It was nice. Took my honey there for his birthday. Food was really good - cauliflower appetizer was outstanding., The chef came to our table to speak to us - nice touch. Floor to ceiling windows gave us a nice view of the governor's mansion. Ambiance was adequate- would have been better if a table by the window was available. Pricing is what you'd expect for an upscale experience. A retun visit is probable.

A fantastic dining experience! Best place in Springfield that I’ve ever been to. The food was beautifully prepared and presented. The service was perfect, and excellent and reasonably priced wines. It’s pretty much worth the drive from Chicago to Springfield just for dinner!

This is our fourth visit to Loukinens' and, as always, the ambience and service was first rate. My wife and I shared the Manchurian cauliflower appetizer and the Raspberry Champagne Salad; both were delicious. She ordered a steak done medium well and to the Chef's credit, it was precisely that and the herbed sauce was the perfect complement (and yes, I did try a bite). My own meal, the evening's special was a slight disappointment, but in all fairness, there was a slight communication problem between myself and the server as to the degree of doneness I desired. As a result the pork had to make a second trip to the kitchen and, no matter how skilled the chef is, twice cooking does not improve meat and while it came back done to the right degree, it was a little tough. But, since my communication was part of the problem, this will not deter us from visiting again in the future and I hope it will not deter others as this is one of the town's better dining experiences.

Wonderful dinner! The cauliflower appetizer is a must have! Great, friendly staff. Our waitress was amazing. The ambience is a bit noisy and casual dress / jeans were the norm. Great place ...would recommend

Love this place! The food is amazing, everything is good and prepared so beautifully! Especially loved the cauliflower appetizer I. The sweet spicy chili sauce and the gourmet grilled cheese and fries are consistently great. Haven’t tried dinner yet but it looks even better than lunch. Service is also great and the view is beautiful looking out at the governors mansion. I love this place. You can’t go wrong

We chose Loukinen’s for a working lunch. They seated us at the “Governor’s Table”, a little out of the hubbub of the dining room but still a nice view of the Governor’s Mansion across the street. The food was excellent and the wait staff attentive. The cauliflower appetizer was delicious; salads were fresh and combined some unique ingredients in a surprising and delightful way. I highly recommend Loukinen’s for any occasion.

I wanted to take my friend out to a nice place. Our friends recommended this place! It was very nice, but hard to remain quiet. It felt I had to literally whisper to make sure I wasn’t interrupting anyone. Wasn’t that easy. The food was great. It was little pricey but very worth it. Only thing I would change is I wish people would have been little louder than they were. Didn’t look like people were talking barley, but service was very nice. Angie our waitress was very pleasant but absent to us. I felt like she wasn’t too happy to wait on us. She didn’t come around very often and only check on us once. We still had great experience though. Definitely recommend this place for their food!

Friday night date with my wife. We were seated right away and greeted by our waiter. My wife had a blood red orange cosmo that she loved. Nice wine selections, but limited. The duck breast with blackberry sautéed spinach with sweet potato hash was creatively presented, cooked perfectly and delicious. The lobster bisque and shrimp and crab appetizer were also excellent. The ambience is modern and quite comfortable. All in all a place we will return.

My wife and I decided to eat here for Valentines Day. This was our first visit and we love to try new restaurants. The interior was very nice and we were seated and waited on immediately. We ordered the calamari for our appetizer. It was somewhat soggy and very sweet due to the amount of sauce on the plate. The portion size was good. We both ordered Caesar salads and we liked the presentation on the plate. Some of the bites were gritty, maybe dirt?, but it was a very good salad. The bread bowl was also a hit, very nice selection of rolls and flatbreads. Our entrees were the filet with au gratin potatoes and my wife ordered the crab and bacon crusted prime strip. First the filet, it was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth, as did the potatoes. Very good meal. We had an issue with the crusted strip. My wife told the waiter she doesn’t care for red peppers in reference to her potatoes choice yet he failed to mention the crust also has red and green peppers. And I wouldn’t call it a crust, it was not “crispy” as if under a broiler, it was soggy and mushy and pushed off the steak and left to the edge of plate. When we mentioned this to the waiter he paused and remained silent and then turned and walked away without any reply. The steak itself was very good, as were the leek mashed potatoes. All in all, this place was good. A couple small adjustments and maybe a more descriptive menu and it would have been better.

