Louie's by the Bay
So many great things about this place but still need improving for the price.
Nice views and great food!
I HAVE RECOMMENDED THIS RESTUARANT TO A NUMBER OF FRIENDS
Just a casual evening with friends, first time there and we all loved it! Can’t wait to go back.
I'll give it another try at at bar but it was just meh given the prices. Even if it was a little cheaper I'd still expect a bit more.
the reservation made on open table did not match what was requested....table by the window somehow became translated as table for 4 at bar table. the food is just mediocre...and this is the 2nd trip.
decor, ambiance and service all good.
Service, Food and Atmosphere are all exceptional. Harbor view out of most tables adds to a truly sublime dining experience. This part of town that has many great options for dining and Louie's is second fiddle to none. My starter was a simple spaghetti cacio e pepe. A simple light dish with loads of flavor. My entree was a veal chop moist and tender just as it should be. Service timing and table contact could not have been better. A superior experience. Enjoy-
Went to the restaurant with another couple for our anniversaries. Service was not that great as our waiter seemed to be busy with too many other tables. Food was very good. Biggest disappointment was valet service. They charge $7 for 3-1/2 hours. We finished at 3 hrs and 40 min. One of us was charged an extra dollar per their rates and the other was charged and extra 2 dollars for the same time. A little nit picky we thought.
Fantastic as usual & loved the fresh halibut ! We brought friends who had not been yet & they loved Louie's too!
The beet salad was wonderful and enough for 2. The grilled octopus salad was creative. We shared the Florentine Porterhouse Steak for 2. It was tender and tasty.
Wonderful restaurant, great service, great food, however we ordered sides for the table of 4 and received such a small portion it barely served 2 but the price was extremely high. The restaurant is very pricey. We enjoyed our evening there until we received the bill.
The staff and very courteous and helpful. The food and ambiance are excellent! Definitely would go back again for brunch!
Very happening place. Fantastic location with large window view of Newport Bay. Service staff well trained. Food excellent.
We enjoyed the dinner with our friends and will be back for more!
Very overpriced and horribly noisy. My salmon was dry and other food just average. Truffle fries were ok. Beautiful view and our waiter was fantastic. Expensive valet parking. Won’t go back.
Food was average, small side portions- probably one and done, great views of the bay- but lots of places with much better food
This is a new fav of ours! We've been there twice and loved it both times!
Great steaks and outstanding pasta dishes...authentic pasta like cacia e pepe, an Italian version of mac and cheese, much less cheese, more flavor with a pepper accent. Lovely.
We had a nice table near the water. Every dish we ordered was amazing and I tried a new wine from Sicily that now I’ll have to visit the winery on my next trip to Italy. Our host, Piero, made us feel very welcomed. The service and ambiance are exceptional.
Over all, we had a nice evening there. We had asked for a window table thru Open table and we’re not granted that originally. We ended up waiting for a bit and then were sat at a very nice table. Service was excellent, and the food was very tasty as well.
Amazing everything!! Can’t say enough about our entire experience ♥️ From the girls at check in to Manuel at the bar to Kiani our server what a wonderful team! And thank you to the fantastic chefs! The food was fabulous! Our anniversary was complete! We will be back soon! We watched this restaurant be built and trust me it was worth the wait! Xoxo
The atmosphere was absolutely beautiful and the food and service was excellent cannot wait to go back
Loved everything about Louie and the wines were really amazing. I will definitely go back very soon.
This has become a new go to place for us. Management hands on and personal makes a difference. Wonderful variety of menu choices. Seafood and pasta are standouts, but no doubt the meat will be as well. Just haven't tried any yet.
Our waiter was very responsive, courteous and directed a Team of servers that provided an outstanding meal. The "special" zucchini blossom appetizer stuffed with cheese was unreal!! Nice table for two at the waters edge. Would strongly recommend for those wishing exceptionally prepared food, great service and a happy atmosphere. A must for dining in Orange County!!
Beautiful restaurant. Great view. Service was excellent. Sommelier picked out a great bottle of Italian wine that was reasonably priced. But I think they still have some work to do to dial in the food. For the price, the quality should be better. I will say the pasta dish we had was good. The King Salmon though was a little dry and boring.
Loved the restaurant. We had lasagna which was good not great. Everything else was fantastic and we will order differently next time.
Piero is the best.
Everything was excellent! Can’t wait to go back!
Cocktail was weak.... My dinner arrived just as my wife was finishing hers.
The view is great but as others had commented the service was terrible. Jessica was our server and she seemed irritated and aloof. We had to ask for drink refills and remind her when they weren’t filled. There was a bus woman who was engaging and funny. Five stars for her. Overall $200+ per couple doesn’t warrant a return.
Piero sat us at a wonderful window table (it was raining). Quiet - at the end near the fireplace.
Our server, Glenn did a great job. We ordered "by course" with no problem.
Our busboy, (name unknown) took the initiative and split the Chilean Sea Bass entree for my wife and our guest.
Each dining experience has been great!
Food and service were good. A restaurant on the water worth going to.
ambiance was great. very up-to-date interior and felt very comfortable. Main room a little larger than i thought, and not as intimate as is would like for high end Italian steakhouse. Felt cramped with too many tables. Food was terrific and service outstanding.
Beautiful restaurant & nice setting on the bay. No bar service for 45 minutes while waiting for our reservation. Once we did sit down at our table the service was excellent. The food was good but very overpriced. I won’t be returning.
Very nice restaurant. The food was excellent and the furnishings warm and inviting. Our waiter was especially attentive and because it was a birthday dinner, they added an extra level of care that was appreciated by our visiting guests.
Overpriced and extremely disappointing. They consider themselves an Italian steakhouse but the Italian dishes were bland. Lasagna was recommended by the server—dry and tasteless sauce. Similar sauce on chicken parm and gnocchi. Meh. Chopped salad was the best of all but overpriced at 18. They eventually plan to charge $4 for bread. Corkage is $30 with a poorly written message discouraging you to bring your own (photo).
We went for brunch. Very limited selection of food which was served lukewarm at best and the fish was not fresh.
I did like the restaurant and the staff and management were very kind, but it somehow missed the mark. We went for brunch and it was Mother's Day, however they were not busy, they had open tables and there was no one on line waiting for a seat. I thought the food was OK, nothing exceptional, but good. The drink list was great, nice traditional Italian Cafe favorites. The food took a long time and the manager did apologize, My wife had "eggs in purgatory", which had a ton of sauce and no bread, bread is part of it. My Eggs Benedict were nothing special, but good. Primarily, we saw a lot of our waiter hanging out at the bar, addressing a table next to ours, several times and then darting away. A simple "is everything ok?" would have been lovely. Even our empty glasses didn't seem to provide a clue.
I loved the interior, the seating was a little crowded. I don't think I'll be back, and if I do return, I'll sit at the bar.
