We had to wait 20 min, and we had a reservation. Not too much of an issue... BUT... Our waitress said the first round was on the house.... well, it was on our bill... I didn’t want to say anything, but really... don’t say it’s on the house when it’s not.
Went during happy hour, which gave us a chance to try more of the food and enjoy the half priced drinks. Mainly stuck with the starters: brussel sprouts, cauliflower, and wings. We also split a burger, but that was super greasy. Overall, I'd say this is a great spot for happy hour!
We had a lovely date night. I suggest going during the week for their specials. We got a free bottle of Chardonnay with our entrees. We drank the entire thing!
The ambience is really cozy. It's small with exposed brick with views of 14th and U. I'd go back for another quiet night with bae.
Delicious food, great pricing and excellent service combine to make Lost Society a hidden gem on the U Street corridor. Tasha, our server made our night very enjoyable and the steaks and brussel sprouts were amazing. Dessert was also delicious, bread pudding with vanilla gelato! Happy hour is also a great deal, as is the Wednesday night wine promotion.
Really mix experience one dish had chicken that could not be more dry but the chicken burger was great. The cocktails not great but the server was awesome.
Our service was spectacular! We were celebrating my fiancé’s promotion and the greeted us with complimentary sparkling wine glasses. Also, the food was delicious. The steak was so juicy that I seemed like it melted in my mouth. Fantastic!! We will definitely be back!
I booked this reservation on OpenTable 45 minutes before we expected to arrive. 2 minutes before we were meant to sit down, Lost Society called me to CANCEL our reservation for 7. They said they did not have to room for us and we wouldn't be able to come. I pushed and they said they could accommodate in 1 hour. (Isn't this the point of making a reservation?!?) We arrived anyway because we were almost there and they barely cared, almost didn't apologize but could tell this was inexcusable. We ended up waiting more than an hour while seeing several large tables sit empty for almost our entire wait. They ended up comping us one round of drinks at the bar and 30% off our meal. The service at the table was sub-par and we didn't understand because the restaurant was not that busy.
We really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere on a Saturday night. Not sure it's the best place for an early date - it's a little loud. Each course was a bit rushed and drinks not rushed enough. Would have liked it if there was a little space between the salad course and the entree and if dinner drinks had arrived before the entree as well. Flavors were all fantastic!
Great food. Got in and out quickly so we could be on time for a show two blocks away at the Lincoln Theater.
Love Lost Society for Wine Wednesdays - great value and delicious food.
Food was good..........but SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE!!!
This was a great place for a date! Great energy, good food and excellent service.
food was great! the server we had was terrible he ignored our table all night. came to take order and check that's it.
Food, service, ambiance- outstanding! Music a little too hip hop but not overbearing. Will add Lost Society to our “go to” list.
Great food, good ambience, great service...would visit again
We met up with friends and had a great experience. The bartender and our server were highly engaged and provided recommendations without being too forward. We shared apps and entrees. Oysters were fantastic as were the Brussels sprouts. For dinner the salmon was the hit.
I have never been disappointed at Lost Society. This was my birthday dinner and they did not disappoint and even gave me a bottle of wine with dinner. Superb....
I think it's probably great as a bar. The food was perfectly fine -- not exceptional, but fine. We needed to send one dish back to be reheated. The service was friendly but largely absent -- and the restaurant was nearly empty. Too much competition in the area for lackluster service and food.
My friend was celebrating her birthday and everything thing was great.
Had a great meal, not inexpensive but good value for money and reasonable bottles. Great ambiance and was able to skip the long line to get to the upstairs bar.
First time there and most certainly will go back.
Fun nightclub with dining. Good service and food with a roof top bar.
The service was so bad the manager comped our meal. However, the food and ambiance was very nice.
Every time I eat here, I always get the Cajun filet mignon. It’s delicious and is always cooked to a perfect medium rare. Also, I don’t see this particular item on the menu at many other restaurants. Once, I did see it at another restaurant and was very excited. What a disappointment! The other restaurant simply put “Cajun seasonings” on the top of the filet. That is not how it’s done here. At Lost Society, the Cajun flavor is throughout the meat and adds flavor, as well as (not too much) heat.
This time, I decided to try the lamb chops because they looked delicious at a nearby table. There were at least 6 lamb chops in the serving and they were delicious. I’m not sure how they were seasoned, but there was a sweetness to them. I’m not a big fan of “sweet”, but I thought these were great and I would order them again. My only regret is that “medium rare” was not an option. However, the chops were moist and very tasty.
The optional sides are all good, but the mac n’ cheese is fantastic. The sides are meant to be shared, but I could eat this all by myself.
For dessert, the bread pudding is a must have. Lost Society is one of the few area restaurants that does this dessert very well.
The Happy Hour specials are great. Many of the drink and “small plate” menu items are half price.
