What a wonderful and special meal! Very creative and original dishes. Food was fresh, delicious, and unique. Chef is very talented. Beautiful presentation. Thoroughly enjoyed all five dishes we ordered. Our server, David, could not have been more professional, helpful, or gracious. We will absolutely be back and heartily recommend. So excited to find this gem!
Food and service was great. Overall experience was great
Food was delicious, Oyster quite expensive but yummy. Drinks good and good sized. Seats not comfortable, 2 people in our party complained their backs hurt.
The only thing is the chairs
Not very comfortable and too low
Food was excellent and the ambiance was just great. Will definitely go again
Great food and service; pricey and noisy Seating suboptimal but we definitely will come back
Great tasting food! Putting most of all their dishes on the grill with hickory, apple or cherry wood smoking underneath, creates a flavor explosion. A little pricey, if they reduced their prices by 15% to 20%, it would make this place more than just a special occasion restaurant.
Final family dinner before my brother and I went back to college. Amazing experience and fresh food as usual!
I am a big fan of Lucas. When my sister wanted to take us out for our anniversary, I identified it as one of my favorite restaurants, but not last night. First, the good parts. We had good service to start and having chosen to sit outside, it wasn’t noisy even on Friday night. The appetizers—raw oysters, chowder, and mussels were all delicious. That’s the end of the good part. They have a limited menu, but last night there were out of scallops (yup, out of scallops in ct on a Friday night. It wasn’t a huge loss for me because while I appreciate inventiveness, pomegranate and mango powder just didn’t appeal anyhow as the scallop preparation. They were also out of the only thing that really appealed to me to try on the menu—crab blossom tempura. I love cod, but the pan seared cod had mozzarella cheese....might have been wonderful but didn’t appeal to me. The special fish preparations were both poached or steamed. I would have loved a grilled or pan-seared choice. We settled on splitting an oyster po boy and an orecchiette with shrimp. The pasta was completely unremarkable and I assumed my sister must have gotten all the oysters in the po boy. I had two in a mammoth piece of unremarkable bread. She said she thought she only had two also, and they couldn’t have been out of oysters! The dessert seemed to never come, so they did kindly comp it without our asking, which I sincerely appreciate, but it was also bizarre. It was supposed to be poached peaches and vanilla ice cream. There was possibly a tablespoon of ice cream and it was covered in sour cream (not creme fraiche). Neither was mentioned in the oral description and the waitress who took over for the first pleasant one wasn’t really with it or else the kitchen did her a great disservice. Again it was nice that they comped the dessert, but there is nothing inexpensive about Lucas. The oyster are 2.75 a piece and the wine runs 12 to 15 a glass. I was embarrassed to have suggested it.
Love Lucas Local. Sarah, bartender is the best!
Please Lucas Local - you are almost perfect. I just really wish you would put cushions on your chairs. The food is great, the service was wonderful - but those chairs are just not helping the enjoyment of the food and service. This was my first time to your place. I have heard complaints of the chairs in the past - which has pretty much kept me and my husband away. We dine across the street all the time and I went this time with my daughter to your restaurant. Like I said - it was wonderful - but my tush was killing me from sitting on those hard chairs. Do yourself and your customers a HUGE favor - get seat cushions! Thanks D
Best oysters around! Staff are delightful, oyster shucker was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, oysters were ice cold, fresh as could be, sweet, succulent...ate 45!!!! Could eat 45 more! Friend had the Woody burger, and it was insanely good. Highly recommend. Great spot!
The oysters here are excellent ... nice variety, very well shucked (detached meat, no sand or shell), well served. The food in general is very good as is the service. Last visit the noise level was so high my ears hurt. Previous visit the air-conditioning was not working and it was extremely hot.
Fresh oysters and seafood. Outstanding and friendly service.
The meal was delicious, service and atmostphere was great! A little expensive, but overall we will go back!
The food was good. The drinks were not good.
Superb! The food was absolutely divine. What a creative menu that is delightful for any palate. We were visiting from NYC and stumbled upon Lucas. We will definitely be returning soon! Needless to say Lucas surpassed some of the top restaurants in NYC. The food, drinks, service and ambience is excellent! Highly recommended.
Thought this was going to be a special dining experience but turned out to be just ok. Not quite sure how the decor fits with an Oyster Bar. Tables were a bit small, unbalanced and and not terribly comfortable. Started with mussels which were very good. Both my wife and I had the risotto as our entree, hers with shrimp, mine with lobster. Portions of seafood were modest and price by comparison, expensive. Lobster was $36 and not much given. Wine selection is limited. Nothing bad about the place but not that special place we were looking for and the menu choices are limited.
