Lucciola, located down the street from Central Park, where the most fireflies can be found in the city: an homage to Bologna, its cuisine, its cinematic history...a city of dreams brought to life here in New York City.

The dishes, the atmosphere and the overall concept of Lucciola, was specifically inspired from the film Fest di Laurea, directed by Pupi Avati. We portray Avati's nostalgic and romantic mood of Bologna in our restaurant. From the decoration within the film, we were struck by how simple lights, illuminating a courtyard reminded us of fireflies, which brought to our name, Lucciola.

Our restaurant is dedicated to the lead actor in Avati's film: Nik Novecento, who embodied the values of Bologna from his passion, soul, courageousness and kindness.

After driving by many times I finally went to try this small cute Italian rest. I reserved on OT with a special time slot which was supposed to be for 2 free orders of bruschetta. My server didn’t c it on her computer so asked if I can just accept 1 order. Then when I went to order my wife who has celiacs a GF pizza which is why I came to the rest, they said they were out of GF pizza. Overall the food was not overwhelming. Some things were good, and some down right bad. They were very nice in taking a pasta off the check that was not good, and gave my daughter 2 free deserts for her birthday. However The gelato tasted like it had been in the freezer for years. Tough to write a bad review for a nice rest with very nice servers, but they need to get there act together. When they do, I’d love to come back

Never disappointed!
They have a new fall menu with great wines and cocktails!
I had a glass of Nebbiolo with a black truffle bruscetta and a old fashion with a local bourbon called Kings County, so smooth!
Staff was very friendly and welcoming
Love this gem in the neighborhood!

What a lovely place! We were out celebrating a birthday and wound up here at the last minute, as our previous reservation was not handled properly. They could not have been more welcoming and the food was wonderful. It was a birthday celebration and they made it very special. I would recommend to everyone.

Ok, I have to confess, Lucciola is starting to be my second home.
It is on my way home, tempting and easy way to treat myself after a long stressful day.
I love the charming decor and the efficient service. The food is impeccable and I tried this time the Amatriciana - this is one of the few italian restaurants that prepares it following the original receipt: NO ONIONS! Bravi! I Simply Loved it.. and make sure to try the Lucciola Old Fashion!

I had booked the OpenTable reservation earlier in the day for 8:30pm. We arrive at 8:25pm and the hostess informs us that there was a problem in their system and were overbooked, but the wait shouldn’t be more than 10-15 minutes. We have to wait outside in the cold for a table to open up. Hostess and waitress are very polite and continue to check in on us. Finally at about 9pm we are seated.
My partner and I shared the burrata appetizer— very tasty, but they never cleared our dirty plate and it just sat between us until the main course arrived. I got the penne alla vodka and it was beyond delicious! My partner got the truffle ravioli and it was very rich and tasty.
Overall, the experience was totally great, I just wish that we had received a call earlier in the evening to let us know about the reservation problem. Or that maybe they had offered some kind of drink or dessert on the house to apologize for the wait...

Absolutely amazing pasta, best cacio pepe I ever had , served in the cacio cheese wheel at the table, so so tady and al denti! Waiters are fun and when gets crowd feels being during an Italian wedding dinner all smiling food and good mood, service was great and casual, we loved it especially since we got just back from Italy and food and ambience was 100% the same! Owners are Italian from Italy, we met the Executive Chef at our table, a true celebrity che fby any meaning, kind, fun and so passiknate he told us about Bolognese and rules about the tradition of this amazing sauce and why is so so difficult and time consuming to make! We’ll be back very soon for more! Grazi Lucciola!

There was a problem with my online reservation because the outdoor seating was closed so my indoor table wasn’t ready when we arrived. They were very gracious but we had to wait over 1/2 an hour to be seated. They gave us free bruschetta but we also spent more on drinks since we had such a long wait. Luckily the food was delicious.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Stumbled across this gem on Open Table & was NOT disappointed. Cutest place, authentic Italian, DELICIOUS FOOD! Our waiter (I sadly cannot remember his name!) was THE BEST waiter I think we have ever had. Attentive, passionate, and hilarious! We had the prosciutto & burrata and the Special - Cacio e Pepe with shaved truffles on top...TO DIE FOR! Cannot recommend enough. Will be back every single time we visit the city.

I was walking in the neighborhood and I saw this bright sign “Lucciola” and a cute outdoor court one block away. I decided to go and check it out. I found the cutest italian restaurant I’ve seen so far. The owners really put their personalities in the design of the place and the concept and inspiration behind it is really fascinating. I happened to know the artist that designed their logo and wallpaper, Marco Gallotta, paper-cut artist, another 100% true italian treasure!
I ordered a carbonara, my fav pasta - easy to mess up if you are not 100% or follow the original receipt - well, they didn’t disappoint and the portion are big! 😍 They bring focaccia and olive oil at the table meanwhile you wait... like they read my mind and made all my dreams become true!
I didn’t order a dessert, but I saw one of the staff making “live” and fresh a tiramisu at the table next to me and I know next time I’ll make sure to leave space for it! But I had an espresso, Filicori Zecchini. I’ll just say WOW! Finally a good coffee in town.
Definitely I’ll be back and I’ll bring with me my friends. A special thank you to Alberto (next time I’ll try your cocktails) and Michele! Italians do it better!

I love Lucciola! It is a little gem on the upper west side, with great food and wonderful wine list. Our server, Matteo, went above and beyond and I loved the cacio e Pepe made in the cheese wheel! Lovely presentation. The cauliflower side dish was also delicious. Charming atmosphere and attentive staff. Yummy bruschetta as well. A fun evening.

Lucciola is the authentic Italian restaurant everyone seeks in the city. Not just for the quality and the presentation of the dishes (traditional Italian recipes, some with a twist, like the “upgraded version” of cacio e pepe, enriched with truffle), but for the courtesy, kindness and attention of the staff and for the beautiful atmosfere.

The food and ambiance at Lucciola are simply lovely. Great for a nice meal with some wine and gelato. The firefly motif works well with their lighting choices, and it's especially nice for dining outside. The indoor restaurant space is on the small side, so reservations are definitely recommended.
