My steak was one of the best I’d ever had.
Food good, but slightly overpriced. Parking was awful!
Louie was an amazing recommendation to celebration a graduation. Thank you, Louie! And thank you, Quinn for the recommendation. It was brilliant!
Beautiful setting and wonderful food and service
I ordered the "POLLO “RIZZO” SCARPARIELLO, which was described on the menu as "bone-in chicken." The chicken indeed had bones in it, but it was totally fried chicken, my children, and whenever I've had anything like this dish in the past the chicken was baked (and in fact the menu says it's "baked in a garlic herb broth"). I have nothing against fried chicken, but when it's swimming in a literal vinegary sea of what tasted for all the world like the liquid straight out of a jar of pickled cherry peppers, and surrounded by what were supposed to "fried potatoes" and sausage swimming in that same super-tangy, soggy sea, YUCK! I also like spicy, piquant food, btw, but it wasn't possible to choke this down. And I am not--repeat not--a picky eater. If you go there, for sure avoid this thing....
The outdoor seating is spectacular! Beautiful views and great music!
We were celebrating our daughter's college graduation and since her favorite food is Italian, decided to give Louis a try. (Have eaten downstairs at Cossetta's many times over the years, so I knew we could count on good quality Italian food.) We were very pleased with the food and service. From the front desk folks, to Stacey, who brought us water, to Allison, our server, everyone was friendly and welcoming. We all enjoyed our dinners — generous potions and great flavors. It's not a particularly quiet room, which makes it a little harder for me (a bit hard of hearing), but overall we had a wonderful evening. Our reservation was on the late side (8:15), and because it was a special occasion, we did linger over dessert, but nobody ever made us feel rushed, even though we were about the last party in there (except for a few folks at the bar). I'd recommend it for a special dinner out!
Service started out very slow but got better. Food was pretty good. They have a nice roof top area. Lots of choices if you want to grab something to eat on the first level.
Attentive and friendly service, delicious food, quiet atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon, comfortable decor, excellent parking service. Best caprese salad and tiramisu I've ever had, and I really enjoyed the Joel Gott cabernet sauvignon. I have eaten here a number of times and have never been disappointed.
The service was very attentive and excellent. The cocktails were tasty and the food was very flavorful and plated well. Had an enjoyable evening.
This was the first time we ate inside. The food and service was awesome. We would go back for sure.
We were excited to try come here had heard such good things. Atmosphere and staff/service were great! Very disappointed in the food; was less than average!
Table was ready before reservation. Food was delicious, service was great and check out as well.
We have been here twice. The first time the place was deserted, but on the second occasion there was a concert at the Xcel Center and the place was packed. On this second occasion, the young waitress appeared calm, collected and unrushed, despite the chaos.
The food is good, but not great standard Italian. The portions are generous and none of our group ordering pasta was able to finish their meal. This is part of the problem: Despite having listed antipasti, primi piatti and secondi piatti, the size of the servings limits options. What they need are two different pasta choices, a smaller size for the true primo piatto and a larger main course size.
The side dishes were a disappointment. The carrots were beyond crunchy--rock hard. The spinach with oil and garlic was bitter tasting.
Always good, food always hot, staff always friendly
We have never had a bad experience at Louis. Management goes way above and beyond to ensure satisfaction. We had an incident last summer where the wine we ordered wasn't available. The wine recommended as a substitute had gone bad. The manager comped us not one, but TWO, bottles of very good wine. When we tried to pay for at least one of them, she refused and insisted we get both on the house.
This was my first time at Louis and I absolutely loved it. This will be my “go to” Italian restaurant in the Twin Cities. Everything we had..crab cake appetizer, Caprese salad and two different pastas were perfect. Friendly smart service.
Food and service were great.
Way to many Jet's fans taking up space :)
Glad the Wild thumped them!
The food was amazing! Louis never disappoints!
The food was outstanding! Favorite place in the Twin Cities. We ordered four dishes and ate family style plus appetizers and each and everyone was exceedingly delicious- the kind of food you cannot put your fork down even when full.
So happy with Louis. I was pleasantly surprised on the night of our reservation; it was packed with Frozen Four attendees vying for a table and our reservation for two was honored and right there waiting for us. When they easily could have given it away to a larger party.
Then the service and authentic Italian cuisine was impeccable. I had linguini con vongole which I had had in Venice Italy just a few months prior and it was spot on. There is much to this restaurant with several floors and an awesome Italian pastierre and market on the first floor what a great find. Measures up to anything you'll find in NYC or Boston's North End.
Fantastic meal. Our server was awesome making sure we felt important with 2 large parties as well. Worked well around my dairy allergy too. Strongly recommend a reservation.
We were looking for a new dining experience and found it here at Louis. Food was fresh with intriguing combinations. Loved the Calamari appetizer, excellent wine selection and service
One of the BEST in St. Paul. Ingredients 100% the best quality, food is exceptional and 100% worth the price if willing to pay. We LOVE the market downstairs as well. I'd imagine the best in the region!
This was our second time there and we were celebrating a friend's birthday. The suggestion was ours, since we had such an amazing time the previous time we dined there. The service was awesome, the food amazing and the atmosphere was the perfect vibe for our friend's birthday celebration.
Food and drinks were delicious! But the noise level was very loud. Made it difficult to have a conversation.
We took our sons and spouses here for two of their birthdays and one anniversary. While the overall bill was quite high it was a great atmosphere and the food was great. I thought the spare ribs I had were exceptional but the overall amount of food was small.
If ever we return to St. Paul, we will surely plan to go to Louis. The food was really good, the portions hefty. The service was top notch. The tiramisu was the crowning item of the meal.
Had an excellent meal- very good, professional and accommodating staff! I had the bolognese the first day - and enjoyed it. returned a few days later and had the orchietta with broccoli rabe and sausage. it was delicious but could have used more rabe.
Excellent as always. Will be back!
We’ve been to Louie’s a number of times, typically before Wild games. We often order the chicken parm. This time the chicken was over cooked, brown with the consistency of rubber. It was one of the worst meals we’ve ever had and easily the worst meal we’ve ever had a Louie’s. The manager came over and asked us how our meal was. We explained that the chicken was terrible and asked if they’d starting using different chicken. He said no. He again asked how it was. Well, it hasn’t changed in 30 seconds since the first time he asked. He didn’t ask if he could make us a new dish. He didn’t remove it from our bill. He did absolutely nothing knowing very well the meal was terrible.
Awesome!! Absolutely amazing food! Waitress remembers my wine bottle every time I come back. Good service!
Great food. Great choices. Good prices.
Great service - both when I sat at the bar, and again when I moved to a table. Food was excellent as always, will return next time I'm DT St. Paul.
We had a wonderful time as a family celebrating birthdays! The food was delicious and the service even better!!
Loved our meal and the service was great. Only challenge was hearing the other couple we were with across the table and the cold air coming from the door to the patio. The delicious food made up for those inconveniences.
Excellent food and service! Will definitely be back.
One of my favorite restaurants in St. Paul!
