The dishes, the atmospher,e and the overall concept of Lucciola, was specifically inspired from the film Fest di Laurea, directed by Pupi Avati. We portray Avati's nostalgic and romantic mood of Bologna in our restaurant. From the decoration within the film, we were struck by how simple lights, illuminating a courtyard reminded us of fireflies, which brought to our name, Lucciola.
Our restaurant is dedicated to the lead actor in Avati's film: Nik Novecento, who embodied the values of Bologna from his passion, soul, courageousness and kindness.

Food was good
The new pizza is such a great addition with a glas of vino at the counter on my way home, feels being in Venice chattting having spritz
Perfect Trattoria, great new addition to the neighbor! Excellent food, kind waiters and a lot of charm and stories about Italy, very friend management, we got a couple of canolis on the house and a story about Bologna, the Chefs hometown! What a treat!
Food was great! Very good value.
Have been here for brunch and dinner several times. Each time I've been impressed with the quality and authenticity of the food. The pastas are so fresh and well made. I had the paccheri with artichoke and truffle with added black truffle -- what a delicious dish and loads of truffle shaved on it! The lasagna and the eggplant parmesan were also freshly made. And the spaghetti special with seafood baked in the oven was perfectly spiced. Definitely a keeper on the UWS.
Nice place with nice prices. Needs more staffing
I honestly wanted to give this restaurant a fair chance after reading so-so reviews. When we first got there, we were the only people, and truly the ambiance was wonderful and cozy. However, the food tasted sub-par. We ordered the Margherita pizza and cacio e Pepe. The cacio e Pepe was aesthetically appetizing to look at, but the flavor was off and unsatisfying. The pizza was blah. Then customers started to show up and they sat all 4 (2-top) tables by the window stacked on each other while the rest of the restaurant was vacant. (One couple was not happy about it and the staff still refused to seat them elsewhere.) I signed up for the free drink but wasn’t told it applies only to cocktails and not wine so I was initially charged but they removed it. I feel bad because you can tell the intention is there but it felt like they’re unwilling to take feedback/make things better.
what an amazing night, food was great, service was family style, warm like being home after a long day of work, ambience is super cozy and romantic, definetwly my new favorite trattoria where I coupd withwr sitting at the bar or at the table and feel home and in Italy!
The restaurant seemed to be very disorganized. We sat for about half an hour without getting any service. When We complained a waiter approached and said he didn't know about the free drink or the 50% off a bottle of wine because it was his first day working there. When the manager approached his said that only one person gets free drink that he did not know about discount for wine. Regardless we ordered a bottle of wine waited about 15 minutes at that time we all decided to leave. This is clearly a place that does false advertising Plus they're not prepared to provide you with any service
Amazing!!!!! Best pasta spot on the UWS!
food good. service not very good. needs to be cleaner. did not get free drinks as advertised
We had a reservation and were seated immediately - away from the front door which was wonderful because it was 8 degrees outside! Our waitress was a lovely, sweet young woman who was very knowledgeable and helpful about the menu and all of our questions. The restaurant is celebrating an anniversary so they are offering all a free drink or appetizer. We opted for the drinks and ordered the 'Ginlet'. The drinks were great as was the grilled salmon on a bed of polenta and roasted vegetables that I ordered. My dinner-mate ordered the gnocchi which was nice but a bit disappointing that it was not made fresh. I would definitely go back!
best Italian restaurant so far, same flvors like back in Italy
I was told by my date, who was waiting for me to arrive at our reserved table, that the establishment of Lucciola told my date to leave because they needed to sit other people. The staff made her leave while she was waiting for me, and she wound up waiting outside for me in the freezing cold. If this story is true by any means then the whole experience from Lucciola was unprofessional and rude to say the least.
The vodka sauce was crunchy; were these undercooked shallots? The appetizer (eggplant parmesan), the special entrée (fettucine with shaved truffles) and the house wines were very good.
Never got my 100 OpenTable points!
The food was good, my pasta was not hot but I was ok with it. My problem with the place was the poor exhaust system. I believe that they are a bit too pricey for someone to eat there and leave there smelling like they were working in the kitchen. I would probably eat there again in the summer, outdoor tables.