Always a great experience.
Professional wait staff, Consistently good food
What can you ask for!
We, and all guests who have joined us, love the cozy feel and décor. The oysters are always excellent. The dishes are given a unique spin to them and are delicious. The staff is always so friendly. I have to give special thanks to our waiter and the kitchen on this visit due to over the top accommodations of two 6 year old grandchildren with multiple food allergies. The staff was wonderful. The food great. Our favorite place.
Celebrated parents anniversary and decided to try Lucas Local Oyster Bar. Food was fresh and well prepared, service was solid. Pricing was in line with quality. Definitely recommend.
We loved this place. The quality of the food was great, not always easy to do with seafood. Can't wait to return.
Love Lucas Local! Always friendly, attentive service, and fantastic food and cocktails!
will be returning to this restaurant! very creative dishes

Good food, great atmosphere, great service. Excellent find in the middle of Connecticut.
A huge Thank you to Vince and his entire staff for another great dining experience.
This was the third time I’ve taken friends to Lucas.
Always consistently great!
If you’re into oysters and seafood in general you’ll be in heaven.
We even tried the Hamburger entree .Another winner 👍
Awesome time. Loved every minute there. Only wish we lived closer being from Northern Westchester.
First time there. Did not disappoint. Christopher provided exceptional service. There was no rush to leave and we had a relaxing time and delicious seafood dinners. The grilled octopus appetizer was particularly good.
The food was very good. The only negative was that the chairs are uncomfortable there should be a cushion in the chairs. A comfortable chair would have made the experience more pleasurable.
Food was very good, as usual. Kitchen was a little slow this night, but that was fine and allowed us to enjoy our drinks. We all wish the menu had a few more options, especially fresh fish. The only fish item on the menu was cod.
Lively atmosphere and food was excellent!!
Without a doubt the best restaurant in town! We are always blown away , when we come to eat at Lucas Local. The meal, the service, the ambiance all 5 stars. Thank you!
Top notch from start to finish. Personable wait staff, excellent bartender amd the chefs are phenomenal.
Your establishment is absolutely wonderful.
Your fish is so fresh and cooked to perfection.
The oysters and clam bar is delicious!!
And the way they are served on the trays with ice is so nice
Waiter Chris was very personable and did a great job.
I would definitely be back and recommend this restaurant.
Mid-week early dinner for two was good for us first timers. Great atmosphere but you have to be picky as to where you would like to sit. Definitely not the tables right at the front entrance! We both had the R.I. Clam chowder, which was light and herby, but still really prefer N.E. Style clam chowder. The cod special was a bit weird with thin slices of green tomatoes (which added an interesting crunch to the dish), a thin somewhat bland broth of some type, and what appeared to be a yogurt topping....really strange. The fish was thick and of a good size as well as well prepared. One of us had a ‘po-boy” fried oyster sandwich. As expected, The oysters were fresh and cooked to perfection. The only issue was there were not enough of them (maybe 4 or 5 medium size). One serious problem was the over-salting of the French fries that came with the dish. Why do cooks insist on over-salting? What are they trying to hide? The service overall was good, if not a bit too aggressive at times (e.g., reaching over our dinner plates to remove partially consumed dishes without asking.). How about extending the diner the courtesy of asking whether one is finished with a particular dish first? Nevertheless, Lucas Local was interesting enough for us to give it another try in this seafood-starved town in Southern Connecticut. Its too bad we prefer our seafood fully cooked!
Quickly becoming one of our favorite go to's! Food is so fresh and great tasting. Service is great and the restaurant over all is very welcoming.
We are proud new New Englanders having relocated to Connecticut in January of this year. We will be vacationing in Maine, on Cape Cod and in Narragansett, RI this summer. We love the New England shore and hoped Lucas Local Oyster Bar would be a treat - my wife was helping me celebrate my 70th birthday.
We loved our evening with them! Their greeting was cordial, service was perfect and charming and the food was OUTSTANDING! We expect to frequent this friendly, casual establishment often!
We started with Pork-belly dulche de laiche that was life changing! What a symphony of delicious flavors! Fresh, briney oysters from Nova Scotia, a Po-Boy sandwich, perfectly dressed Caesars salad and a magnificent Arctic Char rounded out our meal which concluded with a magnificent vanilla ice cream and a flourless chocolate cake (HEAVEN AGAIN)!
What a sweet restaurant, service was very well done, excellent explanation on all ingredients in meals. I will be back for my anniversary dinner with my husband
Nice restaurant - well thought out menu - delicious food and great service
