Luciana's Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
As always we had a great meal with great service. We took our son with us who is visiting from Seattle. He lived in Italy for five years...He was impressed with the authenticty and quality of the food. The attentive service impressed him, too. Luciana's is THE place for Italian cuisine.
First time there and disappointed because we felt rushed through our dinner although the restaurant was not busy or full. The busboys kept coming to take the plates away while we were in the middle of conversations. Also the chandelier above the table kept dimming and brightening.
We were celebrating our friend's 90th birthday and our waiter made our evening so enjoyable. I would describe our waiter was an excellent ambassador for Luciana's. He was extremely attentive, informative, a great deal of fun yet not intrusive. Unfortunately, I don't recall his name - just that he had a shaved head and said he was from Mexico. He had a great smile!
We has early reservations, so it was very quiet when we arrived. The service was very good, the waiter was attentive and my water glass was kept full...I drink alot of water. It did get much busier as we were leaving, but we were there for our anniversary, so the timing was perfect for us.
Really enjoyed our experience at Lusiana's, the ambiance was great and thought it was a great value. The food was good, I had the chicken parmesean, my chicken was tough and hard to chew, it was definitely overcooked but my husband loved his rigatoni with sausage. Would definitely go back to try the pasta dishes.
Specials were Delicious!!! Service was awesome. The appetizers were great, with the exception of the carpaccio..it was disappointing tough...needed to be cut thinner or marinated longer...so disappointed...dessert was wonderful...and the wine suggested added to the dinner!!!
The food was relatively good, however the service from the bald, hispanic waiter was the worst we've ever had. We may consider trying this restaurant again in a few months. Hopefully by that time the previously mentioned waiter will no longer be employed by the restaurant.
Yummy...had my favorite dish and appetizer green beans, along with garlic bread, clams, calamari, and then 3 special dinners, along with my grandson who loves your entire NY steak dinner. He's 11 and been dining here for 11 years!
wonderful atmosphere and flavors were outstanding!
thanks til next time.
We found a gem of a restaurant. We will absolutely return to again & again. As soon as we entered Luciana's, we were warmly embraced with the friendly personnel, the warm ambiance & wonderful decor. The menu was exciting with many choices. Each person, in our group, ordered a different selection; each one of us loved our choice. The service was impeccable and friendly.
The menu choice, ambience, and service are great at Luciana's. However the food on our most recent visit was not great. My chicken parmesan was tough, overbreaded and had too much cheese on it. My husband's seafood medley dish over linguine was only fair with seafood overcooked and not very flavorful. I also had a dinner salad of mixed green and gorgonzola cheese (nothing special). The white bean and pasta soup was good. The side of pasta was very good. Maybe stick to the homemade pasta dishes? Also, no menu choices for children although there were many kids dining in the restaurant (no separate menu, no small entree dishes, etc).
It's a shame that this place wasn't as good as we remembered it to be in the past.
Food and service was good. Wine was a problem. There was a bunch of silt at the bottom of my glass of wine (about the size of a small bunch of dried flower stems). Showed the waitress and her reply was, "Oh well, that happens sometimes". I expected, "I'm sorry, let me take the wine off the tab". I won't be going back there again.
Food was excellent at Luciana's. We ended up at Luciana's because Magianno's in Costa Mesa was booked, we had a group of 14, but boy am I glad they were! Not only was the food great at Luciana's, but the prices were very reasonable, portions were very generous and they offered a full bar! Waiters were very friendly and attentive as well. I would definitely recommend, but if you make a reservation via OpenTable or Web, please call ahead to confirm. I received a message stating that they would not be able to accomodate due to the last minute reservation as I was parking (but I had made reservation 7 hours earlier on OpenTable). Fortunately they found a way to make it work and evening turned out great!
Rigatoni pesto is awesome. Also had the Osso Buco which I've heard great things about (it's a special) but it had some kind of weird, Middle-Eastern seasoning (possibly cumin) that was a bit heavy-handed. The waiters/waitresses all take their jobs seriously and want to make sure you're happy.
We found this restaurant by accident and are certainly glad we did. We have been back twice in the past two weeks and were not disappointed. The food was excellent with a wide variety - great specials too. The wait staff is incredible and was very knowledgable about the food and wine selections. This will be a permanent dining spot for us!
