The service was great and the food was good. The problem is with the ambiance. This is a big restaurant and there very few customers even on a Saturday night. It feels rather cold inside.
Fabulous date night dinner. Get the tasting menu with pairing!!
Waiter didn’t seem like he was having a good time. He was very short with us, and barely attended to our table. We had the tasting menu. The food itself was pretty good, but not that special. Nothing really amazed me. The dessert wasn’t great either. I don’t recommend another visit.
Food was very good, although a few of the items on the menu didn't sound as appetizing as one might have imagined. It could have done with being a little warmer in temperature.
Service was very friendly and knowledgeable, albeit perhaps a little slow. The restaurant is nice but struggles to fully shake the hotel lobby ambience.
Not Crowded so we could stay as long as we want to
As always Luce is the best. Great service and great food and a great location.
Decent hotel restaurant. Nothing to write home about.
Great venue for a casual lunch--personal or business. Service was great. Food was great. Highly recommended.
Food was beautifully presented and the flavours of the ingredients came through clearly. Wonderful experience!
The limited menu was well executed and the quality of ingredients was excellent. The flavors did not pop as much as I would have expected, I had the butternut squash appetizer and it was essential steamed squash overpowered by highly acidic pickled radish. It did not work for me. However, the steak and fish main courses were very good. Service was excellent, but the restaurant was fairly empty. It was pre-theater, so I will assume it was just that we were on the early side of the evening. With 1 Michelin Star, I really would expect the place to be more packed and I would have expected more pleasant surprises to my meal.
Continues to be one of my most favorite restaurants in San Francisco. Really like all of the little extras the restaurant provides. You are made to feel immediately at home. The waiters are consistently great and the food wonderful!
Highly recommend! The food was phenomenal! The service was impeccable in the ambience lovely. It was the perfect pair for dinner just prior to seeing Hamilton.
My friend and I went this resataurant for celebrating our birthdays. It was rainy day the business looked very slow. But the food was excellent, and the waiter was very friendly, we ordered the dessert, he told us they were on the house. This place made us so happy. We will defineyly go back.
The food tasted great but the portions were so small it was laughable. Service was great too
Food was stellar, interior is stylish and modern with high ceilings, quiet. Perfect for date night or important business dinners! Light fixtures offer a contemporary airy disposition, with high windows surrounding. It feels like high end at its finest and up there with Dining Room at the Ritz and former institutions like Masa, Fleur de Lys with local fresh ingredients that are packed with flavor like the Ravioli with shaved truffle, delicate Halibut!
The waiter made a couple of mistake and argued that this is what my customer had ordered. I heard whet he ordered and it was not what was brought to the table
We visit during weekend brunch. The food is quite good, fully satisfied. Only one thing I noticed was the chair we sit were a bit old and damaged.
Food was great. Smaller portions but they make sure to give you little things of bread/palate cleansers in between. By the end with dessert we were full. The ravioli and duck was amazing!! Definitely a place for a special occasion. Definitely will stay a night at the hotel next time. Would come back again.
Service was excellent however the servings are very scant. I have seen small servings before but the entrees were smaller than an appetizer at similarly priced restaurants.
We won’t be back.
Valentine’s Day after the Symphony. We went for the 9 course Tasting Menu. We enjoy tasting menus because, even if not all of the plates are ones that we would have chosen individually, it displays the chef’s imagination and skill. We did the wine pairing also. The menu was shellfish, fish, pasta and duck so the wines were whites, rose and very light reds. Not my normal selection of wines but each went well with the paired dish, which is the point! Each plate was skillfully prepared, artfully plated, meticulously presented and carefully described. Following the matinee of Bach and Mendelssohn, this was the perfect way to finish the Valentine’s Day celebration.
Great experience. Menu was unique and delicious. It’s clear the chef is a risk-taker and is a master of their craft. Would love to come here again.
It took 10 mins for us to be seated despite a reservation . The place was loud and tasting menu was not available. Service was good initially but then our server disappeared .
Also the Menu was short and catered to conference. Luckily the food was good and otherwise would have been a total disaster.
Worst service in any Michelin restaurant!
Great service, love the broccoli and other buffet items. Have been before, will go again. Lovely assortment of fruits, meat & cheese, protein options, and more.
What a disappointment! My fiancé and I were all excited to use an open table gift card at a Michelin star restaurant, but overall the food was mediocre at best. Though beautifully presented, the bass was not very flavorful and the potatoes were undercooked. My fiancé’s steak dish was slightly better flavored, but a very small portion. We’d recommended splurging elsewhere.
Brunch is very bad. Basic low quality food from the hotel bar menu.
Tasting menu is not available for brunch.
At a restaurant like this one, I would expect the server to offer fresh ground pepper whenever they serve a salad. This was not done here, and when we requested fresh ground pepper, it took 3 tries and 10 minutes for it to arrive.
We went for restaurant week and the prawns and steak were exceptional and the desserts were amazing as well but the snapper and the squash left something to be desired even for the reduced restaurant week price. The squash was served cold and was kind of grainy and hard and the snapper and the lettuce and sauce it came with weren't flavorful. The flavors just didn't really go together on that dish. Great wine selection and service and the bread was also great!
We visited Luce during restaurant week
The food was excellent especially the pan seared snapper.
This was my first time dining at Luce - won’t be my last!
Food is okay. The New York Strip Steak was overcooked (I asked for medium rare). Desert is great.
I had the King salmon. It was cooked perfectly. Crisp skin and moist filet.
Went here during SF Restaurant Week and to conclude it is overpriced hotel restaurant that tries hard but can't deliver. I would not recommend it unless it's 50% less than what we paid. I would want to know how they get their Michelin stars as i can't believe they earned it, must be bought.
Food: they try to make it look fancy and all but the flavors are basic. Like seriously nothing that impressed me or gf.
Sauce with stake sucked, tasted like a worcestershire sauce :/
Dessert was the WORST. Ice cream cake that was probably bought in the box from a store are you serious?!?! They should be embarrassed...
If you have been to other Michelin star restaurants avoid this. If you've never been avoid this because it will ruin it for you.
Located in the Intercontinental Hotel, the environment is truly too loud. The food was OK, but not very worth the price.
The waiter Samier, was excellent and the food was accomplished and plentiful. The dining room was quiet enough for conversation but still lively feeling. Definitely a Michelin Star experience.
Nice birthday dinner. Good value due to dining about town. Great service.
Luce is one of the hidden gems of SF. Their food is fabulous and well thought out. The quality is consistently very high, and presentation is wonderful. We went to several SF Restaurant Week menu restaurants, and Luce is one of the most generous in the $25 menu. They don't skimp on their quality nor quantity for Restaurant Week. Their normal lunches and dinners are fantastic and great value for money. I love this restaurant, and I highly recommended it!!!
Luce is my neighborhood favorite. Next door to the Dugoni UOP Dental School, it’s perfect for business and entertaining . Dr R
Good service and food!!!!
Staff was great. The food was ok- most of the dishes were room temp. The butternut soup was hot but too thin
