Alligator Cheesecake, Andouille Fried Red Beans & Rice w/Chipotle Mousse, & Fried Redfish with Crawfish Etouffe.
Ambiance was great. Service still had some kinks, to be expected with a new place I guess. Food was not my favorite, but I'm not a particular fan of New Orleans food. Definitely worth trying!
I have never had better service. We were tended to as if we were the only patrons in the restaurant.
This was our second visit to Louisiana Purchase and it was not a fluke. Both time the food has been fantastic. Everything is thoughtfully planned out and very rich. It is a great spot to share plates and try as much as possible. We arrived about 15 minutes early and went to grab a drink at the bar, their only bartender was on the far side chatting with another patron and never acknowledged us. Finally, we gave up and went to the hostess to be seated. Our server was great and knowledgable and made up for us being snuffed off at the bar. Great ambience and perfect layout, great value for price.
Better than we expected. The Old Fashioned cocktails were amazing and a great value. We can’t stop talking about the grilled peaches and scallops. Looking forward to returning very soon.
very tasty and original food. good flavorw, snice decor and friendly service.
It was a perfect setting overall with delicious food.
Great food! Love twist to cajun cuisine. Definitely will be back again.
Tried this place out on a Thursday night. I was surprised to only find a handful of people in the restaurant. I ordered the shrimp po boy and it did not disappoint. The only downer to this spot is the lack of ambiance. Maybe this place is better on the weeknights .
How bad does something have to be to taste WORSE with butter? Let me explain... I was stoked to go to a place that had such an awesome menu and the food pics had me sold! I took a day off from my diet and I was eager to ruin my waistline with delicious food. My waitress, who I dubbed "Hurry-up Heather", felt the need to remind us that the kitchen closed at 9pm, at least five times. I had an 8:30pm reservation. Because we felt rushed, we quickly ordered. We ordered from the Small plates, Entrees, and Desserts. EVERYTHNG CAME OUT AT ONCE. I just watched the ice cream melt on my dessert as I disappointingly picked at my meal. Here's what we ordered:
Crispy Cauliflower - very good
Crab Fingers - weird flavor, added butter to make it better. It did not.
Peaches and Scallops - the peaches were from a can and very bitter. The latkes had zero taste. The execution of this dish was lousy.
North Park Gumbo Yaya - idk where North Park is, but if that's how they do gumbo there, I'll never visit. Meatballs and fish DO NOT belong in gumbo! The gumbo had a gravy-like consistency and an unappealing taste.
The Dookey Chase - Mrs. Leah Chase would not have been pleased. The chicken had no detectable flavor and the greens had too much bite to them.
Ooey Gooey Dessert - the menu says it is "better than sex"... It is not! Think of your worst romantic experience and then imagine an even worse version of that. That's what the cake (with the melted ice cream) tasted like.
Hurry-up Heather took away plates that were barely touched and was aware of our dissatisfaction. She did nothing to improve the experience. $126 and 2 hours later, I found myself in another restaurant.
The ambiance was nice the music was too loud, the service and our server was great. The drinks were good, but overall the food was lacking in flavor. Ordered the gumbo, good shrimp, too greasy, little gumbo spicy flavor. FYI spicy hot is not a flavor. The collard greens were ok but too much vinegar and not enough flavor. The cornbread was too salty, came with no butter and was the only side to a shrimp dish which was flavorful with the bbq sauce. Sauce was great, but cost way too much for what it was. Overall too pricey for the neighborhood and the food was just not delicious enough to warrant the cost.Might go back once more when I am flush and try again. Might recommend with caution about cost.
The food was horrible. The waitress was all over the place and flies were everywhere
The food was good and the staff was kind. However, they were very busy and completely understaffed. We had a 12:45 reservation for 2 and we left there at 2:45. We sat for about 20 minutes before we were greeted by our server. We ordered and food took over 30 minutes to come out. Food was cold and our order was incomplete. It took our server another 20 or so minutes to come back to our table. Our drinks went dry and the refills and new drink orders arrived after our meals were finished.
The food was good despite it being cold upon arrival to our table.
We would like to try it again as we love NOLA cuisine but will try another time option next time
The alligator cheesecake was delicious and a must order! We will be back.
My friends and I went here for my birthday dinner and I had a wonderful evening. Being from Louisiana, I can be a bit skeptical of southern inspired food anywhere west of Texas, however I was extremely impressed. We were able to try eight different dishes from the menu and every single one was delicious. My favorite however was the linguine with crawfish. Crawfish, REAL crawfish?! Are you kidding me?! I almost never see that out here, and when I do I am always disappointed. This dish was perfection. I definitely over ate and I will be getting that dish the next time I go. The drinks were creative and had a fun presentation. I tried to go into the night with no expectations (but really probably expected to be disappointed at some point) and I left with nothing but great things to say. Go to this restaurant! And if you’re from the south, I think you will be very pleasantly surprised.
Food was delish! Service was great! Would recommend to friends.
Food was amazing and came out fast and hot. We actually got our food before our drinks. The alligator cheesecake is a much have.
