Went on a Wed evening so was not crowded at all. Lovely gem of a place - innovative and tasty cocktails. food was fine - just prolly overpriced for what you getting.
Seafood choices and bar menu were good. Service excellent, overall good dining experience.
Had a birthday dinner here and everything was exceptional! Service is wonderful, wine even better and food is amazing! Recommend for everyone :)
Bring your own champagne if it’s a special
Occasion as they don’t have any on the menu...
Service was excellent. Every course was way too salty for the 3 of us. Many people love salty food, but we don’t.
I'm sorry your food was salty. We strive to season things perfectly, but everyone has different tastes. I encourage you to engage in a dialogue with your server; they're here to help you have a great experience. If you had given us the opportunity, we would of course have been happy to gently season the rest of your meal. I must also point out Ruppert-Leroy's “Les Cognaux” Champagne is the first wine on our bottle list, followed by many other sparkling options. Thank you for the opportunity.
Everything was okay until the entree
Duck breast served well done. Not a hint of pink. Chewy and looked like, as my date said, pot roast. Not very apologetic server. Will never go there again.
Disappointing food and service was very slow. The natural wine was good and the place is cute. Only dishes we thought was good was the chicken. Would not go back.
Delightfully surprised by the selection, preparation and service. Most impressive wine list. Very knowledgeable server. Great addition to the neighborhood and city. Thank you.
A stunner, an all time date spot - food, wine, ambiance. Amazing
The bar is not a comfortable eating space. Seated with my knees mashed against the bar, I had to lean forward at 60 degrees to get my mouth over my plate. But the food was great!
Probably the Best Cocktails I have had this year and I have been to bars
in NYC, Chicago, Detroit, LA, Amsterdam, London and Split this year!!!
Absolute class and refinement. We come here at least once a year, if not more, for special occasions.
Birthday celebration — they provided a complimentary dessert. Thank you!
Food was tasty and sophisticated. Salads with watermelon and watercress were fantastic. Oasis buco was delicious.
From the moment we entered L’Oursin, the team were all about making sure we had a great time and well looked after. We were there especially to enjoy the innovative fresh food with carefully selected natural wines and were so delighted we went back the next night.
Great service, food innovative and quite exceptional, bold menu, executed appropriately.
real interesting and yummy dishes. cocktails were super fun to read and drink. highly recommended.
Had such a lovely meal could so clearly see how much care went into each dish! I had a note in the cucumber salad, to which you can obviously take as you wish, but it was pretty salty, the actual granulas of salt though nice intexture were kinda overwhelming in taste. Over all loved the lingcod it was beautiful and buttery and had such a beautiful contrast to the sweet and tangy cherry toms! Also appreciated the suggestions on wine, felt as though I got exactly what I wanted, even though I gave very vague ideas to my waiter. Beautiful restaurant and ambiance.
A great meal with excellent service
Amazing and fresh PNW products prepared in unique Franco-inspired dishes and a great wine list to accompany it all. We will certainly return.
Brilliant food and wine. Extraordinary service. A true gem.
We just found our favorite new Seattle restaurant!
This was another superb dining experience at L'Oursin, which I highly recommend.
Six of us had dinner on a hot Sunday evening. The dining room was lovely, airy, charming and very comfortable. Most of the items on the menu lend themselves well to sharing so we had everything served family-style. Everything we ate was fresh, well-prepared and delicious. The server was helpful with wine selection (an incredible, crisp rosé) as well as describing anything on the menu that wasn't clear. The noise level was pleasant--enough to feel festive, but allowed for easy conversation amongst all of us without straining. Dessert was delicious, though pretty consistently very sweet--it might be nice to have more of a range. The apple chestnut cider we had with dessert was wonderful. Overall excellent experience and highly recommend this restaurant.
