A few months ago we had a lovely meal hear however upon this return visit everything fell apart. Service was so slow we kept having to call staff over, wrong drinks, missed sides, Nd both main meals were over seasoned with so much salt we both left our food. We left and paid the bill before desert as we were so disappointed.
This could be a staffing issue due to the pandemic but sadly we won't be returning.
No one to greet us on arrival so I thought there must be a different entrance. Given a table by the door but offered a different one when she saw my displeasure! Food nice, good value as included a drink. We spilt Parmesan on the table from the broccoli side but wasn’t cleared before dessert. All in all good and would return.
Well all I can say really is terrible from start to finish. Waited for quite a while to get our drinks that we ordered, when my meal came the chicken was so over cooked and dry that there was almost no chicken on there to eat. No one came to ask if the meal was ok, or at that point I would of sent it back. We waited quite a long time for the meal to come out to, we ordered desert as we were still hungry, two deserts came out the other two didn’t so we said to server we are still waiting for two deserts to come out which were tiramisu, when we eventually got the deserts they were tasteless, no coffee flavour or alcohol taste, it was just like eating cream. We did notice quite a few people walking out because no one was serving them, not even drinks. This was supposed to be a special occasion for my son who is being deployed as he is in the military, but I have to say it was one of the worst meals I have ever had and I will not be returning and certainly would not recommend to anyone
Food wine and service were all great. We sat outside in the evening sun which was lovely but the inside seating was a bit lacking in atmosphere
Amazing food. Very helpful staff. Would definitely recommend
Jazz music in the background was too loud and not our taste. Shame about the 2 dead flies in the glass of wine. Food was good but the steak was very peppery so it would have been good if this had been stated on the menu. We also felt rushed as we were in and out in an hour
Lovely outdoor area with lots of greenery. The staff are wonderful and so attentive, couldn’t do enough for you. The food was good but just wish the menu was a bit more varied.
2nd visit in as many weeks and not disappointed. The staff are attentive & professional without being stuffy. The restaurant interior is lovely - exposed brick walls and sharp tables & tableware. The music is ragtime/jazz - no O Sole Mio here!!! And the food is just wow. We had the focaccia, olives & stuffed peppers for the table followed by the prosciutto with melon & meatballs, then spaghetti alla pomodoro (so rich & tasty) finishing with affogato. Fellow diners had gnocchi & steak & both pronounced them to be delicious.
Not a cheap meal (we had wine the first visit which was wonderful - this time we had aperol spritz then beer as it was so warm outside) but in our view worth every penny for the occasion. I will definitely return when I am next I. Dorchester
As an allergy sufferer I’m always reluctant to eat out but here I was so well looked after. The staff were informative and I felt very safe.
The only negative was the manager who came to the table to “train” a member of staff. His attitude was very demeaning and, quite honestly, the young lady in question was already doing a superb job. It was unnecessary and her discomfort at this man’s overbearing display was evident. By all means train staff but to help them not to make you feel important. Plate carrying lessons should really be completed away from the customers.
Other than that incident I cannot praise this place enough. The food was superb, there was a good selection of drinks and the prices were very reasonable. We will definitely return.
Great atmosphere, great food, fair prices
Very nice location, attentive service , varied menu lovely atmosphere , intimate for couples overall a must eat place in Dorchester.
Exceptional food at v reasonable prices. This is a destination restaurant. Our two lunchtime meals have provided faultless starters, mains and deserts. The gnocchi , spaghetti and Knickerbocker glory ( with a pavlova top!) would be noteworthy in top London restaurants. The wine by the glass included is v passable. Amazed how quiet it is at lunch so no buzz but time with staff then great.
Just terrible! The whole experience. Overpriced and deeply disappointing food.
amazing, the waiter was so lovely :)
Food was cold, the staff were just standing around aimlessly and for what we ordered and ate, was NOT up to standard to what we ordered.
Amazing pasta, good service.
Had a cozy terrace with a heater that kept us all warm, the food was outstanding ! A great selection of snacks and tasty starters ! The meatballs are still my favourite. Had the lobster pasta ! After debating over the truffle pasta, I whet with a solid main, and I was not disappointed ... unlike my crab linguini I had had at the IVY in london.... the week before, which I would of rather not eaten as it was chewy amd lacked any flavour except being heavily watered down... where as at Luccios the pasta alone was perfectly cooked and excellently seasoned and the generous portion size trumped that of the IVY for half the money ! What a bargain !
I can’t wait for another excuse to head to Dorchester, it has gained a really IT place to eat out in !
Great food again. Second time back since lockdown changes allowed. Had a great seat in the sun.
I've been wanting to go to Luccio's for some time. Two of my bookings were cancelled due to Covid. I finally got there on Sunday 25th April. The Terrace is a lovely place to be. The chairs are comfortable and the ambience exactly what you want for al fresco dining. The waiting staff were friendly and efficient. I was there with my daughter who is vegetarian. She was delighted with the variety that the menu offered her. It's always good to eat fresh, homemade pasta and Luccio's certainly delivers on this front. An excellent plate of pasta and a very decent glass of wine for £12.50 would be hard to beat anywhere. We looked across to Pizza Express and realised we'd pay far more there for a 'chain restaurant' pizza.....without a drink. I have already booked to go again.
The food was delicious and we was lucky to have a nice sunny day.
When you ask for any special request / occasion we was actually celebrating my partners birthday which was on the 10th April. It was the first time I had been home since Christmas as I work away..
we did not receive any recognition to the fact it was a special occasion. Should we have mentioned it on arrival it’s just we are very polite.
Great food great service. Thank you once again for a lovely enjoyable meal.
Lovely restaurant and amazing food!
