Excellent! I’ll be back, try the corn and make sure you leave room for dessert
I was glad to see they had several gluten free options. The breakfast bread was delicious!
The food was absolutely perfect, the ambiance is so pleasant and our waiter was so pleasant. The food took a while but we will absolutely be back very very soon!!!
Out of the way spot with delicious food - we loved it!
Portions felt a little smaller than they should, however, everything was delicious. While the service was great, the food took too long to come out. I don't mind waiting on a coursed menu, however, the charcuterie board should have been out maybe 10 minutes earlier than it was.
Overbooked, crowded and overrated and out of the way. We had to wait over an hour and a half for our breakfast sandwiches to come out. We asked the waiter why it took our food so long, he said because they have a small kitchen. And the doughnuts we were looking forward to having - they run out of very early. When making a reservation with this restaurant, they have a caveat that they will keep your table for only up to 10 minutes. With the long wait we had to endure, you would think they’d give us a complimentary dish or drink to make up for the delay.
We don’t think Lou is ready for prime time. We were very disappointed.
It would be nice take a few measures to reduce the noise...there are so many hard surfaces that when the place is full, it's deafening. Everything else is amazing!
The renovation on the space is great. We found the menu to be interesting (though very small selection so check it in advance to be sure you will eat something) and the quality of the food excellent. The service was good but way to fast and almost too attentive. The waiter literally stood there while we read the menu instead of giving us time. I felt rushed (maybe because the space is small), like there was a priority to turn the table. My 2 top literally turned over in 40 minutes with wine and dinner. For the price I paid I feel the total "experience" lacked a bit.
Hello Birdie, Thank you for your feedback. Happy to hear that you enjoyed the cuisine! Our space is small and our servers are very present, because they want you to cared for, but I apologize if this attention made you feel rushed! I will be sure to discuss this with my team, because it is our goal for our guests to feel at home, enjoying good conversation and good wine, in European tradition, for as long as you wish. We hope you will try us again soon!
The menu was really exciting however the execution was disappointing.
Thank you for the feedback. Im sorry to hear you were unhappy with the execution of the cuisine. As a new restaurant we have dealt with some turnover in the kitchen and are working to get our team all up to our standards. We hope you will consider giving us another chance to impress you sometime soon!
I would sit outside where it’s quiet next time, but I won’t blame the restaurant for the people having a loud great time. Thanks for giving me some French ambience and well done food :) my grandpa usually is a difficult one but he even enjoyed himself, so thanks for that! You guys rock and I will be back for more
Appreciate your review, it gave me a good chuckle! So happy you enjoyed your experience! We are working on finding a technique to dampen noise in this very unique space. We hope you will be back soon (with or without Granpa)!
We enjoyed the food. The room is loud. The food took at least one hour to come out for a group of six. Our server was attentive and explained sold out items, and the dishes well.
Very unusual food combinations , small portions but priced high. The food was good , the service slow but our waitress did apologize. I doubt we would go back.
Fantastic food and natural wine chosen with care. Couldn’t recommend it any higher.
While the food and atmosphere were good, Lou seems to be working out the kinks of a new restaurant. The service was poor - we sat for a while without water, then for a long time before we even were asked for a drink order. Our server poured our glasses of wine at the table, and the pour was barely 3 ounces. I understand that wine pours at restaurants are smaller, but I've never experienced a smaller glass of wine pour while dining out. We would have ordered another glass, but chose not to because of this. Additionally, we ordered a bunch of small plates to share, and nothing was paced out. Everything was brought out at the same time, and our table barely had room for all of the plates. As a former server, I know how important this is and was surprised they didn't even make an attempt to pace the plates. Service was slow throughout the meal and several other patrons looked like they were waiting for a long time as well.
I hope it improves, because the food was really good.
Service was very slow. Waited 30min before food came out. Not a child friendly place either However, server was very nice..
Wondering how come I didn’t get my points for this reservation
What a little gem - nestled in a vintage house. Treat yourself to the crispy rice (I added flank steak, will try salmon next time). It was excellent, a great blending of flavors. Party of four and we were all super pleased with our selections!
Apple tart was the best I’ve ever had. Wines were spectacular. Just a true gem.
What an amazing addition to the growing Nashville food scene.
Can’t wait to go back!
Campbell, our server, agreed to a little 'game' we presented him with during our first visit to Lou; select all food and drink for us, and time it as you would if you were eating this meal.
Thank you so so much for existing, for honoring and redoing a residential building, for creating a beautiful space and for hiring good people and making excellent food.
Three things I would change about our experience, that I hope is helpful feedback: (1) the table where we were seated was *right* over an AC vent, so I had frigid air blowing on me all night. We scooted the table about 6" away from the vent, but I was still in the pathway. There's got to be some solution that allows for airflow while not directing all cooling to one person's legs. :) (2) the space itself was so loud we had to make an effort to hear each other over our very small table. I'm not sure if this looks like installing sound barriers, pulling in more textiles for your walls or windows or underneath tables, or another solution, but the sound level contributed a challenge to our meal. (3) when we first sat down, our table was incredibly wobbly to the point where our silverware/napkins were falling off. I quickly realized the tabletop had become un-screwed from its base, so we together gave the table two FULL 360-degree rotations to screw it back on. This feels like something a host or server might want to check in between tables, to avoid spillage, drunken injury...or something else catastrophic. Thank you so so much for the experience, and for reading this ridiculous submission of feedback- I can't wait to come back!
