Before the James Beard Award and the Gourmet Magazine review, Lotus of Siam was a small little hole in the wall located in Commercial Center in Las Vegas. November 1999 was the month Chef Saipin and her husband Bill took over Lotus of Siam. Since then, Thai food became an adventure for those willing to step out of their comfort zones for Asian Cuisine. Chef Saipin’s distinct cooking has been passed down from generation to generation, from both her grandmothers and her husband’s grandmothers. Her northern style cooking has opened America into the “Northern” world of Thailand, away from the Bangkok style of sweet and tang. The northern menu consists of hearty herbs and spices, along with Thai style stews and coconut-less curries. Through her set menus, our guests can dine and enjoy recipes from over 100 years in the Chutima family.

The servers and staff are super knowledgeable about the food and menu and were able to make great recommendations for our party of four. We got the Pork Larb Salad and fried wontons to start. We followed that with chili basil lamb, pork pad see ew and chicken Penang curry. Everything was incredibly delicious. The sticky rice was great as a side. And the sweet sticky rice with mango sorbet was the perfect dessert.

I'm a huge fan and our server was very nice. But the food arrived all out of order (i.e. our tom kha soup was the fourth item that arrived) and also waited long stretches of time in between. After the first 2 dishes, it took another 10-15 minutes for the next 2 dishes and then some more time for the last 2. Also, we asked for some cucumber salad and it was never delivered. And the garlic prawns, for the first time, were really small this time around. Maybe midweek supply was low? But the taste was still great. Listen, I'm a huge fan and always will be. And the food always delivers! But this was the first experience where I didn't leave with the usual level of enthusiasm as in the past.

What happened to Lotus of Siam? Haven’t been here for several years… happy that they have expanded and are doing well… but food quality went down like crazy! Wow, so very disappointed… used to dream about having their garlic prawns, but after today’s dinner will not be visiting Lotus of Siam again… 3 prawns with just shells and no meat… and the shells just bunched up instead of retaining crisp individual shape and just greasy… Another restaurant with success destroying their food quality… 🤨

The food here was wonderful! Took my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner. The garlic prawns are so amazing and the Khao Soi ( curry and noodles) was wonderful with the crispy duck on top! Great place off the strip.

Great food, drinks and service. Garlic shrimp was fantastic. The cilantro scallops was fresh and delicious. The cocktails were very tasty.

The food was good but not excellent . The Crab Fried Rice tasty a little fishy . The Garlic Pepper Prawns were excellent and Penang curry was good . It took some time to get our meal after ordering and table next to us party of 4 arrived after us and finish their dinner before we even received ours. To be fair , the server did acknowledge our celebration of our anniversary and presented us with a complimentary mango sherbet with a candle .