Classy, not to expensive, Italian vibe, a real gem run by Italians from Bologna
I had an amazing experience at Lucciola on Saturday evening! I literally fell in love with gnocchi with truffle!!! Delicious. My salad was super good, as well as bread and ‘focaccia’ with Italian olive oil. I was also tempted by a wonderful gelato. Delicious. I definitely look forward to be back! The chef was so nicely warming and the service is great. Authentic Italian food, nice environment, awesome menu: Lucciola is the not to be missed destination if you’re in the Upper West!!!
Gorgeous Italian food, friendly polite staff, complete and affordable wine list
Great dinner, amazing team, I’ll be back soon!
Amazing. Great food ( delicious), great value!
Hospitality at its best! The Chef owner is such an amazing host and his food reflects all his passion, knowledge and care, we got the best date ever, finally just in our neighbor, Lucciola you are so so welcome to the UWS and already our favorite! Impeccable authentic Italian food !
Finally a real Italian restaurant, not serving over cooked pasta and creamy sauces, not fried not greasy and Italian American, but the real thing! Got here several times always amazing and authentic like being in Italy but just down my corner, great friendly staff, not one of those large corporation restautant but actually a real small business and onwers serving their food, we need more of this kind of restaurants in NY, welcome Lucciola! I’ll be a regular, Grazie!
Honestly the food was great, since it is there one year anniversary we got a free appetizer. I honestly would have given 5 stars all throughout except at the end, we finished dessert, paid the bill, and about a minute and a half after getting the credit card receipt back. Someone came over and asked us to leave because they needed the table. no joke. I understand it is a small place. And I understand that it gets crowded, but that was just rude whereas prior to that the service was excellent.
Sorry, second visit. Still not wowed. The gnocchi in cream sauce and walnuts was way too heavy. The zucchini parmigiana was underseasoned and just too wet. My husband enjoyed the clams with linguine but not homemade pasta. There are so many other much better Italian restaurants now on the UWS I'm not sure where to start, but certainly Arco, Tartina, Regional, Osteria 106, La Piccola Cucina, and Gennaro are starts. Again, sorry. We really wanted to like it and I know many do. Also, our bill was crazy....charged a whole bottle instead of a glass...waitress never came to check on whether we wanted more wine or dessert!
This place has an authentic vibe and menu,
all the things you would like to have from a restaurant in Italy, but actually here in Nes York. The olive oil we got served was delicious as the focaccia bread that goes with it, all fresh and very well done. Fettuccini Bolognese stood out so much as the lasagna as well, we were told that chef and owners are all from Bologna and that explain why! Got offer tiramisù gelato at the end of the meal, what a kind treat and sign of courtesy!!
Excellent food and fine service if somewhat pricey. The one downside: a gratuity was added to the check for the 5 of us, 18%, which is OK but then the charge slip had the tip line blank. I find this practice not fair verging on . . .
Pasta, Salds, Tiramisu, all was great!
the menu has MANY typos in English, which is kind of sad -- they desperately need a proofreader.
The food was pretty good, well-served, delivered quickly. We enjoyed our meal but the hard surfaces make the room ECHO a lot, so it was quite loud.
I forgot my bag with my leftovers, had to go back, they were v nice about that.
Cool, romantic, great food, excellent wines
Loved this restaurant! It's a nice, small restaurant so it was helpful to have a reservation. The food was incredibly delicious, and the service was also excellent. We tried 4 past dishes, and all 4 of us couldn't stop talking about how good they were. Servings were nicely sized portions so we were able to share some desserts as well. This is definitely on my list to return to!!
Great service, very good pasta, complete yet affordable wine list
Amazing food. Amazing ambience. Amazing service.
Food was fantastic! However, prices were too high for what you get in terms of food and ambiance.
Consistently good. We celebrated Christmas Eve at Lucciola. Their appetizers were AMAZING, we had the Piazetta with truffles, and the vintage eggplant and the zucchini parmigiana. I ordered their Risotto Pescatora but everything else looked delicious. Reasonable prices for hearty portions, and friendly and attentive service, can't beat that! LOVED IT!!
fast casual service, great vibe, perfect setting for a full meal or a quick glass of wine, me and my partner got some wine and a lovely unexpected white truffle pizza at the bar
Great accomodating ownership, authentic Italian food, definetely my new Italian favorite, very good gelato
great food, homey and generous portions
What a cute place, nice they also serve pizza and very good amatriciana ! Great service overall, Italian trattoria vibe ! ciao belli!
