cold without heating and slow service. Food quality was also poor.
We shared that we were celebrating our anniversary and the host promptly brought over two glasses of bubbly for us to start our celebration! Seating was socially distanced, which also resulted in a more intimate dining experience. The drinks and food was 5 star, and we will absolutely be going back.
Highly recommend!
I like this restaurant. We enjoyed the dinner so much again. The service and food are the first class. cfg
Excellent food and service!
Excellent service and food, will happily return.
excellent food and service with fantastic decor
The Michelin starred Luce is known as one of the best restaurants in San Francisco where it is relatively easy to get a reservation. We were looking for a last minute celebratory dinner and Luce turned out to be perfect. If you don't choose the Tasting Menu (which my wife won't do) they have a wonderfully tight a la carte menu, with just 6 appetizers and 4 mains. Having few choices means that they take great care and pride in each course, and of the 6 courses we had, all were very good. Service was very friendly and not at all stuffy. It was also pretty quiet, which is unusual in a SF restaurant, so if you like conversation, this is an especially good choice. Lots of wines by the glass and even half-bottles for moderate drinkers. Nice dessert choices as well. Would like to come back to try their tasting menu. For what you get, prices are reasonable, though not cheap.
It is beyond me why Luce was not full and why people we spoke with in SF did not know about this restaurant. What an excellent decision to visit and dine there. To clarify, we did not stay at the InterContinental hotel but chose to eat at Luce. Although they are in between chefs, the quality, taste, and presentation were worthy of Michelin stars. Service and ambiance were equally fantastic. A rare find!
Extremely poor value. $68.51 for a bowl of oatmeal, a side of wheat toast, a ham and cheese omelet, and two cups of coffee is hugely disappointing. Next time I will take my meeting elsewhere and save my money.
Everything was wonderful. Food and service were outstanding. We enjoyed the dinner so much!
Great food - newly remodeled with result of lovely ambience. Wonderful service.
This place is simply the best in San Francisco
The food and service was excellent. My server, Keith, was very nice and friendly. We had tasting menu and it was delicious. Thank you
Delicious food, fantastic service, beautiful space, and easy to talk shop over our meal.
The lunch menu is not very exciting. Although my meal of Organic Grain bowl was very tasty, it was surprisingly the most exciting looking thing on the lunch menu.
The business lunch is a great deal and the room looks wonderful at daytime.
A very quiet Sunday night. Really mixed meal as some of the food items were exquisitely well prepared but the service Dash while always friendly Dash didn’t match the Michelin star experience of matching A guest with the food.
We were surprised at first to discover that the tasting experience was not available on Sunday, but understood. My wife’s proclaimed her ravioli Appetizer to be the best she had ever eaten anywhere, and she is a chef instructor. Was a bit more work to convince the restaurant to make an entrée a scallop appetizer into an appetizer portion. My wife later mentioned that the menu explicitly states that no substitutions are allowed. Is it really a Michelin star experience if you can’t customize your meal to some extent?
We both ordered the strip steak entrée which was well prepared and beautifully presented. And the onion jam was particularly enjoyable.
I was disappointed however that with only five diners in the restaurant I had to ask multiple times if an entrée could be served as a smaller appetizer portion.
While this was an extremely slow Sunday night, it seemed that the staff was more attuned to following kitchen instructions then to providing a guest experience. Again, the staff was extremely cordial and friendly, but their training didn’t give them the leeway to work with a guest rather than follow direction. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and eager to learn when offered a glass of wine. I view this completely as a training/directional issue from management that can be improved.
We did the chef's tasting table with wine pairing. Amazing. The portions were in the right size - i.e. small enough so you could enjoy each course from start to finish. Each course was served with nice explanations of how the dish was prepared.
Service was amazing.
It would be a tad nicer if it was a view restaurant, but the food more than made up for this. We had an enjoyable two and a half hour dinner and loved just talking and enjoying the amazing food.
Service was exceptional.
Very good experience here, nice staffs and service.
I liked the food and service although it was pricey.
Food is pretty good. Unfortunate it does not have restaurant week menu, we were hoping to get that with this reservation. Service and excellent, environment is great! Suitable for dating, special occasion or business dining.
