Loukinens' on 4th
If I could give Loukinen's more than 5 stars I would. Everything from the service to the food was outstanding. It was worth every penny we spent!
PHENOMENAL !!!!! It is an upscale restaurant so be prepared to open you wallet but it is well worth it. Highly recommended
Amazing staff and service! The food is always a step above and delicious.
My wife and I decided to eat here for Valentines Day. This was our first visit and we love to try new restaurants. The interior was very nice and we were seated and waited on immediately. We ordered the calamari for our appetizer. It was somewhat soggy and very sweet due to the amount of sauce on the plate. The portion size was good. We both ordered Caesar salads and we liked the presentation on the plate. Some of the bites were gritty, maybe dirt?, but it was a very good salad. The bread bowl was also a hit, very nice selection of rolls and flatbreads. Our entrees were the filet with au gratin potatoes and my wife ordered the crab and bacon crusted prime strip. First the filet, it was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth, as did the potatoes. Very good meal. We had an issue with the crusted strip. My wife told the waiter she doesn’t care for red peppers in reference to her potatoes choice yet he failed to mention the crust also has red and green peppers. And I wouldn’t call it a crust, it was not “crispy” as if under a broiler, it was soggy and mushy and pushed off the steak and left to the edge of plate. When we mentioned this to the waiter he paused and remained silent and then turned and walked away without any reply. The steak itself was very good, as were the leek mashed potatoes. All in all, this place was good. A couple small adjustments and maybe a more descriptive menu and it would have been better.
Nice experience. Love the low lighting in the dining room. Appetizers are great! French onion soup is wonderful. Will definitely return. Scallops were tender and tasty. Bread basket was a nice added accompaniment.
From the moment we walked in, the service was incredible! From the lounge bartender, to the hostess! The service staff at our table was like no other. It was like they knew what we were thinking before we asked for it. Food was incredible as well!! The cauliflower appetizer is like nothing I’ve ever had before. We had the chef special w a beef tenderloin cooked perfectly and lobster veggie medley on top. It was perfect! Thank u so much for a great evening!!!
Can't imagine why there is not more "Buzz" about this place! We were greeted warmly. Our server, Michael, was both informed and exuberant about their fare; obviously wanted us to hold his chef in as high regard as he did! We do now.
My wife started with Three Cheese French Onion Soup. Then The Berkshire Thick Cut Pork Chop with Herbed Au Jus and a Smoked Gouda Au Gratin side. I began with Chili Lime Crisp Calamari (now ranks as my Best-in-Town), and a Chef's daily special that was essentially a chateaubriand for one served on an assorted quash vegetable medley atop a bed of Roasted Pepper Mashed Potatoes. The medallions of tenderloin were topped with Lobster flakes, a cream sauce and sprinkled with micro greens.
All beautifully presented, serving paced well without rush, and a treat to eat. We both cleaned our plates.
Awesome! Everything was perfect!
As out of town visitors we were glad to have had the experience.
My girlfriend and I had a great Valentine's dinner there recently. The food, atmosphere and service were all 5 stars for sure. The price was VERY steep however, so it's not for everyone.
Service & food were both great. A little pricier than expected but we were there for Valentine's Dinner So We anticipated a hike in the prices from the regular menu. While the price could have been a little less, overall we had a fantastic time & our waiter did an outstanding job as did the Chef whose culinary skills were definitely on point! Our experience was a great one & We will be returning in the future.
The meal was the best meal that my wife and I have ever had in Springfield. Food was amazing.
The Best Restaurant in Springfield! The food is outstanding and the staff is amazing.
My boyfriend and I dined here as a early Valentine Day celebration. We both had been here with friends for lunch a couple of times but never together, or for dinner at all. I can speak for the both of us in saying that we were very impressed and will be dining here again for lunch and/or dinner. Alex was our waiter and he by far was the best waiter that I have ever had. Very funny, attentive, and knowledgeable in what we ordered or had questions about. Shannon was the manager on duty that night and she too was very kind. This restaurant is a added and much needed gem to not only downtown Springfield but to the city of Springfield as a whole.
Loukinens' is arguably the best restaurant in Springfield right now. The food is imaginative and flawlessly prepared; the service polite and discrete; and the room tastefully decorated and relatively quiet, with modern jazz playing in the background. The owners clearly know how to run an upscale operation.
I recently ate at Loukinen's on 4th for an early birthday dinner with family. I would describe our satisfaction with the meal as mixed. One of our party had the lamb and felt it was excellent. Two of us had the filet and had very different experiences. One person felt their filet was excellent, the best they'd had. I would describe my filet as somewhat overcooked (medium, rather than the medium rare I ordered) and was largely bland. The size and cut of the meat were great, but the flavor was average, at best. We also had mixed experiences with the sides, the gouda au gratin potatoes were superb, while the asparagus was overcooked and lacking any flavor. The desserts were an absolute highlight, blood orange crème brulee and a specialty white cake, I cannot recall the name. We received excellent, attentive service. Overall, I would recommend Loukinen's. Given the price of the filet and vegetable side, I would have liked for the steak to be prepared as ordered and with better flavor. This would also be true for the asparagus side.
