I'm a local of Steamboat and had to bring my best friend here for a celebration! We were tucked in our own private corner so we were able to have great conversation. Excellent fried chicken, deviled eggs, and gumbo. Must recommend the pickle cocktail!

Lamb was a disappointment. Shredded with BBQ sauce. No way to tell it was lamb vs pork vs beef.

We loved Low when it first opened Great food, great service. But the last few time we have been have been disappointing. This evening was one of the worst dining experiences we have had without actually walking out!
We had a 7 o'clock reservation, arrived on time, and waited in the entry for at least five minutes before anyone showed any interest in seating us. After we were seated, we waited quite a while for a drink order to be taken. By 8 o'clock, we pointed out to the person who had seated us that we had been there an hour and we're still waiting for our entrées. The beet salad, ribs and Mac and cheese were just OK. Brussels sprouts were not as advertised...just ok. Not one pepper grinder in the restaurant.

I asked for the jambalaya on the spicy side. It came out so hot as to be inedible. Literally, we were told 2 different chefs spiced it without coordinating. Apparently no one tasted it and the dark red/ brown color wasn't a tip off. I eat 5 alarm, this was a 10. The replacement dish came out loaded with okra (which I hate!) It is a classic ingredient in gumbo, not jambalaya, and was not present in the 10 alarm version. It also was not listed on the menu ingredients. When I pointed this out to our server, she was rather snippy, telling me that it always comes with okra. No, jambalaya does not come with okra, gumbo does. By this time my husband had finished his dry ribs, so we passed on the 3rd attempt.

What annoyed me most was the indifferent service and the ATTITUDE when the kitchen had made not one mistake , but 2. No apology. Just an offer to try again. It was a very long disappointing evening.

On the bright side, I had a wonderful mezcal/grapefruit cocktail (which our server discouraged as in her experience people don't like mezcal). I'm so glad I didn't listen to her. They also carry St. Pauly NA beer which is my sober husband's favorite brand.

Bottom line....kudos to the bar, but we won't bother to go back.

We live in Steamboat part time. Low has become our favorite restaurant. We've introduced many friends and guests as they visit us in Steamboat and everyone raves! The food, the ambiance, the wait staff and the bar tenders are all friendly, professional, and appear to love what they do. All the components of a great dining experience. Nice work!

We Love Low Country and the new location is great! However, we nearly froze to death the other night. I sat over a vent, that I finally threw a napkin over and laid my silverware on top to stop the breeze. Waiter did not seem concerned

A cure for my craving. Although I was born and raised in Colorado, I lived in North and South Carolina for 12 years. There is nothing like Southern cuisine. It may not be the healthiest but it is absolutely delicious. Until I dined at Low Country Kitchen, I had not found a place to replicate these memories. It is a perfect combination of southern hospitality with delicious food.

The food was great, the place was fantastic - an old fabulously renovated house - just make sure you don't sit in Tim's section. He's the rudest waiter I've ever had. Arguing with me about the difference between deep fried and sauteed (he thinks they're the same... they're not Tim). He was so unpleasant. Borderline abnoxious. So yes, I recommend you try it because they make some serious Southern Fried Chicken and the shrimp and grits are to die for. But waiters with attitude just ruin the experience for me. Talk about someone who doesn't like their job. That's Tim.

The fried chicken was very good. The mashed potatoes, vegetables, and cole slaw were average. Don't reserve either table by the bar, as it was very, very, very noisy with constant traffic. The bartender was so noisy pounding and dropping things we nearly left before our food arrived. We arrived a few minutes early, were served quickly, but our waitress seemed to be pushing us to leave minutes after our food arrived. Several times I had to tell her I was not done with my half eaten food or she would have taken my plate. We were very glad to be out of there just 49 minutes after our reservation. We'll try KFC next time - the food will not be as good, but the atmosphere will be much better. We eat out in Steamboat 1-2 times per week all year, but Low Country will never be a consideration again.

Reservation honored, though kitchen got backed up for entrees. Food generally excellent as in years past. However, the menu describes the Jambalaya as mildly spicy when it was more accurately should be described as spicy. It was delicious but not good for persons unable to handle heat. Shrimp and grits were outstanding. Too many choices for one visit so we shall return.

Awesome food and atmosphere. Lively but no so loud you can't hear others at your table. Prices are reasonable relative to quality of food and portions. Excellent tasting unique food, e.g. the jambalaya has duck meat. The only thing that prevented it from being a perfect dinner was from the time we ordered to the time our entrees were tabled, it took one hour. Appetizers came quickly, waiter was friendly and apologized for the wait. The could have at least provided a complimentary dessert given the wait.
