Italian
Lucciola, located down the street from Central Park, where the most fireflies can be found in the city: an homage to Bologna, its cuisine, its cinematic history...a city of dreams brought to life here in New York City.

The dishes, the atmosphere and the overall concept of Lucciola, was specifically inspired from the film Fest di Laurea, directed by Pupi Avati. We portray Avati's nostalgic and romantic mood of Bologna in our restaurant. From the decoration within the film, we were struck by how simple lights, illuminating a courtyard reminded us of fireflies, which brought to our name, Lucciola.

Our restaurant is dedicated to the lead actor in Avati's film: Nik Novecento, who embodied the values of Bologna from his passion, soul, courageousness and kindness.

Italian food experience for real authentic Italian recipes lovers! The atmosphere was so cosy and there was even a live jazz performance by an Italian artist. The best way to indulge in an amazing Cacio e Pepe!

Absolutely outstanding food and service. We had one of the best meals of our lives here. The food isn’t fussy, it’s authentic and lovely. Our server was super helpful in choosing a wine. And the table side tiramisu was charming and delicious. 5 stars!

If you want to taste real Italian food in NYC that best exemplifies this rich artistic culture then you need to experience Lucciola and it’s executive chef / owner Michele Casadei Massari’s sublime creations that will leave you wanting more every time. It happened to me once again this past weekend. The menu is exquisite from top to bottom! Black Truffle Burratta Bruschetta, Zucchini Parmigiano, Penne carciofi cream sauce with Burrata, and a with a perfect wine to choose from , your taste buds will succumb every time ! And there is not better feeling than the perfect Italian meal! Grazie Michele!

On a Freeze Monday my friend and I decided to go to one of my fav places, a 100% italian experience, a lovely gem in the UWS.
We shared a truffle bruschetta and an octopus and we had then a cacio e pepe for two. Our server suggested to pair the cacio e pepe with a spectacular Amarone from their new Lucciola Riserva wine menu. The new selection is simply amazing, exactly what any wine lover like me was waiting for. Great job! Staff always friendly and smily, definitely a plus. We ended sharing my fav dessert chocolate lava cake with pistacchio gelato... and a sip of Montenegro. Lucciola never disappoints!!! Thank you!

Four of us went to dinner on a Friday evening. The table was ready right away. Heat on too high but eventually cooled down. Too awhile for our server to acknowledge us. Friendly but a bit too handsy with one of my guests. No reasonably priced wines but decent selection from which to choose. My guests enjoyed their green gems salads. I had the octopus and it was very good and a generous portion. The hit app was the mushroom truffle flambé flatbread. Super excellent. Two guests shared the house special pasta for two served from a hollowed out cheese wheel. I had the spicy penne. Disappointing since pasta overcooked and sauce just average and tasted like it had sat around too long and got dried out. Server only medium attentive.

This place is a gem. The food was fantastic. The service was gracious, welcoming, comfortable, excellent. The space is charming. What my friend and I both noted, with delight, was that even though the restaurant was fairly crowded, the noise level was never too high. We could speak in a normal voice and be heard, which is more and more rare these days. Will absolutely return here.

This place is fun, the food is genuine and the wine are amazing and well presented and pairing works great with their special, we got an amazing 97WS Points Tignanello 2016. It’s definetely the best Italian restaurant in the area , possibly one of the few authentic in the area, owned and run by Italians from Bologna Italy! The Excutive Chef is a celebrity Chef from Bologna. Can’t wait to see how this gem will work that piano they got, seems some jazz is in the air, I’ll definetely be back and try next time the Tiramisù

Food is very very good here!! Lucciola is a great local trattoria with a true Italian vibe, the Executive Chef Michele Casadei Massari is Italian and quite famous, his pasta was al dente and the white truffle special delicious! Wines are great and the music vine is amazing, they have a piano, we were told that soon they’ll work out some sort of jazz special night, quite interesting for a local trattoria, we had the tiramisù, they made it at the table, great idea!

White truffle season is ON at Lucciola, what an amazing experience: as soon as you enter the restaurant door you are fully embraced by the perfumes of the delicious dishes and this time the predominant essence is WHITE TRUFFLE. Can't stress enough the deliciousness of their Cacio e Pepe with fresh shaved white truffle. I enjoyed with my friend my pasta with a great Negroni, the new bartender is top-notch! Great addition Lucciola! Also they started playing an amazing jazz music and it makes the ambience even more cozy and welcoming. Definitely in my top 3.
ps. I finished my dinner with the lava cake and salted caramel gelato... I'll just say...make sure to order it next time you visit. ;) 10 stars! :)

The food here is very good. The zucchini parm app, an octopus pasta special and the classic bolognese were all great. Two quibbles: while everyone is absolutely lovely, the service is a bit flaky - our server seemed experienced but she was also increasingly harried maybe by the somewhat clueless bus-people . Second, the wine and cocktails were overly pricey (entrees well priced). Overall lovely food, lovely people, warm room, but need to pull the service experience together a little!

After driving by many times I finally went to try this small cute Italian rest. I reserved on OT with a special time slot which was supposed to be for 2 free orders of bruschetta. My server didn’t c it on her computer so asked if I can just accept 1 order. Then when I went to order my wife who has celiacs a GF pizza which is why I came to the rest, they said they were out of GF pizza. Overall the food was not overwhelming. Some things were good, and some down right bad. They were very nice in taking a pasta off the check that was not good, and gave my daughter 2 free deserts for her birthday. However The gelato tasted like it had been in the freezer for years. Tough to write a bad review for a nice rest with very nice servers, but they need to get there act together. When they do, I’d love to come back

Ok, I have to confess, Lucciola is starting to be my second home.
It is on my way home, tempting and easy way to treat myself after a long stressful day.
I love the charming decor and the efficient service. The food is impeccable and I tried this time the Amatriciana - this is one of the few italian restaurants that prepares it following the original receipt: NO ONIONS! Bravi! I Simply Loved it.. and make sure to try the Lucciola Old Fashion!
