Food was as expected, good. James was a very good server, just friendly enough, very professional and did everything to accomodate our special allergy requests. He made the evening special and very enjoyable.

The food is great : high quality ingredients, outstanding taste!
Our server was exceptional! His passion about great cuisine was influential and his introduction of the food was poetic.

Was looking forward to Michelin star dining but found it a good not memorable meal which was disappointing. Situated on main floor in the Intercontinental, the room is spacious and tables/booths large and reasonably spaced.
Nice amuse bouche, main course was good but ordinary and even dessert did not overwhelm. Nice touch of macaroon at end.
It's a restaurant to be recommended as good solid place to eat - just a Michelin star - definitely not that night!

Great father & son dining experience at this Michelin Star restaurant. The food was amazing, our favorites were the sweetbread ravioli in truffle emulsion for an appetizer, duck breast cooked sous vide for an entree, and pavlova for dessert.

Very disappointed by the brunch on Christmas Day. 95 $ bubbling formula with not even real Champagne and a very limited choice at the buffet. Much too expensive for what we had.

Overall the Christmas brunch was good --however I did not feel that it lived up to it's $95 per person price tag. We've paid similar prices for Cliff House and found the selection of food for Christmas brunch to be limited. We expected something more 'special' or seasonal. While the bottomless mimosas are nice, the food itself was good but not great. Omlette bar, beef tenderloin, a little bit of shrimp and salmon, some dim sum, dessert bar. For the cost, there should have been something more spectacular that showed off the Michelin ratings. Instead we felt that we just had an overpriced meal.

To be honest, my husband and I were pretty disappointed. For a 100$/person Christmas brunch, I expected more than beef tenderloin, shrimp and an omelette station. The unlimited bubbly was great though, don’t get me wrong, I just wasn’t as blown away as I have been in the past while just simply visiting the lounge on the 6th floor. At the minimum, from a menu perspective, I expected at least smoked salmon, perhaps some Christmas cocktails like eggnog and/or baileys on the house, a pianist playing Christmas music etc. We arrived at 10:55 am, 5 min early yet waited until 11:20am (for our 11am reservation) to be seated, no drinks or updates were offered. Being that we were the first seating, we expected the dining room to be ready at least 15min prior to the expected seating time so shouldn’t have had to wait or at least have been offered a glass of champagne while we waited. The salmon was very, very fishy and some were even undercooked. We didn’t mention that fact but a server pointed it out and brought it to the back to the chef on their own accord. We really wanted to like it, especially after visiting friends while they stayed in the hotel and experienced the service and value they received for their money but I can’t honestly say we were blown away for the 240$ we spent on Christmas Day for just 2 people.

We went there for Christmas brunch. It was advertised as having an omelette station and dim sum station. It had neither. There were 3 omelette options on the menu, but you could not create your own (as advertised). Way over priced. The eggs were the consistency of quinoa and the french toast was dry. We were there for less than 20 minutes. Horrible experience.

We had reserved a table for dinner on Christmas Eve and we’re aware that the restaurant was serving a ‘special’ 3 course menu for $115 + taxes and tips. Although this seemed expensive, we were aware that Luce had a Michelin Star so we’re looking forward to an excellent meal.

Unfortunately the restaurant did not at all meet our expectations. We were effectively seated in the lobby, outside the main restaurant. The service was very average and the food very ordinary and not at all up to Michelin Star standards. I cannot understand how Luce has a Michelin Star when the food they serve is very average and certainly no better than we experienced in other restaurants in San Francisco. I have eaten in many restaurants in London and other cities that have been awarded a Michelin Star and they were all far superior.

Overall an extremely disappointing experience and a $300 bill for two with the least expensive bottle of wine.

I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Came here with multi gen family— teens to grandparents. I was trying to find a festive place close to SFMOMA with great food & service. The food &service were excellent and everyone who worked there from waiter to coat checker were professional and friendly A+ for that. The food was yummy and creative although small portions if you were looking to eat hearty -we were not. The atmosphere is elegant albeit a bit on the cold and sterile side. It is in a hotel lobby. Nothing festive regarding the holidays to make it stand out out. However pretty nonetheless. Note Very cool black water glasses.

Lovely business lunch with a client & LOVED the shrimp roll!! The service is super friendly & attentive too. I wish the design wasn’t so stuffy though. As a designer it seems outdated & could use a refresh to still be high end, but cozier.

Perhaps I don’t quite understand the hype about Michelin starred restaurants. The food was ok but not great — a nice simple green salad, very good halibut, and a slow cooked New York strip that was underwhelming. The service was off — like what you’d expect in a hotel restaurant — and the restaurant’s location on the hotel’s main floor makes for a noisy experience from people at the nearby lobby bar watching sports on TV or the car and pedestrian traffic right on the street outside the restaurant. I love this hotel and will stay here again and again, but should have known better than to eat in a hotel restaurant — even one that has earned a Michelin star — in a fabulous food city like San Francisco.