From the moment we walked in, the service was incredible! From the lounge bartender, to the hostess! The service staff at our table was like no other. It was like they knew what we were thinking before we asked for it. Food was incredible as well!! The cauliflower appetizer is like nothing I’ve ever had before. We had the chef special w a beef tenderloin cooked perfectly and lobster veggie medley on top. It was perfect! Thank u so much for a great evening!!!

Can't imagine why there is not more "Buzz" about this place! We were greeted warmly. Our server, Michael, was both informed and exuberant about their fare; obviously wanted us to hold his chef in as high regard as he did! We do now.
My wife started with Three Cheese French Onion Soup. Then The Berkshire Thick Cut Pork Chop with Herbed Au Jus and a Smoked Gouda Au Gratin side. I began with Chili Lime Crisp Calamari (now ranks as my Best-in-Town), and a Chef's daily special that was essentially a chateaubriand for one served on an assorted quash vegetable medley atop a bed of Roasted Pepper Mashed Potatoes. The medallions of tenderloin were topped with Lobster flakes, a cream sauce and sprinkled with micro greens.
All beautifully presented, serving paced well without rush, and a treat to eat. We both cleaned our plates.

Service & food were both great. A little pricier than expected but we were there for Valentine's Dinner So We anticipated a hike in the prices from the regular menu. While the price could have been a little less, overall we had a fantastic time & our waiter did an outstanding job as did the Chef whose culinary skills were definitely on point! Our experience was a great one & We will be returning in the future.

My boyfriend and I dined here as a early Valentine Day celebration. We both had been here with friends for lunch a couple of times but never together, or for dinner at all. I can speak for the both of us in saying that we were very impressed and will be dining here again for lunch and/or dinner. Alex was our waiter and he by far was the best waiter that I have ever had. Very funny, attentive, and knowledgeable in what we ordered or had questions about. Shannon was the manager on duty that night and she too was very kind. This restaurant is a added and much needed gem to not only downtown Springfield but to the city of Springfield as a whole.

Loukinens' is arguably the best restaurant in Springfield right now. The food is imaginative and flawlessly prepared; the service polite and discrete; and the room tastefully decorated and relatively quiet, with modern jazz playing in the background. The owners clearly know how to run an upscale operation.

I recently ate at Loukinen's on 4th for an early birthday dinner with family. I would describe our satisfaction with the meal as mixed. One of our party had the lamb and felt it was excellent. Two of us had the filet and had very different experiences. One person felt their filet was excellent, the best they'd had. I would describe my filet as somewhat overcooked (medium, rather than the medium rare I ordered) and was largely bland. The size and cut of the meat were great, but the flavor was average, at best. We also had mixed experiences with the sides, the gouda au gratin potatoes were superb, while the asparagus was overcooked and lacking any flavor. The desserts were an absolute highlight, blood orange crème brulee and a specialty white cake, I cannot recall the name. We received excellent, attentive service. Overall, I would recommend Loukinen's. Given the price of the filet and vegetable side, I would have liked for the steak to be prepared as ordered and with better flavor. This would also be true for the asparagus side.

Lunch for a sparse salad and a cup of tea was $20 with tip. The salad I ordered contained an ingredient that I am allergic to, so I asked if they could substitute more of another protein since they were removing that part of the salad. Literally, I got about a cup of arugula on top of some chopped beets, with eight dime-sized goat cheese croutons. The item was grossly overpriced, value was marginal. Then, I asked for hot tea (very cold day) and the server wasn't sure if they had any tea bags. He came back to the table with a tea box, totally dishoveled with mostly Earl Gray and breakfast tea varieties. (I was there for lunch.) I'm not sure about going back.

Spectacular! Recommend for special occasions
Threw a surprise 30th for a dear friend. Laurie, the GM/owner was superb. She arranged the best table in the house for us. Invited us to arrive early to decorate & get ready. And, she continued to check in on our table throughout the evening. Waitstaff excellent & attentive. Five stars for service. They couldn't have been more accomodating. We lacked for nothing ALL night.