The terrace is a nice place to eat on a sunny day/evening and it has plenty of outdoor heaters for cooler days.
Will be back again soon!
Meal deal was £12.50 for pasta and a drink, I ordered a pork chop for an extra £3 and that is literally all I got!!. Waitress should have explained options better. Staff were friendly and there was a nice vibe early evening.
This was the first time "eating out" since last summer. Was not looking forward to eating outside, but as it turned out it was very warm.
The food was very tasty ( I had the ravioli) and was beautifully presented.
The service was a bit slow, but probably due to new staff .
The Tiramisu could have been more coffee flavoured, but that's probably my taste.
We booked in response to a board outside advertising a £30 with unlimited Prosecco. It was also advertised on the website. On arrival we were told that menu was no longer available less than a week after opening? We only went there for that menu! Food was good but service very poor had to ask several times for different items. Broccoli side arrived after we had finished our main course! Would not return or recommend
Our experience was mixed, we were a party of 6 and 4 of the table were not happy with their food, steak was tough, it was cold, didn't like the dressing with the steak etc. The other 2 meals were very good.
The cocktails were insipid at best and completely undrinkable.
The atmosphere good and the staff were very attentive, but there is obviously room for improvement.
I hope they manage to sort their service systems out soon as it will hopefully be a nice alternative to the chains around there. I think it was a matter of inexperience and lack of practice. Starters were nice. Pasta a bit basic but cooked ok. Didn’t get to find out about desserts as we were waiting so long we gave up. 🤞they sort it out soon.
Really enjoyed dinner with my husband. Attractive, simple menu. Steak cooked perfectly as I wanted it. He enjoyed his fish. We both enjoyed the meatballs we had as a starter. One quibble: the brandy he ordered had 3 large ice cubes in it! The waitress apologised but I think it should have been replaced, the ice had ruined the flavour. Definitely will go back, looking forward to the indoor area.
Excellent friendly restaurant with lovely atmosphere and great food.
Absolutely gorgeous meal at Luccios - the terrace area was well spread out and we had lots of room. The sunshine was beautiful and the heaters were very useful, although not required during our visit.
Food was delicious - we had the Spaghetti Carbonara and all loved it. Thank you.
The menu stated that a drink (soft drink, wine or beer) was complimentary with a main course. However , on leaving the premises having paid the bill, I discovered that I had been charged for the drinks , so nearly £10 more than it would have been. I did not pursue the matter - the last thing I want after having a meal out is to have to quibble about the bill, but I believe that I was overcharged, will not be returning, and would not recommend to anybody else.
Apart from cold plates everything was very good. Covid compliant,, comfortable seating on terrace, food was delicious and service excellent
There were no gluten free pasta dishes available, although usually on the menu. They did call me in advance to tell me. Tesco is less than a mile away, why couldn’t someone have just bought some GF pasta. Simple enough you would have thought. Two diners had carbonara which was luke warm. The other two had flat-iron steak and chips. The chips didn’t arrive. We reminded them and one portion arrived way before the other, so more than half of the steak had been eaten. Desserts were fine. Wine is expensive. We had the cheapest white at around £25. Overall OK, but won’t be rushing back.
Very nice brushed meal. Watched the sun go down but stayed warm under the heaters. Helped create a lovely evening with friends
Fantastic food, very friendly and attentive staff, extremely good value for money and the venue was excellent considering covid restrictions. Already recommended to several friends. We will definitely be viviting again.
The food was excellent but the service was disorganised and chaotic!
I asked three times for a bottle of Prosecco and water to be on the table and they just couldn’t do it!
We were. Charged for bottled water when we asked for tap but they took this off the bill
Everyone was very polite and friendly but it was disorganised and the left hand didn’t know what the right was doing!!
However I would return
Small family birthday lunch with 3 generations. Sat on the terrace where there is protective cover and heaters. Warm and comfortable. Lovely afternoon, food, service and ambience were lovely. Already booked for early evening meal with friends this week.
The service felt slightly rushed, starter arrive before drinks and when the wine arrived it was served in a water glass. Feel there should be more options for wine by the glass.
Our first visit to Luccios was in December 2020 and it was excellent in every way.
With that in mind we decided to book again for our first post lockdown meal with our son who had travelled from London....a big occasion!!
I booked ahead a table for 3 online to ensure we secured a table as everywhere so busy as lockdown eases! On arrival they were not prepared for us, no personal greeting or recognition that we had taken the trouble to book.
Our waitress was disinterested from the start and seemingly unhappy in her job.
First problem was my son was given a dirty fork, in fairness the waitress sorted straight away.
Order taken and starter brought out in good time. Our son’s starter was correct but waitress insisted (argued with us) that we had ordered 4 starters not 3 (not sure why we would do that) but the 2 remaining asparagus starters took ages to arrive even after we reminded the waitress we had been waiting 30 mins for the 2 starters, our son had finished his by the time they arrived. The waitress then unbelievably brought out the mains at the same time and couldn’t understand why we rejected it.
We did then speak to the Manager who apologised and all seemed to settle down.
Food was great, no complaints about quality of the food at all.
Waitress came to take pudding order (after another dirty fork episode) 1 tiramisu, 1 affogatto we also ordered a second bottle of wine and another apple juice for my husband.
Puddings served quite quickly but waited and waited for wine and apple juice and nothing came, no coffee offered. In the end I went into the restaurant, staff all sat at table eating and chatting...our waitress then pretended she was getting our drinks but we said it was too late and to have the bill. Manager offered a discount but still overcharged us and seemingly adjusted the bill with extra portions of stuff rather than show up the discount...all very weird and disappointing considering our first visit had been great!
Excellent menu & food quality
Outside table. Great drinks. Good food and service. Rebooked for next week!
