Lot Six Bar & Restaurant
Your food is great, but the amount of the food is far from expectation.
Very nice option either for "tapas" or full dinner. Good wine list.
I quite enjoyed my time at Lot 6. The oysters were well shucked and the bar was very skilled when I asked for a drink to be replicated. I would've liked to see a bit of a larger menu.
Always wanted to try this place next to The Carleton. Menu online looked decent although small. Didn’t know there is a glass ceiling atrium in the middle of the building (that you can only access by booking ahead, which we did). The atrium surprise would have been nice, but the whole night had a very weird vibe. The waiter was so flat and non-engaging: had zero personality. And for some reason 99% of the staff were male, and chip’n’dale looking, while 80% of the tables that night were big groups dolled-up women in the 35-45 demographic. The male staff ratio for the night may be because of the female dominant bookings, but it created a weird dynamic. I felt like I missed the memo for ladies night at a privately owned gentleman’s club. For Halifax, this place seemed much too pretentious, but maybe that’s how the city is evolving considering I haven’t lived there for the past 6 years. I may go back for their oyster special earlier in the day, but definitely not for dinner.
Great food for the price! Lovely atmosphere! A little loud when sitting by a speaker but pleasant overall. Will come again.
Went to try the oysters happy hour and was pleased with the options. Selections from all three Maritime provinces. Server was attentive and knowledgeable. Would definitely return.
Drink service was slow. Food lacked flavour. Pork chop was boring. On bright side cocktails were imaginative and tasty.
Took 15 minutes to get us seated... other than that everything was great!
I wasn’t expecting the zucchini cannelloni to be cold. I could only eat half of it
Food and atmosphere are outstanding. What puts Lot6 into the top tier is they have some of the best bartenders in the country. I am lucky to travel across Canada and I rate these bartenders among the very best. Reid and Will deliver great service with great passion and ultimately exceptionally crafted cocktails. Lot6 is a must stop whenever I am in Halifax.
Went last year it was great, went this year, not so much
Way too loud. Too expensive for what we were given; portions were small.
Always love the ambiance here! Drinks were very good; food was not as tasty as I would have liked and I didn’t feel there was good value for what we paid. Our table was quite close to the neighboring table, which meant that anyone passing by (server or diner) would rub against my chair/jacket.
I’d recommend Lot 6 for drinks and socializing primarily.
Ambience, fantastic, food however...well... I’m a curvy girl who enjoys food and I couldn’t eat mine. My husbands burger was pretty good though, he cut me off a piece. If I were to go again I’d probably stick to their drinks and a few appetizers. Best Cabernet Sauv I’ve had in a local restaurant. Service was nice.
We would only recommend your restaurant to a friend who eats meat. It would be great if you had more vegetarian/vegan options on your menu. There was only item on the menu (other than a green salad), that a vegetarian/vegan could order - cold zucchini cannelloni. That's what we ordered and it was good, but it would have been so much better warm. How about a quinoa/vegetable pilaf or a lentil bolognese on pasta ??? There are so many possibilities. We really liked your restaurant but won't be back unless we check the menu beforehand and see something that we can enjoy.
The food just isn’t that good. Cranberry tart is bad
We were there for burger week. My burger was raw. Our waitress never checked in. The more people that came in. The louder they put the music up. The louder the whole place became. We sat more than 20 mins after we finished eating. Watched our waitress serve, and clear the table beside us. Horrible over all experience.
Apps were good. Main - Cod was disappointing, thin, not fresh, over cooked. Duck - OK but the reduction was toffee like and harden to rock candy. Desert was good. Servers seemed confused and disinterested.
The food and service at Lot Six is fantastic! But the music, which then turned into a DJ (right beside our table) was really disappointing and spoiled our evening :( Far too loud to have conversation, and felt very out of character for a beautiful space. We left earlier than we would have – if we'd been able to 'actually chat'! Would very much recommend Lot Six if the music levels were reduced (and DJ removed)… but won't be going back until then unfortunately.
Great food, great service, can’t wait to come back! Love the ambience too!
I tsk my wife to Lot Six for her birthday, and we were not disappointed! She was really touched by the friendliness and knowledge of the staff, who care as much for the heritage (1760) building as they do for the food. We'll be back!
Loved everything about lot six, the bartender and waiter were very friendly and accommodating. It was my friend's 19th birthday and it was a great spot to invite all your friends and have a really good time.
We were very pleased with the service and the quality of the food. It was a bit noisy though. Large table behind us! They sounded very happy!