Lost Society is one of those standards that may be starting to decline in quality because of a "people will come anyway" attitude. The food was okay, but this visit, the issue was service. Our server was either new or not mentally present for the day...
Menu in restaurant doesn't match menu on open table. Also no bottomless brunch drinks
Lost Society is on a regular rotation for us ... typically a "date night" without the daughter. The restaurant is simply great: great atmosphere, great food, and attentive staff. The only criticism that I would have is the wine list: it's lacking ... OK, if you're a wino, t's actually kind'a crappy. Nothing more than about $40 and acceptable wine but if you're spending $50 on a dry-aged steak do you really want to eat it with a supermarket wine? Got your own wine ... perfect ...Lost Society accepts BYOWine and charges a $25 corkage. Good excuses open-up a grand cru class Bordeaux from your own cellar. (If you're a mixed drink person ... you'll be happy at Lost Society: they get creative.)
Arrived and headed upstairs. We had a reservation and was seated quickly. The brought over chips and took our drink orders. The wedge salad was great (love the little slabs of bacon in it!!). I had the fork and knife burger sans a bun & it was delish. A colleague raved about their mussels and side of sweet corn.
It was a little loud and Infoudn myself leaning in to her the conversation at our table of three. Our waitress was fabulous and super attentive.
All in All - solid food and trendy decor made for a good dinner
Love Lost Society and go frequently... recommend it highly!
Great Steak options. I had the wagyu skirt steak, and it was amazing--served with the best chimichurri sauce. They don't serve anything above medium rare, which I love. Everyone was a big fan of the Brussel Sprouts appetizer. Service was attentive. They do take a limited amount of checks, but that is pretty standard these days but makes it a little more difficult for a bigger group. Affordable wine selection. I wouldn't recommend the BLT (Unless you are strict paleo) because they serve it with parsley, a thick slab of Canadian style bacon and no bread. My friends enjoyed their salads.
The menu has changed since my last visit, but the food and the service continue to be great. Most importantly, my favorite items are still available: the Cajun filet Mignon, the mac n' cheese, and the bread pudding.
I highly recommend this place.
Great spot right on U street. The food is also on point as well as the service. Dress code is enforced at the door.
A great time and a great happy hour deal. Everyone liked their food and drinks
Absolutely amazing food!!! The dry aged ribeyes was tender and flavorful. The gnocchi was out of this world as well as the house made ricotta.
The ambiance was cool but the food was overrated. It was average for the price.
The food and the happy hour menu is pretty good and definitely value for money. Would definitely recommend the Mac n cheese and the cheesesteak egg rolls.
We opted for rooftop seating for our dinner reservation but it turned out that there was a large group that got bigger by the minute having cocktails there. We were not advised when we asked about seating that they would be there and it was extremely loud, crowded and people kept putting glasses and their dirty dishes where we were eating. Had we known that this group would have been there we would have opted to sit downstairs instead even though it was a lovely day and we got there just as they opened to ensure we could sit outside.
Make sure to ask if there are any groups being hosted before you are seated.
Many of my friends have recommended and even performed here on Rooftop Sundays bottomless mimosas brunch. The creative menu is authentic. Took a while Sat.nite to get manager's assistance since it's very busy weekends/DJ nites, to get wheelchair access elevator up, but all door staff were accommodating. Bartend didn't hear me, since its fairly loud/music playing, and I didn't get a menu until kitchen almost closed 1130p. The huge portion of sheshido peppers were lil too oily for me, didn't see the mayo sauce til I got to bottom of its bowl(drizzled would have made it better). They gave me complementary salad when asked for my pork belly or bacon mushroom sandwich canserved on lettuce instead of gluten/bread. It was overdrenched in dressing, and management comped it. Overall flavors were good, seasoning fairly balanced; however I had to wait long to get their attention for my beverage and refills. Pork belly was unexpectedly more ham than what gastronomy considers bacon or belly. Portions were good and filling. Bar closest to elevator wasn't as busy so my glass could've been filled. Service needs some improvement. Thanks to the only manager on duty to show up just as I was about to text him. Club security staff was accommodating and helpful. It wasn't as fantastic as it can be.
We were headed out to Lincoln Theater and this is a perfect stop! My husband and i were doing Whole30 and the waiter was great about helping us keep with it even while dining out - we had the filet and skirt steak. both excellent choices!
Awesome dining experience! Food and drinks were anazing and our waitress Sai was phenomenal.
Really enjoyed dining at Lost Society for a friend's birthday who was visiting from out-of-town. This was my first time for dinner, and enjoyed the dining level floor (as I had only been to the rooftop before for drinks and brunch). We had drinks that were very well made, loved the ambiance and couch like seating at our dining table for 6, and had exceptional service from our waiter, Reese. Not to mention, it was nice to have the manager check up on our experience (that's rare to see these days). I loved the broiled oysters, stuffed lobster, and the mac and cheese. Everything was incredibly yummy and I would definitely return.