Restaurant is quiet and pleasant. The menu is rather limited, maybe 6-7 main entrees. The presentation of the food is way better than the actual flavors, as a salmon appetizer, green salad and halibut dishes were lovely to look at but although very fresh, rather ordinary in their flavorings. I guess if you like food prepared VERY simply you might like this. I appreciate smaller portion sizes, but for $35+ the halibut portion could practically be eaten in 3 bites. I've had far better meals for half the price.

I love LUCE. I have now dined there 4 or 5 times and the food is always outstanding -- interesting and creative without being "fussy" with excellent ingredients and wine pairings. And the service is over-the-top: We were going on to the opera on a Saturday night and unfortunately couldn't spend the time that dinner deserved. Our waitperson alerted the kitchen and managed to get us our food in a timely fashion without us feeling rushed -- we even got to get dessert and coffee! And by the time we left it seemed everyone in the restaurant had been informed that we were going to the opera and they needed to facilitate our getting there on time. Which we did.

Food was generally good. The savory madeleines were delicious. However, food was not exceptional. The octopus that came with the halibut dish appeared to have sand in it. In addition I did not appreciate the call I received from the restaurant earlier in the day telling me that that the kitchen would be breaking down at the time we booked our reservation for and so we would have to order quickly. In my opinion if the restaurant makes a reservation time available, it suggests to me that it will welcome diners arriving at that hour and will not rush them their orders or their dinner. To the credit of our server, he did not rush us during dinner, but the call from earlier in the day left me feeling a bit like we were inconveniencing them for coming. For that reason I would not recommend the restaurant to others.

We were vacationing and family sent us gift certificate to use at restaurant. As soon as we told our server about the gift card which we were supposed to do, his attitude changed abruptly. This was not a discounted coupon, simply a gift card to use. Food was okay, but the only thing to rave about was the risotto. The flippant server ruined the experience. The server who actually presented our main courses would have been much better, but we only sa2 him for that. We have been to quite a few Michelin star restaurants and this was disappointing.

Excellent special occasion lunch at this restaurant. I had short ribs and it was clearly one of the best I've had if not the best. The chef here is amazing! Would recommend this place and look forward to coming back again. My only issue is that I had called to remind the restaurant as well as mention to my waiter that it was my wife's birthday. As is the case for every other restaurant, we get a complimentary desert, however there were no candles? Every birthday needs a cake with candles, don't get me wrong me wrong we appreciate the kind gesture for the cake, but it would of been 100% perfection if they provided the candles.

Great place for a business meal. Close to transportation, Moscone Center.
Features Piero Patri's humanist architecture, and a mindful energy efficient plant.
Dominique Crenna's touch is not too heavy on the breakfast, brunch and lunch menu, which makes it more accessible to our international visitors. Recommend the staff particularly for an attentive but not obtrusive presence.

My son and I wanted to dine at a Michelin star restaurant and this was fantastic. We had the 9 course tasting menu paired with wines. Each course was simply remarkable and sublime. The service couldn’t have been any better. Truly a memorable dining experience. Price was ok too compared with other tasting menus at other Michelin star restaurants.

Absolutely amazing food, topped with top notch service. Our server James provided every piece of information we need without us asking for it. We were very well looked after, with the right amount of banter. We were left alone to enjoy our evening but not feel like we were forgotten. One of the best service we have ever experienced. Cannot fault the food either, we ordered from a la cart and every was delicious. I particularly like the beet starter and the duck main course. We highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions.

A Michelin star restaurant, needs more that great food!
The meal was excellent, creative, beautiful presentation, but the ambiance was a turned off. Impersonal, too big,. I knew it was a hotel and by the pictures knew it was not sexy, but really, if you have a special occasion, you want to feel special. To have a beautiful glass of a sparkling wine, you want to be looking at a wonderful space... at the end of the night, the staff was setting the tables for breakfast for the next morning of the hotel guests ....in the same space I was having this wonderful meal....
I would love to see this chef someplace else...

This was a birthday dinner for me and everything was perfect. I loved the interesting flavors, the beautiful presentation and obvious skill, creativity and thought that went into every dish and detail.

It is a part of the Intercontinental hotel which is also very impressive and parking was nearby in the 5th and mission street garage.

The duck and foo grad appetizer was a perfect meal for me eating according to a ketogenic diet, though I did indulge a little at the end with some dessert with the 3 cheese plate. It was all so good.
