I’ve been here before and the food was great. Food was kind of cold and mushy this time, which was surprising.
on the weekends the brunch menu is pretty limited and they serve brunch until 3 although the menu said only until 12. Dinner menu doesn't begin until 4PM. We sat down at 2:30 expecting to be able to order the non-brunch menu, but were told we couldnt until 3 so we ordered some drinks and put in our order to be placed in at 3 only to then be told that the kitchen was closing until 4. So we left with just having drinks. Overall strange.
Great brunch!
This place is fantastic! Family owned and operated. Just took our son there who moved to the neighborhood this week. They couldn’t have been nicer and more welcoming! Pot pies were so so delicious and filling! The chicken Milanese was one of the best ever! Such a great spot with outdoor dining and heaters for those chilly nights. Can’t wait to come back.
They have set up nice outdoor dining with heaters. The chicken taco appetizer was very good. Great homemade guacamole as well.
I would not recommend the tomato soup and grilled cheese. The soup was not well flavored and the grilled cheese was very dry and didn't have enough cheese.
My husband liked the white bean chili and chips and my nephew liked the crab cake sandwich special.
Our server was extremely attentive!
We had to wait for a table to open up so we were not sight right at the time of our reservation, but the manager was very apologetic and offered us a drink from the bar while we waited. However, once we were sat our waiter did not come back for almost 30 minutes to take our order and we had to flag him down to get his attention at all. Our appetizer came out with our entrees which was annoying but the food itself was very good. Then at the end of our dinner the waiter gave us the wrong check. Normally these little things wouldn’t bother me too much but the combination of everything didn’t make for the most pleasant experience. I will say the outdoor setup was very nice and we were able to stay warm the entire time with the heat lamps and space heaters.
Great food, friendly service. Can't wait to go again. Try the chicken pot pie!
Wonderful experience! Was given a blanket and had heaters on either side of me! The staff was so wonderful and really catered to us!
They’re doing everything they can to stay alive and serve the community. Good luck to all of you.
We had a pleasant brunch. The breakfast sandwich was surprisingly good and my husband enjoyed his pancakes. Our waitress was as sweet as could be and service was attentive and fast.
Nice outdoor setup. Very kind waitress and management. They treated me and my family, including one very picky eater, very well.
We had a party of six for my daughters birthday and everything was wonderful! They cleaned the table before we sat down and all employees wore masks. I felt very safe and the outside seating was great. We had several apps and the the chicken potpie was out of this world!! My daughter was lucky enough to move down the street a week ago and I am sure we will be back!
Chicken and waffles were delicious! But too many other vegetables mixed in with the breakfast potatoes.
Seated in street and very close to cars. Was a bit unnerving...but I get that they needed to utilize the space. Ordered fried chicken...my first order was this tiny piece and was cold. I didn’t want to bother the Server but then I looked around to others eating same dish and had it returned. The Server didn’t even acknowledge or apologize... and did seem bothered!
Second was hot but was dry and not flavorful.
Wont go back.
Great service and food was delicious. Cocktails were also very good and the out door set up is well done.
We went for the Oktoberfest dinner. The waitress was nice but didn’t know much about the beers or the menu. Not sure it was actually German food, probably should’ve known better. Recommend sticking with Brauhaus Schmitz for a true Oktoberfest experience.
Cozy atmosphere. Attentive staff. Good cocktails. Great place!!
Excellent service and attentive staff! They were very busy but I never felt rushed - very relaxing meal!
Food was pretty good- not sure we'd be back for more than just apps. Kayley was super attentive and she definitely made our experience! It was a busy Friday night and she really kept up with her tables.
While we were in no real hurry, it took an inordinate amount of time to get our appetizers. And when they did bring our entrees, they didn’t bring silverware so food was getting cold while we flagged someone down to bring. First person we asked didn’t bring it so had to ask someone else. I do t know if it was a bad night or...
Always great service and a lovely environment at Lou Birds. Unfortunately they have significantly changed their brunch menu and we were sorely disappointed- the selection is quite limited (all things I could have made myself at home), and the prices have gone up. I enjoy Lou Birds, but not as much now as at previous visits.