First time here, came for my friend’s birthday. Breakfast was really good. We chose to order off the menu instead of the buffet, although the buffet looked pretty amazing! We had Shakshouka and Smoked salmon Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was the best I ever tasted! Would come again.
Truly an amazing service and of course delicious food and outstanding desserts ! We celebrate my birthday and received free champagne for all crew and an amazing kind stuff , the wine list is superb!!
There’s no restaurant week dinner though. Be careful
I treat myself to fine dining once a year...you did not disappoint!
James was by far the best waiter I have ever had. The staff anticipated our every need and provided an experience that was first class.
The food from the ravioli appetizer to the main courses were amazing. The scallops were cooked perfectly, the pork chop was moist and flavorful and the chicken was the beat I have ever had.
I would recommend this hidden gem to anyone visiting San Francisco.
Had a great experience at Luce SF for my 21st birthday. Was given a complimentary chocolate cake along with caramel macaroons and a cashew fudge. The scallops were absolutely delicious as were the octopus and ravioli. Definitely would recommend.
Wonderful dinner,! The best in our trip to SF. Very good food, service .
Delicious food, excellent service. Be prepared to be there a long time though
Fabulous meal- never disappointed. The beets with berries and macadamia was an outstanding dish. The entire experience was fantastic and appreciated after a very long day of travel.
Was skittles hesitant on going here because it has a 3.5 rating on yelp but I am so so glad I came here. The food was absolutely divine, our servers were so kind, and the ambience was perfect!! I see why it’s been consistently awarded a Michelin Star every year since 2009 because the food was perfectly well balanced and not too much of anything. Whenever I visit SF again, this is the first place I’m heading to because it checks off everything I look for in a restaurant!! 10/10 recommend and it’s truly worth every penny
The chef may have been on vacation, but the intent to please on the wait staff was definitely out of town
Beautifully plated, well balanced flavors.
Lovely Christmas dinner, fixed price. Food was very good and the wine pairing was wonderful. Looking forward to going back again!
We arrived for Christmas brunch buffet which was smaller than a normal brunch buffet. The food was OK - nothing to brag about. However, the cleanliness was appalling. We were seated at a window 2-top table which had an old filthy orange privacy screen covering the window. The porcelain cream holder had smeared dried food on it, and we didnt even want to touch it.
Great place
Servers were personsble and responsive
Will go back
As an European family, lived in and out of US, having dined in multiple upscale/Michelin-restaurants, Luce resembles one of the basic hotel downstairs diners. On a Christmas Eve, they were serving only one selected menu for $115 per person, which was fine, as we celebrated Christmas out of town. The first issue occurred with the lack of the paired wines/wine package, which I think is a must-have with any menu you serve. The server said we could split some rose between me and my husband (?!) even though we had different starters. We agreed to pick the wines ourselves, which was quite difficult, as the waiter took the menus with him. After a long wait - and after the amuse bouche, which was more like a pre-taste to a sweet dessert -he came back to ask if we have found the right pairings. Without the menu it was quite a conundrum. We requested to meet a sommelier (there was none), but got the manager who made a few nice suggestions for the pairings. At this point, we were quite ok: the first course of beets, tartar and the scallops were all very tasty and highly recommended, while matching the recommended wines perfectly. After that, the main courses were beyond poor - type of foods you can enjoy for a few bites and then discard. Why on Earth would you soak a seared, crispy-skinned snapper in a broth, where it dissolves into a mush? The chicken was nicely cooked but way too salty, and the sauce was very damp, lacking the fresh, acid sides that would accompany it. One of my kids having a NY strip said the knife couldn't cut through the meat, and he had a hard time chewing it - Knowing him, this is a real issue. I also tried the meat and it was horrifying, you would need teeth of steel for that meat. My younger kid a mac&cheese from the kids menu, also lacked a taste and the texture - tried that - you ca do better with Kraft! We left without the dessert, got some discounts but being our Christmas supper, I was in tears to have this experience, we left before dessert.
Luce is a very good, friendly service and excellent food with very artful presentation. The location near Moscone Center is convenient for driving or using public transportation.
New interior, new menu, but still with some old favorites. The addition of some sandwich choices for lunch is nice and I'm glad my favorite--the seared salmon with quinoa and avocado is still there. Food is nicely presented and has great flavor. Service is always great. Highly recommend for lunch or dinner.
Very good!
