Even though it’s unbearable covid with restrictions and all. They did a great job 👏. Making you feel safe, having great specials, the Mac n cheese was so incredible! Great service, company, and laughs great dinner to bring in the new year! CHEERs 🥂
We had a great dinner, service was fantastic and food was delicious. We will return and recommend it to others as well.
Just love this spot. Food can always be counted on. Staff goes up and and above. Favorite date night and or friend spot. Casual yet food is great!
Delicious food, generous portions, and friendly service. I highly recommend the seasonal salad with mixed greens, apples, pepitas, blue cheese and molasses viniagrette.
This is one of my favorite restaurants, and we visit on special occasions and if we are in the area. I decided not to get my favorite meal - shrimp and grits - and went with the special (filet and risotto). My dinner was very good. My husband had the same, but his was not as tender or cooked to perfection as mine. I'm going to stick with my favorite from now on - the steaks were an expensive foul (risotto was excellent, however). My son declared the LouLou Burger as the best hamburger he has eaten. My daughter ordered the crawfish etouffee, and was pleased. Dessert - we got bread pudding and the pretzel chocolate brownie with marshmallow, both were very good, but not mind blowing. Service was good, but a little slow. I expect that due to reduced capacity and staff. We will be going again.
Always good at Lou Lou’s
They always have great specials
Overall a really good choice. Great selection, tasty food. Worth the extra few miles.
One of our favorite places - the food is always good, service is outstanding and the noise level allows for good conversation.
Consistency in good food & service. A St. Matthews staple.
Great experience overall. The food was amazing and the service was great! Nice atmosphere for groups of friends or families. Love this place - highly recommend!
Service was great. Food was served quickly and hot. Lettuce wraps were delicious. Will be going back soon
Fat Tuesday. Tough to review. Food was good, service was very good under the very busy circumstances.
It isn't easy to find a nice restaurant for lunch in St. Matthews. I think the prices are a bit high at Lou Lou. I ate there on Fat Tuesday and the place was a zoo. However, our waitress was nice. My roasted carrots were sort of scrappy looking and they were cold. The beef on brioche bun was quite good. The waitress did what we asked, which was to serve the sauces and spicy condiments on the side. Why charge so much for drinks when you can get a Coke or coffee at McDonald's for $1?
I had made a reservation through you but it took forever for them to seat us then almost gave our booth to someone else. Seating staff not good. After that, waitress and food was great.
LouLou was great as always! Wedge salads, calzone, and Lou Lou pizza were all fantastic! Super way to start our weekend!
Amazing food. Great selection of variety to please anyone.
Service was great. Will re visit
We tried Lou Lou's for the first time this weekend. We were not disappointed. We ordered Blue Cheese Polenta as an appetizer, which was excellent. I ordered She Crab Soup, and didnt care that much for it. That was just me not being into the crab roe, though, not that the soup was bad to someone who likes that taste. We both got Shrimp and Grits that were beyond amazing!! We ended with a shared bread pudding that was plenty for 2 people. It was the best we've both ever had. We will definitely be back!
Great local eatery! Our sever was wonderful. We absolutely loved the LouLou pizza and really enjoyed the special hummus of the day (honey/golden raisin). Perfect place for a family dinner date, great kid menu options as well.
My wife and I have not been here in quite a while. It used to be one of our favorites but we had several less than good experiences. We decided to give it another chance and we're pleasantly surprised. Service was great. Food was fabulous.
Taylor gave exceptional service! This was my first dining experience there and I’m so glad I chose to go. The food and drink selection were so amazing. Return visits will definitely be within my future plans. Compliments to the Chef that prepared and served an unforgettably delicious meal. Thank you, Lou Lou. I look forward to coming back again!
So it smelled amazing, and it all looked amazing, but the food was just okay for us. My husband order the salmon with the mango jalapeno salsa and there was no jalapenos in the salsa. He said the salmon was excellent though. I ordered the crab cakes. So mine actually fell off the plate on the way out so they brought my salad out so I could eat while my husband was eating his food. The spinach with feta salad was good, just a lot of dressing. Once I got my crab cakes they were not very hot, which I felt they should have been for being freshly made, and actually in the middle they were very very cold. We ordered the Valentine dessert as well. It was beautifully presented. The truffle was excellent! The atmosphere of the whole restaurant though was amazing! I loved that!
We went on valentines day and had a great experience! The service snd food were outstanding and they gave all of the ladies a long stem rose.
Valentine’s Day
Food is delicious but the chicken wings appetizer omg extremely good, I had the salmon and really love it, the meatball sandwich was good as well. Service was on point. I will totally recommend this local restaurant.
Neighborhood gem for those who want consistent quality and good service.
Hubs & son enjoyed a night out! Hubs had jambalaya & loved it. Son had the gumbo & really liked it. Hard to find good Cajun food in this area. Bread pudding for dessert topped it off!! Will return
Highly recommend this place. We will be back!!
The food is always good. Love the meatball sandwich. The service is great too
The most consistent restaurant in Louisville! We loved our wedge salads and pizzas (Chong and Lou Lou 10 inch). Great way to start the weekend!
Delicious!
My favorite at Lou Lou's is lasagna, and I have never been disappointed in the food. The service is always outstanding, too. I shall return soon. :)
One of my most favorite places to eat. Food is always fresh, hot, and outstanding. Service is fast and very attentive. I took a party of five there last night and they raved about their food, and said they would definitely be back, and said they were telling and suggesting it to their friends. They were very impressed with both the food and service
Tom was our server. He did a great job, only there when needed and made some great suggestions. Shrimp and grits were an excellent appetizer. All in all I would recommend Lou Lou’s. We will be going back for sure
I found the food to be average and overpriced, overall. I was up-charged to sub a vegetable, which was disappointing. I had salmon and it certainly wasn't worth the total price for the meal. The restaurant decor doesn't have a theme (it's not decorated well) and it's very blah. We had a reservation. We were seated quickly and they served our food expediently, which I liked and appreciated. Other meals I am told, were evidently good (shrimp n grits). My # 1 issue is with the employees' appearance and hygiene. Last night I observed a male employee with long hair and a long beard (wearing black gym pants, t shirt, and tennis shoes) going in and out of the kitchen serving food, numerous times, no hair or beard net. Some employees had on t shirts and jeans. Several employees had unclean/unkempt appearances. It was impossible to tell what the dress code actually was. For a $30 per plate meal, I don't want my food being carried or made by someone in gym clothes with no beard net.
The pasta primavera was great. The salad was cold & crisp. The artichoke pizza was wonderful. The bread pudding was out of this world!
Went for mid afternoon meal on NYE! Wanted to beat the rush! I had the pasta carbonara-it was delicious! Hubs had the bayou trio of gumbo/jambalaya & crawfish etouffee It was served with dirty rice, which I don’t normally like but the rice had good flavor. I was looking forward most to trying the gumbo (hard to find good New Orleans style in this area) After adding hot sauce & little salt it was good but not great. The etouffee was good but the jambalaya was great!! Flavors were perfect! We had the bread pudding for dessert-yum yum! Will go back again!
Atmosphere is nice. Ownership accommodating. Food was average and overpriced.
Went for the Low Country Boil. The tub of shrimp had maybe 3 dozen shrimp, a ton of potatoes, a few mushrooms and a few 1-1.5 inch pieces of corn. The “gumbo” was a thick, sticky steam pan of mostly rice. The etoufee was at least marginal. The only thing going for it was the beer menu.
Not super busy at the time I dined. Service good and food good. Glad we didn’t have to talk loud to converse for a change. Will return soon.