Loved sitting outside in such a nice neighborhood and the food quality was great; however, to have three of the six entree options be a lobster dish really shrunk the menu. Also, the waitress was not well versed on the wine selection but perhaps it’s more of a cocktail kind of place. The Pinot was still really good, thankfully.
Portions were smaller than expected, tasted fine, not exceptional
Great time! We loved the food and atmosphere!!
Outdoor brunch. Tables well spaced. Foot traffic minimal and not imposing. Staff very pleasant. Food excellent. Looking forward to next visit.
We enjoyed our brunch at Lou Bird's this weekend - our service was great and the drinks were delicious. Everyone enjoyed their food but we found the portions extremely small for the brunch prices. The men in the group needed a snack quickly afterwards because they weren't full. The weather was so nice, so the outside seating was enjoyable with a good mix of sun and shade.
Enjoyed the brussel sprouts - extremely filling, topped w/cheese & bacon - good combo. Could have given more spicy mayo aioli. Enjoyed the lobster roll. Admittedly the fries are better at Pub & Kitchen across the street. The chocolate cake was unimpressively dry.
Highly recommend! Myself and 4 friends dined at Lou Bird for restaurant week and we loved it. All of the dishes were super tasty and the staff was wonderful. Our server was super attentive and extremely patient as the 5 of us tried to decide on wine bottle picks.
Food is ok but portions are small for brunch. Also why are the mimosas $12 each?
While service in the beginning of the night was not what I cared for, throughout the night I did have an enjoyable experience and I absolutely love the food
It was outdoor dining. So noise level was sort of high. Also service wasn’t great in the midst of pandemic. Restaurant was busy. However lobster dinner was delicious. Enjoyed the vibrant environment!
We had a very nice evening, nice time, friendly service and good food. However, we were a little disgusted by the sticky tables. They need to do a better job wiping off whatever other guests or the environment left. After all this time is all about cleanliness and being safe, right? Other than that, we'll go back.
Great food and ambience outside, a neighborhood favorite
Great experience! The outdoor seating and overall COVID protections were great and the staff made it a great meal!
Very good lobster rolls. Table in a parking spot so noise variable, but nice to be outside on a nice day.
The brunch menu is just meh. Very basic and unimaginative. At full brunch price you can do better.
It’s unfortunate to have to write a bad review, but this restaurant just didn’t live up to the Rittenhouse name. We went for restaurant week (3 people) and understand that the quality may go down because of crowding but there were only two other parties at the time. Two of us order the short rib and one person had to leave half of his on the plate because it was so overcooked that he couldn’t cut through it. The polenta that came with both can best be described as gloopy, it seemed like those two dishes had been left under a heat lamp but we weren’t sure why that was necessary. I had the salmon over lentils and there just wasn’t enough flavor there. It had some sort of broth with it but it didn’t add to anything and made it seemed like the lentils were not properly drained and washed away any seasoning there was on the mixed vegetables. Adding in 2 glasses of wine per person (6 total) and very dry chocolate cake we were sad to walk away with a $100+ subpar meal.
Loved the atmosphere. The Brussel sprouts were delicious. The short ribs were tough and polenta didn't have much flavor. Cheesecake was supermarket quality. The staff was super friendly.
Went to Lou Bird’s for dinner on a Saturday night during Restaurant Week. We had three courses for $35. For appetizers, my wife had the heirloom tomato salad and I had the chowder - both were great. My wife had the chicken and I had the short rib and polenta. I tried her chicken and liked it. My short rib was a little tough - probably needed a little more cook time. The polenta was a little watery, but ok. Dessert was chocolate cake and cheesecake - both awesome. Drinks were good as well. Liked the service and the ambiance - nice little neighborhood place - we’ll be back.
Food is tasty, however, I was taken back by their policy "If you are picking from Restaurant Week menu, both parties MUST order it" -- My husband likes to explore other dishes offered.
