Louie's by the Bay
Food was terrible.
Delicious food, great service, fast serving, good views!
Our third time there and never disappointed! The food, service
Ce and atmosphere is perfect!
Beautiful harbor views from most every seat, outstanding! The bartender has wonderfully crafted cocktails (try the whiskey sour or gin & tonic). The pasta was perfection. I went with the Louie Lobster Salad - perfect for dinner. Others at the table said the lasagna was out of this world good! Great service and friendly owner.
Really excellent food and service. Our waitress was quite thoughtful and courteous. She presented the
menu and specials with knowledgeable input.
Great food and experience. Recommend getting a drink at the bar too!
Everything was great. We had a great table, our food was amazing and our server was polite, friendly and informed. I look forward to coming back.
Authentic food, great staff, beautiful view and engaging bar.
This was our first visit. Food was fabulous, lasagna the best ever. One of our guests said, "This is the best fish I ever tasted." (Chilean Sea Bass) Piero was the consummate host and recommend some fabulous wines. Noise level was a little high, but everyone was just having a great time! We'll certainly be going back soon!
Harbor views are beautiful! Decor and ambiance are very nice! My beet salad was excellent, pasta special was good and chocolate cake was fantastic!
We go to Louie's frequently & are always pleased! We take all our family members & friends & I tell everyone I know to to to Louie's. Keep up the good work! (& good food!)
We were celebrating a good friends birthday and wanted to try this restaurant for the first time! It did not disappoint! Loved the design, decor and food. It was a little too pricey though for planning just another night out with our friends.
Very impressed! Beautiful decor. Warm feeling. Owners there and greeting as we came and left . Charming ! Highly recommended!
Beautiful restaurant, great ambiance and amazing food. Had a great time and would recommend it highly!
Great location and views. Very noisy. Food is pricey but good. Our server was not good and was not consistent with the experience we were expecting nor the experience I am sure management expects for their customers. The server at the tables next to ours was outstanding as we could overhear how he was taking care of his guests. We were jealous we didn't get him and upset we got stuck with the one we had.
Although the food is not bad it is way overpriced for the quality. At $50 bucks an entree, I should be wowed. Was not wowed. Lamb chops were huge but did not have a rich lamb flavor. Cioppino broth was average at best. Thought for price there should be more seafood in it or the quality of the seafood should have been much higher. Waiter was somewhat attentive until our food came and then we didn’t see him again until dessert time. Never checked in on food. The views are awesome though and the decor is excellent. Noisy but they are not going for the quiet romantic vibe. I’d go back for cocktails and appys. But at that price for entrees there are many better options. Cannery for example. I give yes to recommend for the views and ambience.
Very very nice ambiance, the restaurant is right on the bay. Service is very attentive - drinks were great. The food is good but not amazing. One big negative is the acoustics: once the restaurant starts to get busy you can not hear yourself think, much less have a conversation.
The other big negative is the valet parking situation: the parking lot simply is not big enough to accommodate all of the cars that need to be parked. It was a stalled out traffic jam on Saturday night - we finally got our own keys (after paying a $7.00 valet fee) and then sat in the traffic jam trying to get around and out the driveway for about 45 minutes.
So, if you're going to go, I would recommend going on a weekday if you can so that hopefully noise level is less and valet will hopefully be able to take and bring back your car in a timely manner.
Fabulous on all counts: Menu, food, service, setting.
I was excited to try it but was very disappointed. Food was mediocre and service was not very good. I would not recommend it and I will not return.
We were seated right next to the bar which was very crowded, and in particular we were next to a very loud and rowdy group of people. They were using a lot of profanity and yelling. The manager kept apologizing to us, but he didn’t offer to move us (there were plenty of better tables open) and the situation continued throughout more than half of our meal.
The food was ok; the server was embarrassed as well about the terrible noise. We couldn’t hear each other speaking nor what the server was saying. It was a very disappointing meal and experience. Nothing was offered to rectify the situation. In retrospect, we should have left.
We will not return nor recommend to other friends. Definitely do not sit near the bar if you want to have a conversation with other dinner guests.
Beautiful location, attentive service and fun atmosphere. The food is okay. The shrimp was served with shell on and was hard to eat. Other entrees were fine but not great. Go for atmosphere, not food.
A perfect evening to share with a friend on his birthday. Everyone was very kind. Happy to recommend - and thank the good people at Louie’s.
Waiter was experienced
Food and ambiance was great!!
Salad and entrees came out at the same time? Medium filet was cold in the center.
Beautiful spot, great water views, attentive service, and wonderful food. Great addition to Newport Beach.
Nikky was great. We will be back!!
We take all our friends & family members to Louie's! We love it for every reason! And thank you for accomodating our seating request!
Billy was great. Steaks are overpriced but very good.
I was very excited to eat there. I made a reservation, but was sat by a large party. The waitress was enthusiastic and welcoming, but midway the bus boy was more attentive (who was extremely nice). The food was okay. I ordered the lasagna. It could have been hotter and the presentation of food was disappointing. I don’t mind paying for good food when there’s great service and presentation, but Louie’s by the Bay did not meet our expectations for what they are charging for their food. Plus, if someone makes a reservation and says they haven’t seen someone in a year, you’d think they’d place you in a more intimate table instead of by a large table. Overall, we were disappointed. However, the interior was well designed.
Ok honestly.. this location seems to turn over faster than some of my 909 properties.
Great location... really it's on the waterfront., guest slip limited to about 30'
The menu seemed a little limited IMO. My real nit is that they charge you $5 for "bread service" and if that was not enough girls had bottle of wine OK selection. Guys each had scotch.. guess what were charged $3 per drink for ICE..REALLY Not going back....ever!
Service, food, drinks, and ambiance was perfect. Comfortable and well cared for all the way through.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The Manager, Colby, who we know from the Cannery was so attentive and made us feel very comfortable. He worked the room flawlessly, assisting the wait staff. He was gracious to come by our table and bid us good night.
For a $200 meal, I would’ve expected much better food.
The place has great view tables and booths. The food was good, but not exceptional. We had a nice time.
“Unbroken “ is one of my favorite stories, so I’ve been wanting to visit the restaurant since the day I heard about Louie’s. We had a wonderful time.
Great food in a wonderful environment. Welcome to Newport Beach Louie's!
So many great things about this place but still need improving for the price.
We had reservations, we showed up early 1/2 hour...they were happy to seat us. Our waiter came over right away but we were not ready to make a decision on drinks or appetizers....we didn't see him again for 15 minutes. There seemed to be a confusion on who was our waiter as we saw 2 waiters say, " is that your table"? so maybe that was the reason. In any event, because it was Father's Day the regular menu was not available, it was a brunch menu and we really didn't see anything on there we wanted so we ordered the specials. There were 3 specials and we ordered them all. Ravioli's were (4) and skimpy. Short ribs on top of I think grits?? was juicy, tasty but skimpy. The last one, shrimp w angel hair was amazing. Valet parking out front was convenient. Pricy, but wonderful views and it was Father's Day so we made it special.
Nice views and great food!
I HAVE RECOMMENDED THIS RESTUARANT TO A NUMBER OF FRIENDS
