Overall pretty good experience. They seemed understaffed (like most places right now so we were pretty understanding), but it's hard to be patient when the staff is constantly behind and undertrained. Food was decent, but overall probably wouldn't go back for brunch.
Everyone seemed discombobulated when we got there but we were finally seated. Staff was great when they were around which wasn’t often. Food was excellent. Toward the end of our meal they turned the television on really loudly which was not good so we hurried up and left. There was AC inside which was excellent.
Food was very good. Only downfall was the slow service. Felt like it took forever to get our first round of drinks and for our food to eventually come out.
Mediocre food, rushed service, really nothing to write home about.
Cool ambiance inside. Restaurant week menu was good.
I use to go to lou birds and it was a bit more classy of a feel then when I recently went. The food was pretty good but I don’t think I would recommend or go back.
Our Reservation was for 6:30. My friend and I were catching up in the beginning of dinner, but then finally realized no waiter had checked in with us. We began trying to flag waiters down, finally got one guy's attention and finally put a drink order in around 7:10 (Yes 40 minutes later!) We put our food in at the same time hoping it would come out fast since we had already waited so long. A different waitress came up to us and explained to us it was supposed to be her table and not the guy we flagged down. How was that our fault? We don't need to be involved in your restaurant politics we just want to be served. At that point we were ready for another drink. We put in 2 of their passionfruit mojitos with the new waitress. She comes back with a Paloma and Plain Mojito? At that point we didn't even have the energy to fight her and honestly hoped it was a mix up and they would end up being free. Then our food came out. They brought my friends Salmon, but brought me a lobster roll when I had ordered Chicken Milanese. Instead of at least leaving the salmon when I told them the mistake, they took them both back and we then had to wait another 15 minutes for the correct food to come out. A manager or someone came up and apologized that they had missed us in the beginning but offered no form of compensation and honestly just kind of laughed and shrugged. When we got our check at the end not one thing was comped!!!! After all of that absolutely horrible service. She even charged us for 2 margaritas instead of the drinks we actually got. At that point it had been 2.5 hours and we just wanted to go home! Definitely don't recommend here. Maybe it is fine when there are no covid restrictions and it is just a night time bar. Definitely not a restaurant I would expect to be a part of Restaurant Week... They should not be allowed to participate next year.
Great vib, great service, great food!!
The noise level was high due to being outside. The food was excellent and the service friendly. We went during Philadelphia Restaurant Week but intended to return and sample their regular menu.
Service was abysmally slow. Food was pretty decent but definitely not worth the price. It took an hour for us to get our appetizers and we didn’t get our desserts until 2 hours into our dining experience. Ambiance was great though and the waitress was friendly. It was just the horribly slow service that makes it so I can’t recommend it.
The owner is very friendly and involved. We had a slight mix up, but he took good care of us after. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Nice spot near Rittenhouse Square; can seem myself returning next time I'm in the area.
Food was good when it arrived, but service was excruciatingly slow.
We ate outside and I am still not use to street noises - but everyone was friendly and made me feel welcomed
We had a lovely evening. We did not realize it was restaurant week which is a busy time for a restaurant
Very nice staff. Flavorful food. Hardworking folks. Enjoyed the dinner very much.
Sat for 35 minutes without having our order taken. Ended up walking out.
The food is tasty, but it takes forever to arrive!
The food is your classic elevated gastropub. The cocktails are fun, and the owner (Lou probably) served every table at least once. When we had an issue with our food (one of the sandwiches didn't have a good condiment), he was very receptive and grabbed us something tasty ASAP. Can't wait to come back for brunch!
Went for brunch. Chicken and waffles were simple but good. This place is more casual than I expected. Mimosa was huge, so that’s a plus. We were seated indoors, though, and there was no music playing and the room we were in was acting almost as a temporary storage room for the restaurant rather than a dining room. I know covid has totally turned some restaurants upside down, though. Seems like they’re reorganizing. Seems like a good place to grab a beer at the bar or a quick bite outside for a casual dinner.
The owner was amazing! He handled our long wait w grace. Then it went bad......we were given used cups they smelled of alcohol. The wait was long for food so we didn't bother to order drinks. Again....the owner was the saving grace. We will return to check it out again we believe in second chances.
As are all restaurants, Lou Birds was understaffed and we waited over an hour for our food. was just the 2 of us outdoors and it wasn't crowded.
The food was tasty. My daughter and I had the chicken and waffles. The chicken coating was perfect. I think the taste could've used a little more seasoning, but I still enjoyed the dish. I would definitely return to try something else on the menu!
The meal was outstanding, the staff friendly, efficient and professional and the ambiance inviting. A wonderful time was had by all.
Good food. Server was nice.
Enjoyed our dinner at Lou Bird's - the service was excellent, the food great, and the overall experience five stars!
The outdoor space was exactly what we were looking for: isolated for safety, but still felt social.
The service was good and we were helped by multiple staff members. It was obvious this location was popular due to the amount of filled tables. Perhaps adding more staff would help here as they seemed a bit overwhelmed. Everyone was very nice though, and we weren't in a rush.
The empanadas were fantastic. The crispy chicken sandwich was cooked perfectly (I don't recall cheese being on the menu, but it came on the sandwich - which was fine for me but should be advertised as such).
The gin martini special was VERY good. Unfortunately, there wasn't a published beer or wine list, and the drafts were down due to some technical difficulties with the piping.
A great local place. We'll be back again, hopefully to try the brunch.
It took about 20 minutes for our server to greet us and bring water. The hostess was on her cell phone the whole time. Our food came out at different times. An item was missing. The table next to us got up and left after waiting for 10 minutes and no one came over to their table. Perhaps it was an off day, but service was not what we were used to.
Great place for brunch with nice outdoor seating.
The food was amazing! I had the grilled salmon dish and chocolate cake for dessert. The staff was was also great and so nice.
We stopped in for a Monday night dinner and was not disappointed! We aren't from PA but after mentioning to someone that we wanted a nice steak and glass of wine, we were told this was the place to go. The steak was amazing! Great portion sizes and fantastic taste. Thank you for a wonderful dinner!!
The food was great, but the manager was not even wearing a mask. He would go up to tables and talk with customers while wearing no mask and rolled up all the silverware without one, too. There was only one waitress outside for over 10 tables, so it wasn’t really her fault, but the service was really slow. Manager seemed to be complaining the whole time when he had only waitress outside on a Saturday night in 70° weather. We had to ask her multiple times to come back and take our order
The host was very pleasant and seated us right away. Our waitress was very nice and attentive
I went there for brunch it was nice.
Food was fine. Slow to come out and slow service, but nice environment
Pros: waitress was friendly, food was tasty albeit overcooked (medium rare stake was served medium well). Happy ambience. Pleasant night temperature.
Cons: wine list was a choice of 3 reds, all described by the grape alone. Main course came out 10 mins after starters. A full tray of drinks was shattered on the sidewalk (accidents happen) but it took them 15 minutes to clear the glass. Pedestrians were walking through broken glass. Excuse? They said they were busy. The waitress who spilt the drinks just kept serving more drinks, ignoring the situation.
Perfect Bistro outdoor dining! We had a wonderful evening.
Great restaurant, great service, food and staff. Will be back!
Excellent bloody Mary. Rather limited brunch choices. Several items featured on menu posted on Open Table were absent—pea soup, turkey sandwich. Chicken tenders good, fries outstanding.
i love lou birds so much - food is good, ambiance is good