Good food but overpriced not very good value. Bought a $22 cheese plate which only had four pieces of cheese maybe half the size of a credit card of around 2mm of thickness. Great service though but would not return due to price and portion sizes
Delicious food and superb services. Just go, you will not be disappointed!
Fantastic dinner (the new menu is delicious), beautiful cocktails from bartender Cyle, bit noisy in the atrium once the DJ kicks in later in the evening (sit upstairs if you want a more intimate setting).
It was too loud couldn’t even hear the conversation at my own table. Everything else was really good but I won’t be back as a result of having to scream to be heard.
Great atmosphere and good food at great prices. Service wasn’t great. No record of our reservation and I got the distinct impression the greeter didn’t believe me when I said I booked online as she was cold in her offer to seat us in the bar. When I produced my booking confirmation she was annoyed. Our server was friendly but there was confusion about our order as well as who to pay and where. Enjoyed the food and atmosphere but was put off by the staff.
The restaurant was amazing! They accommodated my requests which really helped me surprise my date! Food was delicious and filling and the ambiance was perfect
It was overall very good but my reservation for Friday was lost. I then received email reminders about my Sunday reservation which of course was irrelevant. In the bar we were asked every few minutes if we wanted to order when we hadn't looked at the menus yet. Service was better upstairs at our table.
Swift service by friendly qualified staff, hot sexy young males. Great oysters selection.
Reserved over 2 wks in advance, were shown to a terrible table in a room without a single other patron yet were told we could not have any other table as they had all been reserved before us. They never checked, looked at the reservation list or asked when we had reserved. We left...will never go back. Pretentious and unfriendly.
Great overall experience. There’s really nothing quite like this place in Halifax.
I really like lot six but tonight the service was average our server was not very educated on menu items and got my Dads beer order wrong.
In terms of the food my wife and I both had the pork belly and my Dad had the fish we really enjoyed it.
My mother in law had a vegetarian item which she did not finish we later found out it tasted very bad and she did not enjoy it.
English is not her first language so and she did not want to kick up a fuss and send it back as she was meeting my dad for the first time.
I would suggest taking that vegan dish off the menu or changing it to so thing else
Our dinner was superb. The service was outstanding, food excellent, portions were surprisingly large. I asked for and received a table away from the crowd as it was a quiet family celebration.
My only issue was with the other occupied table in the room which was a couple meeting with the restaurant events coordinator to talk about a wedding reception. The coordinator was very loud and her lengthy discussion with the other couple made it difficult to carry on conversation.
I would definitely go back.
Had an absolutely phenomenal meal here for my sisters birthday! Everything we ordered was delicious, the drinks were amazing, and the staff was very helpful and informative. Would recommend this to anyone .
Lovely eve! Service not super speedy but we were in no rush. Drinks and food was delicious!
Great location, music and food, had a lovely time
It was our first wedding anniversary and we held our wedding reception at LotSix, so we were so excited to head back here to celebrate. When booking the reservation, we even noted it was our wedding anniversary and sadly ended up having the worst meal with the worst service.
We would have had better luck sitting at the bar. Our waitress was more dedicated and focused on fulfilling the role of ‘handy Man’ busting out a full tool kit to fix the rocking table next to us - which we are fairly certain resulted in her neglecting/ forgetting to put our order in all together. As several other tables that arrived 35 mins after us received their food first.
I’m sad to say the experience didn’t get any better when we received our food. My wife ordered the burger - which was ‘ok’ and I the ‘surf and turf’. The pork belly was charbroiled and hardly edible and the potatoes that came along with them was horrific. The two medium sized scallops that came with the dish were the only redeeming factor in the dish.
Needless to say, we skipped dessert and went to another restaurant.
I want to add that I while this review makes me seem like a whiny complainer, this is not my style to leave a horrible review - and I certainly have better things to do on the evening of our wedding anniversary - when this app asked for my opinion on the experience tonight, I couldn’t not contain it. And given that I called ahead, wrote into the restaurant that it was a very special milestone occasion and booked well in advance a table to celebrate this special day - and service/ food and experience was this bad. Then being asked if we wanted separate bills at the end of the dinner was the ‘cherry on top of the insult cake.’
My wife and I went here for our anniversary dinner. The ambience was fantastic, felt lively and interesting. The server, Courtney was friendly and attentive throughout. The menu prices were surprisingly inexpensive especially for the type of food. The food itself was ok to good. The chef really needs to focus on seasoning (salt). I felt bad asking for a salt shaker but once that was added to my duck and my wife's beef cheek, it was fantastic. Overall a great experience and will definitely be back
