LUCE Ristorante - East Norwich Ratings and Reviews
Greeted with a smile by the owner who personally seated us in a nice corner table.
Great service throughout our visit.
Seafood salad appetizer was fresh and the size of an entry.
Risotto is second to none on Long Island.
Each glass of wine was twice the amount you would expect and delicious.
What a terrific dining experience.
I hadn't been to Luce in a lot of years, we previously lived closer but I had remembered the food being very good. I had to leave my credit card to hold the reservation, but I figured they were a busy restaurant that couldn't afford the cancellations. It was a Saturday night and the place was half empty.
And the food? What a disappointment. Having brought friends that own a restaurant just felt embarrassing. The food was dry and just not that great. The service was good and our waiter and hostess were very friendly, but that just didn't make up for the food.
Service was terrible, wait staff barely spoke English, had to ask for everything including menus.
Seafood dish was disgustingly fishy, medium rare lamb chops came out medium.
Waiter spilled half of my wife's martini on the table, never offered another.
Took forever to get our food and check

While I have dined frequently at Luce it was my birthday and I wanted to be sure that my dinner was perfect. This is one of my favorite restaurants because it never disappoints. I anticipated an appetizer and probably the whole roasted Bronzino that they do to perfection. I went for the fresh burrata w/ melon and prosciutto. The dish emphasizes Luce's forte--great ingredients, a superb prosciutto among them. My Bronzino idea was sidetracked by the pasta special-house-made pappardelle with sea scallops and shrimp in a light cream sauce. It was superb. My wife ordered the veal chop and was very pleased with it. There are Italian restaurants and ITALIAN RESTAURANTS. Luce ranks among the very best. Their emphasis on fresh and exceptional ingredients makes the difference.
Luce is one of our very favorites in East Norwich... actually, not limited to East Norwich. One of our favorites, full stop.
Whenever we dine at Luce, the owner, Dominik, always greets us like old friends. The menu is excellent. The wine list is excellent. The service is excellent.
The regular menu has lots of options, and we have never once been disappointed. The specials are usually interesting, and they do not hesitate to tweak the menu to our liking.
Fresh pasta, great fish, top notch salads. Yummy!
Luce is recommended, without question or hesitation!
First time visit, but will be back. The grilled jumbo shrimp on grilled zucchini appetiser was the picture of simplicity but an absolutely note perfect combination of flavours and textures. They should serve it as a main course. Homemade cavatelli with a slow-cooked Bolognese sauce got a rave review, as did the special salad of arugula, grilled watermelon and fresh buffala. Grilled salmon with scallops and spinach was perfectly cooked and substantial. Not a duff plate on the table.
Busy Friday evening clearly had the staff running at their limit, but it was striking how genuinely friendly everyone remained. The attitude clearly starts at the top. Our booking went fro 3 to 6 at the last minute, and so the only table to accommodate us was by the door, but the owner went out of his way to make sure we were happy. It’s tough to fault a restaurant for being popular, and we forgot about the location once the food arrived. It says something about a business when you see smiles on the faces of the staff even under the pressure of a full house.
Not a flaw, but a fact - hard surfaces mean this is not a quiet venue, at least when every table is occupied . Clearly lots of locals and regulars, and the atmosphere is relaxed. Looking forward to a return visit.
My husband and I love Luce, and we frequent it often. The ambiance is perfect and the food is of high quality and truly delicious. We've never had a disappointing meal or dining experience at Luce. The staff is both friendly and accommodating, and it consistently provides outstanding service. The owner goes above and beyond to make us feel like family. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
The food is delicious, but the service is so poor that I won't be going back. I tried the restaurant after taking a two-year hiatus because of the bad service. I was really disappointed that it was just as bad as the last time I was there.
A great find! A gem! We loved it! Didn't want to leave! Can't wait to go back!
Owner Dominick greeted us at the door & showed us to our table. Luce's decor is comforting calming & conducive to good eating. (The only fault we could find is that the overhead lighting doesn't quite match Luce's name. If it did then: perfection!)
Cheese, olives & warm fresh bread were at our table in seconds. So was a very generous pour of wine. (Some softened butter in ramekins would be more welcome than the commercial packets in foil. And more in keeping with the rest of Luce's high standards.)
Luce boasts an interesting inventive menu. We were in the mood for mainstream however, so that's what we ordered.
We had the best Caesar salad! So many clams in the Linguini Vongole it was exhausting! Black Linguini alla Pescatore filled with mussels, scallops, shrimp & clams. Both meals were equally scrumptious & surprisingly light.
Dessert absolutely wowed us! Banana Cream Pie sounds so pedestrian right? You know what's coming to the table right? No you don't. Not if you have it at Luce. Presentation was ethereal. Not a "slice of pie" in any way shape or form. Delicately sliced bananas over a barely there cream (almost a sauce), kissed with caramel, embraced by a light & fluffy crust that refused to get in the way of the other elements.
Would you like to hear about the Strawberry Napoleon? OMG the presentation! The word deconstructed comes to mind. So does delicious. Three distinct layers of crust mixed with the lightest Napoleon cream you have ever tasted. How do they get it to be so light? Never had anything like it. Can't wait to try all the other familiar desserts made into something new & unique with the Luce touch. Even the Cappuccino was special.
Kudos to the attentive wait staff who made the night so memorable. Our first time at Luce will not soon be forgotten. We recommend everyone on Long Island & beyond come to this jewel in the heart of Oyster Bay. Thanks Luce!