Staff, food, vibe was absolutely incredible. We wish we lived in Nashville so we could make lou a regular spot of ours.
This restaurant was super cute! The wine was delicious and the service was outstanding. Because it's a smaller spot, the noise level was a bit high, but it kind of added to the vibe. My only wish, was that the charcuterie was a bigger portion.
The waitress we had for dinner at Lou wasn't very friendly. She seemed annoyed about answering questions about the menu. I had to ask for the candle to be lit at our table (all the other tables had the candle).
The food was really great, but there just wasn't much of it. The price is extremely high for the amount that you get.
The little house was very cute, but not sure if I would return based on the total value of the dinner experience/menu.
Solid food and exceptional service! Great for wine lovers who like to experiment with unique wines. Our server was very knowledgeable and listened to our likes and dislikes. She made really great recommendations!
Lou is officially my favorite restaurant in Nashville. It was so charming and the food was unbelievable.
Very excited for Lou to join the neighborhood restaurants.
Add fans to provide air circulation
Add sound dampening
Thank you so much and we appreciate the feedback!
Parking is tricky. Food is fabulous. It is LOUD.
The food is inventive and the wine selection is good. The location and ambience is very quaint. However, they haven’t quite figured out the operations of a restaurant quite yet. The food came out at different times. Apps, plates, side dishes, etc. The staff seemed disheveled at times, if not frustrated that they were busy. The plates and servings were very small, indicative of a French style menu, but they were very tasty. The flank steak was tough and over cooked. I was hoping for at least a 4 star experience based on our $225 tab, but I’ve had much better food and experience for much less. This could be a great place, hopefully they will get the operations figured out and make the experience more “special” considering the prices they are charging.
A true neighborhood bistro that is a wonderful combination of Venice CA and Paris (where the owner and Chef is from). Our dinner was delicious. The salads, vegetables, the lamb ribs, all fantastic. We took the owners recommendation on a bottle of natural white wine and we were not disappointed. Dont sleep on this place.
I had friends coming from out of town and I wanted to try a new and unique restaurant. We enjoyed our attentive and knowledgeable server. Our dishes were delicious. It’s a small house so it was loud. Our server was kind enough to turn down the music which helped the noise level.
Great experience at Lou. Husband & I popped in for a late night dinner and loved it. Shared various small plates, which were all delicious. Absolutely loved the house red wine - 1/2 carafe $20.
Would love to visit again
What a gem has come to East Nashville!! Everything about our experience at Lou was fabulous. The food is inventive, bright, fresh and delicious. Wine pairings were interesting and reasonabley pricedThe house is charming and the staff are efficient and friendly. Can't wait until the get the patio open for the nice fall weather coming.
lou is one of the best new restaurants to open in Nashville in the last five years.
Passionate food and beverages served by a passionate and well-informed staff with prices targeted to their neighborhood. I hope we'll be able to get in next time!
Excellent new restaurant! We went for brunch and the food was delicious. Unique menu, great service and ambiance. Will definitely be back!
Noise level was VERY hight and our meal was VERY delayed. We saw two parties seated after us receive their meals (one even paid and left while we waited). But while our food didn't arrive until 40 minutes after we ordered, server Mary was wonderful, and even brought a complementary starter. Her attitude and the tasty meal were both the biggest reasons I'll be back, and will recommend lou to my friends...even with the decibel level. ;-)
Thank you so much for the feedback! We love Mary too ;)! We are a small kitchen and therefore it is a challenge to move a quickly as our dining room demands while ensuring the quality remains up to our high standards. We are very happy you enjoyed your meal, even if it took a little longer! We are hoping to make some improvements and ensure all food arrives in a timely manner, and would love to have you back again soon!
Wonderful brunch experience at Lou. Friendly waitstaff made this place standout against other trendy Nashville spots that leave much hospitality to be desired. Delicious coffee and warm breakfast cake to share. Poached eggs and broccolini were a standout dish. A must-try!
Thank you so much for the review!
The food was very interesting and our server was super nice! The only thing is that the service was noticeably slow. They might still be working that out. We went for brunch and didn't order anything to share as an appetizer. We got our drinks after about 15 minutes and didn't get any food for about 35 min after ordering.
Thank you very much for the review! We are working to ensure everyone receives timely service! Unfortunately, with a small kitchen it is a challenge to do so because it is extremely important that the food is up to our high standards. We hope you will join us again soon and will find that things are moving a little bit quicker!
Our server was phenomenal (so hard to find in Nashville these days) and made our experience extra special. The food was divine! Perfectly timed. The young bartender was extremely talented and took great pride in his craft. What a well-run establishment! The hostess was wearing a vintage Harley Davidson T-shirt which threw me for a loop. I guess that just means I'm old:) We will be back for sure!
Thank you so much for your review! Our staff and kitchen appreciate the feedback- it's what makes it all worth it!
Great to see a new neighborhood spot pop up. The lamb ribs and crispy rice are a great combo. If the chocolate semifreddo is on the menu definitely get it; it’s decadent but delicious.
Some of our very favorite dishes as well! Thank you very much for joining us and cannot wait to have you back again soon!
A welcome addition to the Nashville dining scene. Well composed dishes that are innovative without being contrived. The natural wine focus is a much needed addition as well.