Greet food and excellent service! One of the best places tho eat in Springfield!
We love the atmosphere and excellent service. The food is always presented nicely and is outstanding. This is one of our favorite Springfield restaurants. Chef came to our table to make sure we were happy...nice touch. The Chocolate Cake and Decaf Cappuccino were a totally decadent end to a wonderful meal.
Our waiter was outstanding and recommended things we liked. The meal and wine was superb! The atmosphere is great and the neighborhood is too! Everyone is friendly and courteous.
We went to Loukinen's on 4th because we were in Springfield on a business trip. The food was excellent, the staff was fantastic, and the atmosphere spectacular. Will definitely return when in the area again.
Loukinen's is a great place for a business lunch. It's quiet enough for a great conversation when privacy is not needed. You make your guests feel like they are in a Chicago five star restaurant with downstate prices...wonderful!
Lunch for a sparse salad and a cup of tea was $20 with tip. The salad I ordered contained an ingredient that I am allergic to, so I asked if they could substitute more of another protein since they were removing that part of the salad. Literally, I got about a cup of arugula on top of some chopped beets, with eight dime-sized goat cheese croutons. The item was grossly overpriced, value was marginal. Then, I asked for hot tea (very cold day) and the server wasn't sure if they had any tea bags. He came back to the table with a tea box, totally dishoveled with mostly Earl Gray and breakfast tea varieties. (I was there for lunch.) I'm not sure about going back.
It was absolutely wonderful! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a fabulous fine dining experience.
Great cauliflower appetizer. Seafood special was cooked perfectly and was delicious. We had drinks beforehand, so can't comment on alcohol, and we had birthday cake at home later, so can't comment on their desserts either. All four of us were very happy with our meals!
Spectacular! Recommend for special occasions
Threw a surprise 30th for a dear friend. Laurie, the GM/owner was superb. She arranged the best table in the house for us. Invited us to arrive early to decorate & get ready. And, she continued to check in on our table throughout the evening. Waitstaff excellent & attentive. Five stars for service. They couldn't have been more accomodating. We lacked for nothing ALL night.
This is a gem in Springfield. Menu is great and the service was attentive.
We had an excellent experience. We would definitely go back and we highly recommend it to our friends. Loved the atmosphere. Food was excellent. Sea scallops were delicious
My wife, daughter and grandson went to Loukinens' for dinner on New Year's Eve. My wife and I had dined there before but it was new for my daughter and grandson. It was a very nice evening for all of us. As always, both the food and service were excellent. We especially appreciated the efforts of the owner to seat us quickly rather than have us wait. This is quickly becoming one of the favorite restaurants in Springfield and we always recommend it to our friends. Keep up the great work.
Really enjoy coming here for special meals. Dinner is always excellent and even lunch is a very lovely affair. You can't go wrong coming here and the owners are lovely people that take a lot of pride in their restaurant.
We area very similar restaurant two nights before and the service, food and overall dinner was great. Tonight was a disappointment. Our waitress didn't tell us about the $5 drink special for the night, everyone around us received a bread basket, not once did our waitress ask us if we wanted one. The food was good but not great. The chef and head waiter stopped by everyone's table but ours. No we weren't dressed as hobos and didn't stink. We were dressy casual as everyone else. This won't be a restaurant we'll be returning. For the price I will go back to vele.
New Years Eve
I’ve dined here many times. It was a first visit for my friend on NYE.
She thoroughly enjoyed and will return.
Delicious food with excellent service. Chef comes to your table to check the quality of your experience.
Exceptional all-around food and service.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Very good. Food and wine both tasty. Was a bit noisy at times.
We went for the first time on December 21st. It was a far more pleasurable experience than we had at another recently opened restaurant. The staff is excellent. The food is delicious. The wine list is great. We will be back. There was also an incredible gingerbread house as we entered the restaurant.
Food and service was fantastic! Manager and Chef both asked how our food was and were both very nice, professional and friendly. Will be back soon!
Food was prepared with care. All of the flavors really hit the mark.
The watermelon rind unsweetened tea was a very pleasant surprise.
Only negative was that the French Onion soup could have been warmer.
The cheese on top was broiled to perfection, but underneath the soup was only luke warm.
We went for our anniversary and walked away very disappointed. Our entrees (short rib and pork chop) were quite bland. The sides (Mac and cheese and brussel sprouts) were also bland. The Mac and cheese smelled bad and the sprouts were mushy as if they were boiled or frozen ahead of time. We only had a few bites of both sides and couldn’t eat anymore. The bread was quite stiff as if it had been microwaved to heat it up. While they gave us a free dessert due to our disappointment in the short rib, we will not be returning. We had high expectations due to other positive reviews and the nice atmosphere.
Always an excellent dining experience! As busy parents, Louikinen’s on 4th is one of our go-to places for date nights to reconnect. The food is outstanding: calamari is the best in town 👍
