Lou Lou Food + Drink - St Matthews
Quaint restaurant, amazing and attentive staff, excellent food. We will certainly return.
Our spinach artichoke pizza was outstanding. Our salads were cold and crisp.
For my liking, a little pricey and food was seasoned heavily.
Good food, but lunch portion was way too big. Service was good and food was tasty...just needs to be a smaller portion.
This was our first visit to Lou Lou and my wife and myself were completely satisfied. John the bartender/server answered all questions and we took a couple of his suggestios and he was spot on.
The food was good, no complaints at all ,drinks were good. I even met an old friend as I was leaving. I will be back and I will recommend to friends.
I hadn’t been to Lou Lou in a while. I clearly need to shorten my time between visits. The food was fantastic, and the menu made it hard for me to pick my entree (I went with the Hot Brown, which was a delicious rendition of the dish, pretty classic in presentation and very well executed). Cocktails were very good as well. Service was courteous and appropriately attentive (not lurking there every two seconds, but we didn’t wait for refills or sit around waiting to order). Crowd was moderate, noise level was fine (it was easy to have a conversation). Great spot.
The food was just OK, not nearly as good as it has been on previous visits. The noise level made it almost impossible to hear others across the table and the restaurant was only about half full at the time. The service was excellent. We will definitely be going back and hopefully the food will improve.
Great service and food was amazing!
We went for lunch and the food was really good. Nice variety on the menu
Best shrimp and grits I’ve ever had. Also, the bread pudding is awesome.
our sandwiches were outstanding.
Lou Lou was great as usual! We love their wedge salads. My husband had the small (which was anything but) pasta carbonara and raved about it! I had the Lou Lou pizza and it was superb - crust was perfectly cooked and the topping flavors were outstanding. Our waiter Tom did a super job checking on us and refilling or water/soda glasses.
The food was relatively good, but it's the little things that count as well. The table was not entirely clean, the front entrance has two empty magazine racks, one of which has trash piled up on it (empty drink cups, etc).
Always a great meal with friendly service at Lou Lou -- today was no exception. I had the wedge salad which was fantastic - great dressing and tons of bacon pieces to complement the iceberg wedge. My niece had the gyro and Cajun crisps and raved about both. A great way to start the weekend!
Food was not good and several other tables were sending food back. Over priced food and drink. We won’t be going back.
My husband’s Chicken Marsala Bow tie pasta was bland and he hardly ate it. Spaghetti & Meatballs was just ok. My Chicken Carbonara was pretty good. The Jambalaya was good.
It was very hot in the place and lots of flies. Will not go back.
Fantastic food. Prices and values are great. Awesome service. Perfect gem in St. Matt’s.
This was our 1st visit and we will return. The food was excellent. We had the crab cake appetizer and is was delicious as well as the crab soup. For entrees we had shrimp and grits and halibut special, both delicious. For desert do not pass up the toasted marshmallow brownie dessert. It was the perfect sweet salty combination. Our service was outstanding! The atmosphere is very casual and relaxed.
The food, service, and value were excellent. We really appreciated how quickly our group of 10 was served (we had prior reservations and they were set up and waiting for us, which was great!). Everyone's dishes were perfect and exactly what we were looking for. This was a restaurant I'd highly recommend to anyone visiting Louisville.
our salads were crisp and cold; the spinach artichoke pizza was wonderful! if only they would bring back the smoked salmon pizza!
Always excellent food & service!
Good food, good service, reasonable prices
Lou Lou Food & Drink is the best spot for casual dining along with one of the Best Chef's in the industry. Go today and check it out!
Great food. Good service. We went for the third annual crawfish boil. Our reservations were ready on time! I would reccomend reservations for this event if you don't want to end up sitting on the curb like some patrons did. The buffet is self serve and well worth the price! Our server was okay. We literally had to ask for everything piece by piece i.e. silverware, napkins, plates for the buffet. He was great at keeping our drinks filled tho! Lol I would recommend this event and venue and we'll definitely go back!
We were there for crawfish. It was excellent and cooked like it should be. Very very good! I sampled the gumbo, red beans & rice & jambalaya but didn’t like the taste of any of the 3. Certainly was Cajun recipes like the crawfish. This was my first time there. Hope you have the crawfish boil again!!
This was our first time here. My wife had linguini and meatballs and I had pasta carbonara. Both meals were excellent. We decided to return again Sunday for a calzone which was also excellent. We will definitely be back. Good food, fair price and good service.
For the price point, dinner at Lou Lou can’t be beaten, especially for families. We absolutely love it. The corvina fish special was particularly excellent.
The burgers are a little expensive, but they are LARGE and TASTY. Maybe the best in town. Our salads were crisp and fresh.
Nice casual restaurant with good food that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. You can actually have a conversation and hear the other person.
Service (by Miles) was exceptional. Shrimp and grits were excellent, while the etoufee was so-so. Nicely varied menu with something for everyone.
Pasta was great. Hamburger delicious! Lentil soup also very good.
My son & I ate there on Mother’s Day, and although they were busy, service was good , not rushed, and everything was very good! Love their menu offerings, I always want more than one thing . I had the scallops special , and he had red beans & rice. Yum!!
Very flavorful dishes and outstanding, attentive service. You can definitely tell the difference in restaurants with outstanding waitstaff and a very professional back-of-house operation.
Great service and great food! Even my kids enjoyed their food.
THEY WERE CLOSED. 🤬
We went there with friends in town for the Derby and they loved Lou Lou. Every dish was really good and it is a fun place to eat. Our server was great and our lunch and later in the week dinner were both a wonderful experience. If you are looking for a fun and interesting place with exceptionally good food then you should try Lou Lou. My husband says the shrimp and grits are the best in the south.
Do not pass up the bread pudding, for sure the best in all of Kentucky.
The service was very good. The waiter our server, was very pleasant and attentive. I had not been there for a while, so it was a nice experience. I would definitely go back
We really enjoyed our meal. Waiter was awesome and his recommendations were spot on! I lenjoyed this restaurant and plan on going back tomorrow for lunch.
Service was great. I had the shrimp and grits and was told that people drive from all around for them. It was good but I have had much better. My wife had the scallops special and it was really good. Located in a strip center so nothing special about the location or atmosphere. Solid but not special.
Pizza was good, was very busy and a little noisy but it was Derby weekend. Able to get a last minute reservation, seated right away and service was good. Good wine list, server was courteous and very helpful on helping us decide what and how much to order. Prices seemed reasonable.
