We do not take reservations for lunch. Walk-in only.
Overall, pretty good. Great oysters and appetizers. They also have house wine by the carafe, which we really appreciated. The entrees were ok, but nothing special. We got the market fish, which was well cooked, but kind of boring, and the scallop gnocchi, which was quite bland. The scallops were also not seared at all, so they were pretty plain. It’s cool that they have the option of a prix fixe menu, which my boyfriend ordered. This came with a dessert, which was pretty yummy. One thing to be aware of is that they were out of a lot of things, even though they have a tiny menu. It was 8 pm on a Friday, so this was pretty odd. Overall, would come back, but would probably just get wine and apps.
Loved this place up until tonight but, damn, did they ever end things sad 😒
This restaurant is absolutely amazing!! The food, the ambiance, and the service are just perfect! Can't believe this place is closing out. so sad. Glad to made it on their last day!
The food was delicious. The best I had in sometime. Service was good but the place was not crowded. Nice casual environment for laid back Angelinos. A bit expensive but I would pay again for the quality of the food.
Dissapointed with food and service.
We went at 7:30 during a weeknight and the place was totally empty except for two couples. The waiter was not well-informed about the dishes and was not very attentive. He never came to ask how our food was or whether we needed anything else. He appeared very interested in dealing with other couples , filling their waters , joking with them and spending a fair amount of time chatting with them. The oysters were disappointing a little too fishy...there was no horseradish to mask this. The charred octopus with mole was very good but the waiter did not ask whether the tuile was gluten free even after we asked him to inquire. The gnocchi with scallops was bland. The swordfish was good but the veggies that accompanied it were not stellar- not enough to justify the $28 price. The panna cotta was probably the best part of the meal.
One of the best meals in Pasadena ! Such a gem. The quality of ingredients is top notch and the chef Tim elevated them with the effortless ease of a master chef. Such an unbelievable treasure in Pasadena!
We have gone to Lost at Sea on a couple occasions in the past and enjoyed the food very much. This was my girl friend's birthday and her special request was that we eat there. I booked the reservation for 7:10 on last Sunday evening. We arrived to find the door locked and no one in the restaurant. Looking through the window, we saw the tables set and everything apparently ready for service, but no one there. I called the restaurant's phone number and no one answered. There was no sign on the door or other indication of what was going on. We waited 15 minutes outside, then walked over to another restaurant where we had dinner. When done, we walked back past Lost at Sea. It was still closed with no sign on the door. Needless to say, we were extremely disappointed.
Looking today at their web site, it appears that they are no longer open on Sundays. It says "Open every /Tuesday-Saturday for dinner". Why then did Open Table accept our reservation for 7/22, a Sunday.
I liked the venue a lot and the menu they have. The disappointing thing was that they ran out of 2 dishes from 4 we wanted to order. Those two are rated very high in Lost at Sea's reviews and it should be very obvious from procurement stand point that they are in demand. That is why I marked a lower overall rating. Food is great. If you are foodie, this is the right spot for you.
This is our second time here, our first experience was great. Today was a super hard miss for them. It took 28 minutes to get my appetizer, a Caesar salad. We were at the restaurant for just shy of an hour by the time my “prawn” gnocchi arrived. They were out of 2 things on the menus, normally acceptable under most circumstances but their menu is so small that the one item missing on the entree section accounts for 20% of the selection. The excuse was they had a busier then expected Friday, well today is a Saturday call your monger and get more product you had a whole day! My server; some guy, was just disgruntled to borderline rude, the other server that came by time to time a lovely lady who served us last time was the saving grace of the evening. My fiancées salmon was over cooked, according to him. I’m a chef myself and honestly I hate bashing on restaurants because I know what a negative review, but I know this place is better then they were tonight. I’ll update this review the next time we come. Please please let it be the positive experience we had the last time.
Really great experience.
Great and tasty food with creative cooking. We enjoyed every dishes. Service attendance was very courteous and helpful.
We had a party of 6 and shared different plates. Everything dish we ordered was fabulous -- the oysters were great, the Burrata & peaches were amazing and the gnocchi was tasty as well.
Outstanding food. Delicate, delicious, fresh and creative.
We loved all our dishes. Coffee was amazing.
Great place in Pasadena to eat. They have something for everyone. Friendly and knowledgeable. Good wine and beer list.
Service and food was excellent!
Great food, but limited menu. Need to serve bread. Very nice people and great service.
We never expected to find this gem in pasadena . Wow ...
Great food. Lovely chill vibe. Would go back again.
The service was excellent the food was amazing. And every part of our experience was exceptional. Thank you
Our food choices for dinner with appetizers were mostly tasty. And the potatoes that came with the flat iron steak were outrageously yummy. For our party the big drawback was the very limited menu choices
The food was fabulously tasty, creative and fresh. The service was efficient and friendly. We had an opportunity to meet the chef after we asked about the source of the fresh seafood in our dishes.
The sandwiches are spectacular -- the tuna was fresh and tasty. The dinner fishes are all meticulously hand crafted and noteworthy.
It's our first visit and we're happily surprised by the quality of our entrees. The roast chicken was juicy and flavorful. The barramundi was soft and delicious. The only disappointment was the ice cream sandwich dessert which didn't quite work. We'll return again.
Great restaurant. Food was so delicious! Our server was great. Price was right. Will definitely be back!
We had a great dinner at Lost at Sea. Not a huge selection, but everything we chose was delicious. Wait staff were attentive and helpful. I'll be back!
Tim Carey is the best. Period.
Service was great and food was excellent. We tried most of the small menu and loom forward to trying other items next time.
Loved it. Highly recommended
Melissa our server is always so pleasant and just a joy to see! The atmosphere and service are above the five stars.. make reservations!
It's a fun restaurant to hang out and catch up with friends. Food is good with not too much of selection, but the menu changes seasonally and give you good choices of seafood and meat.
I thought the food was very good and we had ordered several appetizers and salads before our entrees came. At a little over an hour and a half into our meal we were asked to “hurry it up” due to another pending reservation. In all my years of dining in restaurants around the world I have never been asked to hurry it up. I was embarrassed as I was on a first date and did not want to make an issue of it. If I had know this was their policy I would never have chosen this restaurant.
Excellent restaurant and chef owner.
Great! It all begins with the decor and feel of the place. Love that there isn’t loud music! Friendly. Food was perfect!
The food was excellent, very good quality, great presentation. The service was very good and our server was very attentive. My husband's pork chop was the best he had ever had, and he has had some really good ones. The menu is limited, but there were choices for everyone. We shared the salad and the desserts.
Menu isn’t as creative as before plus we had to wait exceptionally long for our meal. The waitress was very nice to apologize but absence of bread and other details made the long wait time feel even longer.
The steak with fries and the barramundi with the turnips were excellent. We enjoyed the shrimp ceviche as well. The fries did not arrive as the same time as the steak and the restaurant offered a complementary dessert. We would go back and strongly recommend the restaurant
The food quality was not as good as it used to be. The portion became so much smaller. Disappointed.
Lost at Sea was delicious!
