Had an absolutely lovely Thanksgiving dinner at Luce. Delicious offerings, including butternut squash soup and beet and arugula salad. The turkey was magnificent, as were side dishes of stuffing, yams and mashed potatoes. Dessert was very good. Portions were plentiful. If you are not going to cook at home, this was a perfect alternative for a special holiday dinner.

What a great evening we had at Luce, we ordered the 8 courses tasting menu and every single dish was awesome, the service was exceptional Keith was very attentive and had a perfect timing throughout the evening,
To really enjoy a tasting menu everything has to be right the food, the service and the timing and it sure was!!

We did the 8 course tasting menu, which was flavorful but you do need to budget some time for this. We were there for about 3.5 hours to get through all 8 courses. Most of the time was spent waiting in between each course. But it was quite good, though the one item we ordered from the vegetarian menu, to replace the beef course since we don't eat beef, just wasn't done as well as everything else.

My husband and I met in San Francisco and were fortunate to get a reservation at Luce. The amuse-bouche just exploded and blossomed, changing flavors in my mouth. It was delightful! And the courses did not disappoint! Literally, every new bite was absolutely amazing! Finishing with the most amazing desserts was a wonderful way to complete our dining experience. The icing on the cake was when Chef Rogelio came to our table and chatted with us before we departed. Overall, the experience was a treat. Do not miss out on Luce when traveling to San Francisco!

Happened into Luce out last night in San Francisco and were pleasantly surprised. The space was very upscale and elegant. The food was superb. And the service was top notch. Will definitely be going back when next in San Francisco.

We did the 8 course tasting menu with an added course of pasta + truffle.

First course was caviar on banana bread. The sauce really lifted this dish
Second course was crab in a cauliflower soup which was fabulous.
Third dish was toro tuna with avocado. The dish was incredibly well balanced
Forth dish was cod with rice. The broth this came in was phenomenal and so was the fish. Crispy skin. Probably the best dish
Fifth course was poached fish and it was like butter
Sixth course was the pasta course we added. It was okay but underwhelming. The pasta was well cooked and the sauce did a good job not drowning out the truffle but there was not enough truffle flavour
Seventh course was duck. Mine was perfect but my partner’s was chewy. I finished hers and can confirm it was chewy.
Eighth course was venison which was beautiful
Ninth course was an apple pie panna cotta. The jelly in the bottom was heavy on gelatine but the rest was great
Tenth course was a chocolate caramel dessert. The different textures in this really made it. The flavours were well rounded and worked together
Eleventh course were two small sweets. One was a pomegranate tart and the other a chocolate hazelnut cake. Both had great flavour

Overall the food was 4/5. The reason we found this place to be 5/5 was because of the service James provided. He lives and breaths customer service. He was incredibly attentive and took great care in sharing the background of the chef and restaurant as well as all the food we were eating. His level of service is what I like to see in Michelin star restaurants as it elevates the overall experience.

Luce is back and better than before. Chef Garcia thoughtfully composed an ode to the bounty of California. The courses are creative, decadent, and well paced. The dishes are clearly designed to bring highlights to the impeccably fresh produce. An unforgettable meal, this was truly a feast for the palate.

Impeccable dining. A culinary delight from start to finish. We loved it so much the first visit for our anniversary, that we brought four friends for a reunion to share with them this exquisite dining experience. Chef Rogelio Garcia is a artist and completely deserving of his Michelin Star rating. Each plate was a such an aesthetic pleasure to admire and then turn over to the palette to delight in the subtle, sophisticated flavors and surprising textures. Not to be missed!

Five plus stars given to Executive Chef Rogilio and staff for delivering a spot on culinary adventure at Luce which is inside the InterContinental Hotel in SF. Open arriving we noted that COVID policy was is in place and all employees were masked. Luce is an elegantly decorated space with tables comfortably placed. There is a welcoming ambiance immediately noted. Staff, especially the two James that were attending to us, were professional, personable and everyone was impeccably dressed. Excellent suggestions were made and all our questions answered. We started off with a glass of Champaign sent from Chef to accompany our Amuse-Bushe of Osetra Caviar with Buck-Wheat Buttermilk blini. Such delicate and elegant flavors were delivered with this course. It was clear that we were on our way to a culinary journey that would be full of explosive flavor profiles accompanied by the perfect dinnerware to compliment each offering. We selected the Chefs tasting menu. Were were not disappointed as each course served was visually pleasing, truly art work paired with the perfect serving wear Not only was each dish a flavor bomb but was clearly created with such precision. If I had to pick my favorite was the Norwegian King Crab so tender and well put together.Chef Rogilio came out and visited a few tables. We were fortunate that he stopped by ours. He is a humble man that immediately gave praise to his staff. He shared his farmers market adventure in selecting fresh ingredients for our offering this evening. In talking with Chef you could tell his passion for perfection and it certainly translated to the meal we were served. There is good food everywhere to be found. What we are looking for is a complete dining experience that involves all aspects of culinary service. We definitely found it at Luce with Chef Rogilio and Staff. Simply put it is elegance, passion, commitment and vision for locating and creating the best ingredients out there. Bravo Chef

Every single bite was outstanding. The progression was perfection. Make sure to get the wine pairing…it elevates the experience even more. Our server was truly there to make sure that we enjoyed ourselves. We felt completely taken care of throughout the entire experience. Just amazing.

We shared that we were celebrating our anniversary and the host promptly brought over two glasses of bubbly for us to start our celebration! Seating was socially distanced, which also resulted in a more intimate dining experience. The drinks and food was 5 star, and we will absolutely be going back.

Highly recommend!

The Michelin starred Luce is known as one of the best restaurants in San Francisco where it is relatively easy to get a reservation. We were looking for a last minute celebratory dinner and Luce turned out to be perfect. If you don't choose the Tasting Menu (which my wife won't do) they have a wonderfully tight a la carte menu, with just 6 appetizers and 4 mains. Having few choices means that they take great care and pride in each course, and of the 6 courses we had, all were very good. Service was very friendly and not at all stuffy. It was also pretty quiet, which is unusual in a SF restaurant, so if you like conversation, this is an especially good choice. Lots of wines by the glass and even half-bottles for moderate drinkers. Nice dessert choices as well. Would like to come back to try their tasting menu. For what you get, prices are reasonable, though not cheap.

It is beyond me why Luce was not full and why people we spoke with in SF did not know about this restaurant. What an excellent decision to visit and dine there. To clarify, we did not stay at the InterContinental hotel but chose to eat at Luce. Although they are in between chefs, the quality, taste, and presentation were worthy of Michelin stars. Service and ambiance were equally fantastic. A rare find!

Extremely poor value. $68.51 for a bowl of oatmeal, a side of wheat toast, a ham and cheese omelet, and two cups of coffee is hugely disappointing. Next time I will take my meeting elsewhere and save my money.
