time there was no point. Meal spoiled by her inattention. The food was outstanding, but the kitchen needs to get it together and get more efficient. And the wait staff needs to get more professional.
Lucias is an upscale somewhat casual restaurant that excels at food and service while maintaining good value. The breads from their bakery are outstanding, but the desserts were a little disappointing. We will definitely return for another dinner at Lucia's!
The menu is somewhat limited though the items offered are delicious. We had the Sausage & Peppers, flat bread, soup, Mixed greens, and the beef, pool and chicken dishes -all outstanding!!!
Have always loved the food at Lucia's. The service felt indifferent, which was a shame.
Lucia's has been around for years. Although Lucia is no longer running the restaurant I feel it is staying true to her vision of locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. The food is delicious and the staff friendly and helpful. Still one of my favorites in the Uptown area. I have yet to be disappointed.
Very good service. Menu is not broad, but choices were good enough.
Wonderful seasonal food, great service, and a vintage, unpretentious atmosphere.
As always, our meal was terrific as was the service. It's such a pleasure to dine at a restaurant that focuses on fresh, local produce and supports local producers!
Service was fantastic, food was even better!