Every meal I’ve had here was delightful. It was a hot muggy night when I met a friend at L’oursin. It was wonderful and breezy inside. I had the scallops with mushrooms (served cold) and the potatoes leek soup. My friend had tuna and the cabbage salad with crab. It was perfect. The cabbage salad was so good I almost ordered one to go to e joy for lunch the next day. And I don’t even like cabbage. Great spot and easier to get street parking than most Capitol Hill restaurants. Love L’oursin —just remember “our sin” if you don’t know your french.
Great choice for shared small plates. Excellent cocktails and a unique wine list, focused on biodynamic wines. Main plates are small, so beware.
We had a great evening. Our server, Brianna was especially outstanding and very professional. She answered our questions and gave us great recommendations. Timed our food well even during a very busy night. The only disappointment was the "steak" entree. I think it must have been a top round or bottom round cut of meat, cooked medium rare as requested but a large fat cap and a very chewy piece of meat. I suggest they upgrade this cut of meat. Even with the steak, we had a great evening and will return especially due to the overall quality of the food and the outstanding service.
We truly had a great time. The food was delightful, the drinks were spectacular and I loooooved the music. Margot Guryan, Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood set the perfect mood for this funky but classy spot. I can't wait to come back!
Wonderful in every way!
Charming atmosphere, great service and fabulous food! What could be better?
Brought a friend here for a birthday dinner on the recommendation of pals and it didn’t disappoint. A relief to be in an understated calm room with plenty of interest but no pretension. Our server was funny, efficient and knowledgeable and the food was so well done.
We suspected some sous vide preparations, which few restaurants have the time for anymore, and we were right because the beef and halibut were both delicious and perfectly done.
Lots of local produce and beautiful presentations. Can’t wait to return!!
Very good food, service and choices - it was a lovely date night overall
Overall outstanding. We had stopped for a drink a week ago and bar service was excellent. Came back for dinner and had greens salad, halibut, and black cod. Salad was great, local berries were a nice touch. Fish was perfect. Bottle of wine was very fairly priced. House Mont Blanc cocktail was outstanding. Would very much recommend and we will be back. Thank you
An excellent bistro/cafe....relaxed, yet sophisticated food. The service was outstanding....friendly, informative and professional. The presentation of the individual dishes was outstanding. The wine offerings tend toward 'natural' but the choices are excellent. The only negative....I could not convince them to relocate from Capitol Hill in Seattle to my neighborhood in New York City.
Every time I go back they surprise me with new flavors expertly paired with local seafood and produce. They also had a hopped white wine from Portland that blew my mind.
Creative menu that changes on the regular. Incredible selection of natural wines. Great service, well executed dishes, and french casual ambiance.
Love the beverage program here so much and can always rely on something excellent to drink whether it is wine, beer or cocktails. Food menu is seafood-heavy with french influence in preparation and choice of ingredients which at times is a bit out of my comfort zone though always well-prepared and at a good value for the quality and portion size.
Nice ambiance, good service. Food is just good, not great. The plate of bread and butter is $6, but the amount of butter is small. So when we asked for more butter our waitress said "of course" - and then when the bill arrived we had been charged $3 for the butter (about the size of 4 "pats"). That was ridiculous - we were $9 in just with bread and butter! The half chicken is not an actual half chicken and was a little over cooked, but the sauce and the whipped potatoes were delicious. The mushrooms were vinegary which was jarring against the simple flavoring of the sauce. The fried oysters and housemade tartar were great. TINY glasses of wine and very small selection by the glass. Automatic 20% tip added.
Will most likely give it another try as that was our first visit.
I like the staff, good knowledge of the local natural wine producer, tasted some excellent wines 👌🏻
We liked the decor, and the menu looked promising. Unfortunately, the portions were small, far less than promised when we asked, and the cooking uneven. Will not return.
The food was average to a little boring.
Server didn't know the menu or the food.
Felt like Americanized French food. Had the tasting menus and found them to be repetitive in flavors.
Both my wife and I were sick after.
On top if it the meal was $420 for three.
