Wonderful old charm restaurant with yummy food and drinks.
Always Go to Louise's for a special treat and they never dissapoint.
Always enjoy going to Louie's .. great food and service!!!
Girls Trip! Special Birthday Dinner!
The food was delicious, the setting was beautiful, the service was great. However, the ambience is very, very quiet we felt a bit out of place since we were a bit of a louder group.
Only went there because it was close to where we were staying, and was very pleasantly surprised. Crab dumplings to die for! Cozy little place with great food and service.
We had a nice intimate dinner. Food was good and the service was great!! Very nice and quiet place.
Outstanding food, impeccable service, great ambiance. You can't go wrong with Louie's!
I used to love Louie's, but this week's dinner was a disappointment. Although the server was friendly and efficient, the host was cold. The filet tip appetizer was gristly and tough with little flavor. The crab dumplings were ok, but nothing special. The seabass was overcooked and flavorless, although the accompanying risotto wasn't bad. The bananas Louie dessert tasted like supermarket freezer puff pastry with hardly any bananas--this used to be my favorite, but this time I took one bite and shoved it aside. Way overpriced for a subpar meal.
My favorite place to go for a wonderful meal in a quiet, comfortable atmosphere. It’s where I always take out-of-towners who aren’t interested in typical tourist restaurants.
We didn't know that Sunday was for Brunch only which mostly included egg dishes. The server asks those in the kitchen if there could be one dish not on the menu. They said "no."
The food was not great, so different from what we have experienced before. Sorry.
Really a hidden Gem - Selfishly, we would hope for it to stay that way.
Wonderful, swift service. Love how quiet it is and that they play mellow, instrumental music.
Louie's has always been a sure bet for very good food and service. Maybe it's a result of the year of being opened and closed so often, but I did not have the usual experience as in the past. Food was expensive and average.
GREAT food. We were seated at a table with no lighting which made it very difficult to order and eat. No suggestions given or offered so it was disappointing.
They seemed to be seriuolsy understaffd, which hopefully lead to the poor service. The food was decent, but not great; overall not a place I'd recommend.
The food was absolutely fantastic especially the filet of Sole dish. The service sort of faded after we were offered & accepted the dessert menu. But all in all, we would go back again in a heart beat.
Wish they had a full bar
Our experience at Louie’s was great. My sister, mother and her boyfriend and I were on a central CA coast road trip for a week (I’m from San Francisco) and this was the best meal we had a the whole time! We love old historic houses (and ghost stories) so the location was great. The salads were beautiful and tasty with perfect ratios, the entrees all tasted great (maybe needed a bit of salt), and the desserts were amazing. The banana dessert in particular was soooo yummy!! The only thing we didn’t love was the crab appetizer. It was creative, but the flavors were a little weird together. But overall great service and value. We will definitely be coming back if we’re in Santa Barbara again.
This continues to be one of the most consistently good restaurants in SB. A little hard to find as it is 2 blocks away from State Street and at the upper end of dining spots; but it is a favorite of many locals who don't enjoy people watching and in you face interaction. Wonderful menu and warm, personal service make this our favorite go to destination in SB.
Eating here is always a delightful experience, though we skipped dessert because of the loud and flirty drunken hotel guest who came into the restaurant to strike up a conversation with the maitre d. We’d expect that type of ambiance at Joe’s, just not here.
Everything was lovely. Grilled meatloaf interesting but pretty dry. Will be back bc all else was perfect!
We had a lovely Easter Brunch. We ordered the Crab and shrimp Benedict, excellent, the omelet and American Breakfast. All was very tasty. We were surprised that at a12:30 reservation that there wasn’t anything in the way of a lunch item added to the menu. It was all breakfast items. Other than that, the service was extremely slow. Yet everyone was very personable. We will definitely return keeping in mind that it will be a very leisurely time.
Great place for lunch and loved the outdoor seating on the wraparound porch. Food and drinks were great too!
My husband and I enjoyed each other. Friendly people. Nice ambience. This place seems to have a history... when I inquired about it no one knew the full story. That would have been a nice detail to share. I had the sea bass special. I’m not a hard sell when it comes to food... I’m just excited someone is cooking and it’s not me, but sadly this sea bass was terrible. The wine I paired with it (Pinot gris) was just ok. I should have gone with the Chardonnay. The appetizers were very good and my hubby’s entree a shrimp linguine (red sauce) was ok. I truly wish I could give more stars but this was my honest experience.
Quality food and presentation, nice atmosphere, and well paced meal.
Dinner and service was excellent. So glad to see them re-open. I encourage everyone make a reservation and support this locally owned restaurant.
Great food. Friendly service. Great location and ambience. Love this place!
What a great place to enjoy Sunday brunch. The food and service was great and the ambiance is the best in Santa Barbara.
Thank you again, Sean, for treating us (plus dog) to a wonderful evening.
Good location, good service, good food. We loved our lunch.
Sitting on the veranda, away from other dinners, felt COVID-safe. Beautiful setting, delicious food. Life felt delightfully normal for the few hours we were there. Thank you, Louie!
Louie’s continues to provide excellent food and service. Highly recommend the lamb!!
We made a pit stop here for dinner, and everything was excellent.
Lovely seating on the veranda in the sun, delicious salads and soup, chicken in a puff pastry, topped off with apple pie, creme brûlée and cappuccino.
Perfect dinner. Sea bass was delicious, as well as presentation.
Louie's is a favorite of ours to return too. Now important for safety is outdoor seating and good separation. Staff is always knowledgeable and friendly, food is always great, good selection of wine, and always an overall enjoyable experience.
Great food and Service!
High quality fresh local food and we will definitely be back.
It was so relaxing and nice to escape from COVID-19 for awhile.
Very charming with excellent bistro cuisine. Louie's is the in-house restaurant in a lovely victorian hotel. We dined on the veranda with pleasing views of the landscaping and surrounding neighborhood. Service was very friendly and skilled, and my sesame crusted salmon as well as my husband's baked sole were simply exquisite and handsomely presented.