This was my first dining experience & I really enjoyed the alligator cheesecake it was unbelievably delicious! I couldn't get enough of it! The greens tasted like canned glory greens & need more work, as well as the fried chicken wings. Also, we had the lobster linguini which was very good & the season was on point. The only thing I would suggest is the lobster to be completely out of the shell because I don't like to fight to get my meat especially when you don't have the proper utensils to crack the shell. Overall it's a great place to eat & I'll definitely be going back!
I’m a NoLa-phile and the food stood up to my very high hopes for this spot. The boudin balls and blackened catfish were standouts!
Girls night out, the food was outstanding. Save room for dessert you will not be disappointed.
Absolutely delicious! I love the fried chicken and cheese biscuit.
Always a pleasant dining experience. Friendly bartenders and great craft cocktails!!
Everything was amazing!
Menu was original and delicious. Can't wait to return and try other things!
I really love Louisiana and I was excited to visit Louisiana Purchased. This place is beautiful. I really love the decor and the ambiance. The servers were so helpful and nice. We tried the acme oysters which were really tasty. I got one of the specials which was a burger with fried lobster, it was delicious. My fiancé got the gumbo, this was a little bland but he’d get it again. The drinks here are Amazing! The swizzle is a must try, it comes in a skull display, super cute presentation! Definitely recommend... I’ll be back!
I would recommend to a friend to enjoy the delicious Cajun Ribeye. It was amazing with the crawfish crème sauce on top. The collard greens were well seasoned and paired nicely with the blackened steak. The combo transported me back home to SE Texas and my time living in NOLA. If not for the gumbo, I would have given this review 5-stars. However, the gumbo was not on target. For someone who has never enjoyed gumbo before, the taste could seem right; especially, with the generous portions of seafood. That said, I was looking for the gumbo taste from home and I did not find it at the Louisiana Purchase. The ambiance was relaxing and the wait staff friendly and efficient.
Trendy vibe in a hip neighborhood with legit New Orleans cuisine.
I have been so excited to try Louisiana Purchase since it opened. It lived up to my expectations 100%. The food was amazing and the service was very fast. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and I loved all of the outdoor space. As the night got later, it got busier so ensure you make a reservation. The brunch looks great and I am making plans to come back for that. My one piece of advice would be to ask for the prices before ordering off of the neighborhood menu. We weren't given a menu for that and ended up ordering something very pricey. The waitstaff should provide at least one per table, that would be a huge help.
Little bit of sticker shock on prices and disappointed to only see one Louisiana beer on tap. We split three starters, and they were all so good. The special, the charbroiled oysters, were easily our favorite. Service seemed to be stretched a bit thin, so seemed unattentive, but was otherwise friendly and helpful.
Didn't have a New Orleans flair. The food wasn't anywhere close as far as flavors go. My 'duck hash' (skillet potatoes) were overcooked and you could taste the grease was old that they cooked it in. I ordered a Po Boy and it was just bread and fried shrimp nothing special and I've had good Po Boys before. My husband had a crawfish pasta dish..again, the pasta and sauce was as if they used some store bought sauce. I was expecting southern Creole food. We were disappointed. The decor and place is really nice though.
We did not get your whole order. The waitress did get the order correct.
I was super pleased with the ambience and service. The food was amazing, definitely took me back to my visit to NOLA. Will definitely be back again!
Very spicy beans and rice and the aytoofay and the pulled pork dessert was very greasy and pricy for a dessert... the scallops and peaches were great!
I loved everything about this place. It definitely lived up to my friends recommendation.
Awesome little neighborhood gem! We will be coming back for more!
Good food and ambiance. Joe was a phenomenal waiter. Very funny & thoughtful. I can't wait to go back!
5-star. Will be back.
went to LP to celebrate our mom's birthday brunch and we had an outrageously disappointing experience. the server was not interested nor attentive in the slightest bit. our food arrived cold and in pools of grease. the server basically threw the dishes down upon arrival. ambiance is great tho, i think its more of an appropriate place to visit to grab a quick beverage but certainly not for food or lingering.
We’ve been to the restaurant 3 times now and have tried something new each time. Everything has been delicious! Love that they have a rotating menu with something new and creative each week. We’ve also had great service each visit. I will say that I often feel a bit wasteful with the amount of bread that each dish comes with. If you aren’t into too many carbs maybe ask them to hold off on the bread sides.
I was really excited to try LP. This is a mixed review because some things were outstanding and some things were very sub-par. The restaurant is cute and has a good ambiance. We tried many things so I'll start with the outstanding. The Ribeye and Better Than Sex Cake were phenomenal. I am glad we ended with those because the small plates were disappointing. The biscuits were very dry. I LOVE crab fingers but the crab finger appetizer was terrible. The crab was tough and the sauce just didn't work. The chicken skins were ok but one taste was enough (they come in a large portion). The cornbread etouffee was ok, but again, from an Antoine's chef I expected much more. On the whole, I wouldn't necessarily go there again unless the food quality greatly improves to what I would expect to eat as a native South Louisiana girl.
Wonderful food and great service with lively crowd.
