We LOVE Lucia’s! Consistently delicious and great staff!
Love this place for any occasion!
Lucia's is probably our favorite restaurant in the entire East Bay area. :-) It is the safest (allergy-wise) and most incredibly delicious gluten-free & night-shade free restaurant that we have experienced in the past 6 years, both in the Walnut Creek area and the Berkeley/Oakland area. And, of course, we love the owners and staff--beautiful people creating a beautiful all-around experience. Heart emoticon. :-)
While it is close to Berkeley Rep, we found the food disappointing and way overpriced.
The pizza was soggy. Although it was meant to include prosciutto, there were only a few very small chunks of ham. Brussel sprouts appetizer cold. Ran out of cider. Overall very disappointed. Still searching for good place for dinner pre-theater.
Overall good food and good value. If you're there when very busy you might want to ask for your pizza extra crispy. Our two came out a bit underdone, but on another occasion was perfect.
Nice, fun, quaint, energetic place with good food and staff. We had the pizzas which were delish.
Maybe it was an off night or what we ordered. The pizzas were soggy and flavorless. But, the service was great, and their cocktail and wine selection good. I looked up reviews after eating there, and was surprised at how many glowing reviews were posted. That wasn't our experience.
Had fried calamari calamari was excellent, but caponata was a little too sweet for our taste. The kale salad was excellent. Ordered the Margherita pizza with added Mushrooms and sausage. Should have left off the sausage, which was strangely spiced and too smooth texture for our tastes (being a creator of homemade sausage). Other than the sausage, the pizza was amazingly fab. For dessert we split the freshly stuffed cannoli with wonderful house-made fixing. Better than any on West Coast and as good as best in Boston North End! Well b back, again!
I would return. Most dishes very good. Interesting pizzas and the appetizers were a hit
Great food and service. BEST gluten free pizza crust in the Bay Area!!!
Always an amazing experience here. My favorite restaurant in the Bay Area.
Food was great; lots of GF options for my wife. Brussel sprouts and broccoli to start - they were fantastic. Pizza was good too. Drinks were so-so but the wine was fine. Service was a tad slow but if you imagine you're in Italy, the service is above average! :-)
It was restaurant week so things were likely not the norm.
Lovely neighborhood restaurant, cozy yet vibrant decor.
Food was great: home-style Italian cooking.
Great wine selection.
Great pizzas and fun place. Menu is limited and the place gets crowded. Casual and good.
We had the fixed price dinner that was available during Berkeley Restaurant Week. The food was great, the service excellent, and the cocktails and wine were great. Their Old Fashion is the best I have had at any restaurant. Very conveniently located near the downtown Berkeley BART station.
Absolutely the best gluten free pizza ever.. my wife is gluten free; I am not. Could not tell the difference! Other entrees were also phenomenal! Highly recommended....
Lovely meal as always. Love their gluten free pizza! Service was very slow and unintuitive. They never checked for last orders. When we wanted to add something, they announced that the kitchen has closed.
One of us ordered coffee before the meal that was delivered alongside it because it was delayed. Who drinks coffee w pizza?
Everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful, and Anastassia provided superb service.
Overall nice meal and service. Calamari app was really pretty small but salad was easy to share. Two Pizza’s 2 apps, caraf of red wine and a couple of beers $170 for four seemed a little steep. Will go back though.
Best pizza crust! Super appetizers. Delightful staff and truly engaging ownership! We love everything about Lucia’s.
Food was good quality, and tasty, but the selection is pretty narrow with only about three different pasta dishes. Not many items with meat. The noise level is extremely high so it's not a good place for conversation.
This was our first visit to Lucia's. Everything was delicious and the service was great. We'll be back.
Lucia’s simply has the best gluten free pizzas! You can’t even tell these delicious Neapolitan pizzas don’t have regular flour. And try the gluten free calamari which are also outstanding.
Having been a few weeks earlier, we expected more on the night. We had a pesto pasta, which was very al dente, short on flavour, and at $19.00, short on everything. The Mariana pizza was not much more than a bunch of tomato sauce on the pizza crust, nothing exciting. The prosciutto pie pizza was very good and pulled the overall food rating up to good.
I Don't live close to this restaurant. I came here after reading the great reviews it has. It was a very disappointing experience and I will never go there again. Pizza was not great at all. I ordered pasta for my kids and I ordered cooked more than al dente. Of course when it came it was not the way I ordered it so I asked the lady who was nice to take it back and get it the way I asked. Then here comes the manager and he was very rude and sarcastic and asked me: "so how long would you like us to cook the pasta? 10 minutes? 30 minutes? or an hour?" I think this is very rude. I am not going to the restaurant so he can come and be sarcastic on the way I want my food. In short, if you have standards in food and restaurants, don't go there.
Lucia's never fails! I love the pizza and the servers are great.
We went to Lucia's for Sunday Brunch. The gluten free pizza dough was the best I've ever had! Will definitely return.
Great pizza, very attentive service even on a very busy evening. We would go back!
Was disappointed to not be able to have their amazing gluten free pizza, which I had once before when I was in the Bay Area. Last time I was told they’d take precautions against cross contamination. This time they said they couldn’t accommodate.
The GF pasta was delicious, along with a great arugula salad, but i had been dreaming of having their pizza again, so sad to miss out this time.
Great pizza. Desserts very good as well.
The food and service are excellent here. Despite having several gluten free options, several items were cooked in the same places as glutinous ones, so our options were limited. (We were really hoping for a GF pizza.) Regardless, our server, whose name we cannot recall but believe was the co-owner, steered us to several beautiful plates of delicious food. We left very happy. The only other drawback was the tall chairs at the bar. If you are under 5'4", they are very high. We will definitely return, but will get a regular table.
Loved the food. Service a bit spotty and seemed chaotic but it was fun and wouldn’t hesitate to go back again.
Great spot! Loved the pizza; the cocktails were also fantastic, as were the appetizers and chocolate mousse dessert. We'll be back.
Wonderfully fast service, terrific burrata and some of the most Italy-like pizza (esp. dough-wise) we've had in the US!
This is a great little restaurant. Wonderful owners who are very welcoming. We eat there before Berkeley Rep all the time. Last time we had the special pizza..squash, potato chips, pepperoni...sounds strange but was delicious! Their arugla salad with taro chips ..eggplant ...canoli...GREAT>n
Mushroom pizza was overwhelmed by Gorgonzola cheese and burnt crust. Did not have much of a mushroom flavor. Carbonara pizza had old tasting prosciutto. Only pizza that was good was the spicy one. Not much to choose from on Sat other than pizza. Overall ok but not something I’d go back for.
The gluten free pizza was the best we’ve had in the Bay Area!
Such a lovely little restaurant with yummy food and delightful servers. Second time here and I will be back. Had a mushroom pizza with vegan cheese that was delicious.
