I was traveling, decided to stop for some dinner, and chose Louie’s on a whim. The crab dumplings are delicious- the cream sauce is laced with tarragon and is a lovely compliment to the crab. I also had the catch of the day (mahi) with mushroom risotto, green beans, and a saffron cream. The fish was grilled but not “bbq” flavored, which was nice with the saffron, and the risotto was perfectly creamy, but still had that al dente bite you want. Wine list is a good length as to not be overwhelming, and my server was attentive but not smothering. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in SB!
The porch at Louie’s was a beautiful setting for a dimmer birthday dinner! They have a small but carefully curated lust of local wines by the glass. We had fun crafting our own little tasting of roses & chardonnays.
Louie’s was busy but the service was still timely and great. As usual, the food was fantastic.
Such an adorable romantic little place! We loved it! Wonderful food Amd kind attentive service!
Love this treasure of a Restaurant. Thank you for the quality and service.
Wonderful & elegant ambiance, delicious food, excellent service…
Good food and service. The dog at the next table barked several times and begged food from its owners…annoying. Dogs and fine food restaurants are not a good match….they diminish the experience of other paying customers.
Great dinner. Fantastic ambience. Highly recommended for a romantic dinner. Their Cioppinno is to die for.
Nice quiet place to have dinner. Service and food was spot on.
We totally enjoyed our experience at Louie's, from the delightful outdoor ambience to
the food and service. The staff was responsive to our needs in every way. Our wine
and food, including dessert, were delicious. Hooray for a great experience!
Appetizer and wine were great. Entree came which was one of the specials, Puff pastry with chicken & rice and you wouldn't know that the same chef made this who made the appetizer. Rice was under cooked, chicken was not seasoned, puff pastry on the bottom was soggy and the small triangle on top had no flavor. 4 broccoli crowns were on the plate and were cold with no seasoning. Paid $30+ for this entree and it was definitely not worth the money. Service was mediocre at best. They were very attentive when you arrive, never came and asked if we enjoyed the appetizer and didn't clear away the dirty plates until they came to serve the entree. Our waiter never came back to see if we enjoyed any part of our meal or to take the check. There are to many good restaurants in Santa Barbara to have such a mediocre meal. Definitely will not return or recommend them to any friends!
As always the fish was excellent! The Pinot Noir (Cordon) an absolute favorite. Our female server was excellent!
We will continue to dine at Louies whenever in Santa Barbara!
Great spot for outside dining.
Lovely porch seating for a delicious meal!
Great food, excellent service. Highly recommend!
Wonderful ambience, friendly staff, some excellent dishes - a nice santa barbara evening
Absolutely amazing meal, the ingredients were so fresh. The rack of lamb was out of this world delicious. Ceasar salad homemade dressing worth every bite.
This is an excellent restaurant for it's ambience and it's historical value. The service is excellent.
Incredible neighborhood location. Best lamb in 40 years of restaurant visiting! Outstanding overall.
Our first time to Santa Barbara. Lovely place for a birthday celebration.
The ambiance was absolutely perfect and the location itself was so super cute, cozy and well-manicured. Absolutely beautiful! The service was top notch, as well! The food, we gave 3.5 out of 5 because my daughter’s noodles were a bit bland, as well as the mahi-mahi. My son had the chicken the waiter apologized and got us fresh, clean flatware. I’d love to visit again, especially b/c of the excellent service and location.
Excellent diner on the veranda!
Good food and cozzie place. Good place for a date.
Awesome good and service! We tried three of the desserts and all were amazing. Highly recommend this lovely restaurant!
As always, everything about our dining experience as fabulous! The lamb was especially delicious. Thank you!
I had a lovely birthday dinner with my family at Louie’s. It has an old school Santa Barbara feel and the food and drinks were fantastic. We started with the dumplings and crab cakes then I had Filet Mignon. Others had salmon, linguine & Sole. Food temperature was great which is something I expect with fine dining. The only downside is I was craving a cocktail and they are beer and wine only. Totally not a reason to not go. Have a cocktail before you go! Highly recommend.
In a neighborhood boutique hotel. The rack of lamb special was plentiful and good. Seemed that regulars frequent.
Our favorite table allowed quiet conversation in despite a busy dining room. We're so happy they're open again, and hope that they will expand their hours to include weekday lunches again.
Father's Day Brunch. Lovely atmosphere on the porch with white tablecloths, good selection (not huge, but good variety) of brunch (mostly breakfast) options, and great service. Highly recommend!
Our server was lovely. Her name is Katie.
Very delicious food in a lovely and historic setting.
Always good service and outstanding food. Outside dining is great.
Love the wine selection, service and food are top notch. Such a hidden jem. We Will be back.
This was our first time at Louie's Bistro and the food and service were great. Our waitress was attentive, friendly and had a great sense of humor. The surroundings are beautiful. We sat on the patio and the weather was perfect.
Food was delicious, somewhat cold in restaurant. Asked them to close the door to the outside but they wouldn’t 😞!
Good food. Server was inexperienced but pleasant.
I almost hate to write a great review about this place as it is really a “local” winner and I would like to keep it that way.
However, as it is a bit off the main drag, in a quiet neighborhood area, it will probably remain undiscovered, for awhile at least.
EVERYTHING these people do is done well. The menu is basic, yet with numerous special items like the Crab Meat Dumplings with Artichoke hearts or the “just like mom used to make” Meat Loaf with freshly smashed potatoes and crisply cooked carrots and squash, plus the incredible house Bananas Flambé, well, you get the idea. Reserve early as last night (Tuesday) they were full, inside and out by 6:30.
Charming spot with a nice menu & experienced wait people.
Very, very good food that is fairly priced. Attentive but not cloying service. Very happy atmosphere. Quiet enough to have a conversation but not staid. Highly recommended.
