LUCE Ristorante - East Norwich Ratings and Reviews
First time here and not disappointed. Greeted by name when we walked in so I guess the host assumed (correctly) that it was us at the appropriate reservation time- which was nice.
Requested a quiet back table away from the kitchen and that's what we got - as quiet as can be expected on a busy Saturday night - lol.
Food and drinks and service were excellent.
Asked server for suggestions but he said all the specials were good so he really didn't know - not a problem though.
Definitely coming back soon.
This was our first occasion to dine at LUCE though we live in the neighborhood and hadn't noticed it nestled away in a beautiful corner of Long Island. The menu was varied and the quality of the ingredients used was evident throughout the many courses we enjoyed. I will look forward to our next occasion to dine there.
lovely evening! Our reservation was honored and we were seated upon arrival. The drinks were plentiful & when seated warm bread & cheese & olives were placed on the table. The host, Dominick was very welcoming, especially to newcomers... we WILL be going back.
We were there to celebrate our 34th anniversary.Service was so poor. Took an hour for our main course to come and I had to call over the owner to complain............You would think he would have certainly come to our table to apologize in advance of the long wait but no such thing. He finally saunters over and says I apologize.............that was it..............never to be seen again.
The most insincere apology I've seen in quite some time.
Maybe because it was our anniversary plus the hour wait , he may give us dessert on the house...................no such thing.
Arrogance at its best at your typical L.I expensive restaurant .
Best thing we could do is cross it off the list and rate it lousy as we've done.
They are very accommodating, the food is excellent and we loved the ambiance. It feels like what it is, an upscale Italian Restaurant. It can be a bit pricey but in our opinion it was worth it. The Napoleon dessert was light and flaky. We also attended two large birthday parties here and they did a first rate job. It is a great place for a celebration. The service was excellent each and every time we were here. Attentive but not intrusive.
Luce Ristoranté is one of my favorite restaurants to bring my family and friends! The entire staff is extremely friendly and you are always greeted by the gracious owner, Dominick. Everyone who works there goes above and beyond to ensure your experience is top of the line. The atmosphere is classy, warm and inviting. And the food is to die for! Whenever I get the chance to make it out on the island, I go to Luce! Highly recommend!!!
Let me start by saying it was my first time to Luce but it definitely won't be my last. WOW, where should I begin. We were warmly greeted by our hostess who promptly escorted us to our table. Our waited brought our pre-dinner drinks and menu were I informed him that we were in no rush. He didn't make us feel rushed to order even though the restuarant was completely full. Which was key to a relaxing and enjoyable evening. Now, as for the food, delicious. After our drinks, we ordered two glasses of wine and an appetizer. We had fresh mozzarella, prucuetto, roasted peppers, asparagus, not to mention the sharp cheese and olives which were brought out when we were first seated. They were so fresh and delicious that the flavors actually exploded in your mouths. As a main course, my girlfriend ordered the grilled shrimp w/ vegetables which were to die for. I ordered the cavatelli in a ragu sauce which was simply fantastic. The owner, Dominic, was a pleasure to speak with when he visited our table and was a gracious host. I can not say enough good things about Luce. Top rated all around.
Valentine's Day at LUCE. It should have been memorable and it was...but not for all the right reasons. Let's begin with the good. The food was wonderful. The taste of each dish was excellent, as was the presentation. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It's welcoming and warm, as you would hope.
And then comes the bad news. The service was ABYSMAL. while our waiter was pleasant enough, the level of service was poor at best. When I'm at a restaurant, I expect to feel special, or at least wanted there. Here? Not even close. The entire wait staff seemed to suffer from the same malaise. Instead of helping customers and making their experience pleasant, they're just hanging around, chattering with each other rather loudly and responding slowly to customers, if at all. When I tried to get their attention, it took a lot of effort. I can understand that, at fine restaurants, the wait staff should be unobtrusive, but this went beyond. They really need to retrain their wait staff.
In short, what would have been a five-star meal was ruined by indifferent service. It's a real shame, because the food at LUCE is exquisite.
