Great People great atmosphere either inside or outside. Great food
Our experience at Lovina was exceptional! Not only was it adorable and beautiful from the outside, but the inside was so cozy and comfortable and also very clean and modern. This is a true neighborhood gem, with outstanding food, a great wine list, and exceptional service. We were in Calistoga on vacation, and we had reservations at restaurants in Yountville, but cancelled those one night to go to Lovina instead, and we could not have been happier with our choice. If I come back to Calistoga, Lovina will be a must! Thank you for an excellent and special dinner :)
Great food, friendly service, and a nice local wine list. Charming restaurant.
Thank you to all the staff at lovina a very memorable birthday evening so great we came the next morning for brunch!
The welcome was a bit muddled. We had reserved a long time in advance and were first offered a mediocre table by the kitchen entrance, but opted to wait for a better table. The wait was longish. The rest of the experience as fine, but a bit dampened by the welcome.
Brunch was amazing. I was not impressed with their Bloody Mary but their hot sauce was amazing. The food was great drinks not s
Just a disappointing evening overall. I had requested on my advance reservation for outdoor seating, but they sat us inside. I was really disappointed but didn’t want to make a big deal, although had I been told I couldn’t sit outside ahead of time, we would have booked elsewhere with outdoor seating. We were sat at possibly the smallest table I’ve ever sat at, right in a weird triangle between the front door, the bar, and the kitchen. People were zooming past and brushing my chair all evening. It was so unrelaxing, I couldn’t even have a good dinner conversation. The food was good, not spectacular, although beautifully plated. My curry had fried shrimp and tofu, which I guess is the way they make it, but I wish they had said it as I don’t eat fried food and didn’t expect a curry to have fried elements. Sure enough I was very sick later that evening. Looks like a nice restaurant, but we wouldn’t go back.
The service was extremely slow, and our waiter got my drink wrong twice, I didn’t correct after the second one.
Delicious menu and wine list. Beautiful day to spend in Calistoga.
Fantastic service and food, best grilled cheese sandwich ever paired with a celery soup which was so lovely. Everyone’s food was excellent!
The food was outstanding, service was great very attentive staff. Highly recommend them.
Great place! Excellent simple food and great service.
The food was good and generious portions.
We have eaten at many amazing restaurants in Napa and Sonoma. Lovina was one of the best meals we had. The food was superb - flavorful, fresh, plentiful and without any pretense.
We were big fans of Calistoga Kitchen and so we were very pleased to find Lovina is superb! We have been twice and enjoyed our meal tremendously both times. The bolognese is absurdly delicious. The desserts are dreamy. go go go!
Enjoyed the the total experience, the food was excellent, we split everything, we are both long time chefs on a night away, thanks for the evening. The menu was sold with creative edges...
I reserved a table for 5 friends on a Friday night. The service at Lovina was excellent, and the food was fantastic. We ordered several dishes and shared them all, including the duck confit spinach salad, mushroom risotto, tiger prawn tofu curry, and the New York strip. I would definately return to Lovina on my next trip to Calistoga.
Real good food, and a nice atmosphere. But service was terribly slow and not very good otherwise.
I thought the wines by the glass selection was knockout. The food was decent but I couldn't understand the menu. It is all over the place and scattterbrained. For example, for mains you can try Thai Curry or Tikka Masala. There was also kimchi bread on the menu, alongside a mushroom-cheese fondue, alongside a pasta bolognese, alongside chicken and dumplings soup. It's a bit too United Nations for us. We tried the pork chop and the steak, which would great although the fat had not rendered on the steak or the pork chop, so we had a lot of white fat to eat around. The hassleback potato with the steak was excellent. Our dessert was disappointing. The brownie was rock hard and that is not an exaggeration. It could not be cut with a knife and was inedible. I want to love Lovina, so I'll probably try it again a few months to see if they have worked out some of these kinks. Their staff is great and I think they place is very special overall.
We loved the decor and the charming location of Lovina. We were not that hungary when we arrived, and I guess that was a good thing. I felt the entrees were very small for the price. We each had a glass of wine. For a small serving of pasta, a small piece of fish and 2 glasses of wine the tab was $105.00 when we added in the tip.
I was underwhelmed. Maybe come back and sit outside in the summer and order a house special, or maybe not...
Tried the new restaurant in Calistoga. Went on a Monday night. Rey limited entree menu. There was only one waitress working so good think it was not too busy. Hope they can stay busy and spandex menu options a little. Food we had was good so there is definitely potential.
Great food! Will be back often. Especially loved the Bolognese and the Mushroom Risotto.
Food was excellent, and server was very charming. But service was very spotty and we waited long periods between our courses, while the table behind us received their meals promptly. Ordered courses after we did, but received them 10 to 15 minutes before we did.
Little gems salad and branzino were excellent. Lovina is off to a great start
Wonderful spot with charming street-side outdoor garden dining. Delicious/creative/healthful food and exceptional service (thank you, Isabela)! Great for people watching as they stroll by on the corner sidewalk or drive by. (Bridge construction across the street didn't impact us at all, though it is making for a little heavier traffic right now.) Beautiful indoor setting, too. Nice to have such a sweet place in Calistoga!
Unfortunately, despite the restaurant not being full, service was poorly coordinated and slow. Individual servers were well meaning but it felt like they just didn't assign anyone to our table, so each step of the meal we had to flag someone down or wait for a long time. Food was reasonable, but wouldn't go back at this price point and quality level.
Locally owned. Great original menu- from start to dessert.
Serious, thoughtful menu with excellent service--top notch.
Party of five, we had a wonderful evening. Great food and service !
It was their second day open. Servers a bit too anxious overfunctioning. Understandable.
Was reconnecting with old friend and interrupted a lot. None the less enjoyed the experience.
Nice ambience and food and pleasant crew.
We wanted to try the new menu after Lovina opened with new owners. The first thing we noticed right away was the noise reduction panels on the ceiling. Makes a big difference. Everything we ordered was outstanding! Unique and delicious flavor combinations. We will definitely be back and highly recommend Lovina.
This restaurant has amazing service and wonderful food. The menu seems to be seasonal. We love eating in the garden.
We had brunch items - French toast, Breakfast burrito, Farmer's Market plate - all were fantastic. Quality fresh food, well prepared and presented in a pleasing manner. Service was attentive and friendly. We'll definitely be back when we're in the area.
Another favorite place to eat in Calistoga. Unusual combinations of food and everything is perfectly prepared. The Egg Nog Bread Pudding was wonderful. Definitely worth a return visit!
Amazing in every way. Fresh, delectable dishes, amazing atmosphere, awesome service! Absolutely loved!
Amazing food. Completely delicious. I'd love to go back there in the mear future.
Great food and service
This restaurant was recommended by a local. We had no expectations. Wow! The food was phenomenal! I had the braised short rib (cooked to perfection), my husband had the seafood bronzini (also cooked to perfection, one side of the fish was crispy, it was scrumptious!) The flavors were delicious, like modern comfort food (if there is such a thing), but fit for foodies. Do not pass on the focaccia bread to start and try the avocado salad. We finished with the sunday, which was to die for! Atmosphere and service were top-notch.
This is a pleasant comfortable place to drop in anytime. There is nothing pretentious, no putting on airs. The outdoor garden is lovely when the weather allows. The food is high quality at all times with just a twist - like Model Bakery English muffins for the breakfast sandwich. I consider it one of my neighorhood places.
Thanksgiving Dinner...excellent! What a great surprise!
