Fun evening with friends. Great food, lovely vibe. We found the portion sizes ample, contrary to a lot of reviews. We were recommended to order 12 dishes between 3 people. We ordered 9 dishes and couldn't finish them.
A great fun new establishment in Nottinghill Gate replacing Geales Fish 'n Chips.
The place had a great buzz and attractive and attentive young staff. The food was good and the odd-sounding blend of Japanese and Mexican actually worked very well indeed - it was tasty and interesting and very well presented.
However, we had to order a great number of dishes for the 4 of us and they arrived in a slightly random order and, on occasions, we were not 100% sure what we had ordered and what we were being served and what we were eating but it was good nonetheless and we realised after leaving that we never received the Tempura dishes that we ordered and I didn't check the bill - mea culpa.
The wine list was quite well constructed but, frankly, eye-wateringly expensive with a very good Lugana Riserva costing not +/- £40 but something like £65.00 which was just too much.
£433 for the 4 of us with 2 bottles and 2 glasses of over-priced wine struck me as being incredibly expensive and it was embarrassing to be charged 12.5% service (which is fine) but then the credit card machine invited to leave a further 15%, 20% or 25% tip - I left a 10% tip before realising that we'd already been charged 12.5% but, in fairness, they refunded straight away.....it's just naughty, though.
A great fun night, though, and good good and charming staff but at over £100 per head.....too much by 30% for the experience, tbh.
How did someone know to create a restaurant out of my two favorite things - sushi and tacos? And how did no one know to do this before?
I had been wanting to go to Los Mochis for quite some time and finally was able to get a table. My friend and I ordered the most delicious spicy margaritas - The Los Mochis Tommy's and some guacamole while we waited for our main dishes to arrive. Unfortunately, they had a problem with their order/computer system and we ended up waiting for over an hour. HOWEVER, the most amazing and kind general manager, Anthony, came to our table to apologise and did not allow us to pay for our meal. We felt extremely uncomfortable to have our dinner paid for but Anthony insisted and even offered us dessert which was delicious!! The cheesecake and chocolate cake was AMAZING - definitely must leave some space for dessert! We did leave a tip for the servers and will definitely be back again! Just the best atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food and drink!!
Thank you again ANTHONY!!!
It started with a booking confusion not created by me on the booking which shows been inflexible but I book for 3 and he had it for 2 but worked out at the end as I showed my email so he became flexible but stressed me. The food is excellent the drinks a good selection but the service very poor, the waiters need training to constant be attentive to the tables, it was a constant exercise trying to get them but there are to many tables for short space that can be rectified if the waiters have better access to the tables. There was also a language conflict some of the staff have problem communicating with English. So once for me was enough but the food was great.
Excellent food and service. We went there for our wedding anniversary and they really made us feel special.
The food lacked an oomph factor - promised flavor and failed to deliver. The service was terrible. And the next table was almost on top of my feet - overcrowded. Very disappointed
Food was so tasty, cocktails - superb choice, wonderful vibe going on. Cannot recommend enough
yummy California poke and tuna poke...😋🤩 fab 🍸pisco sour and shima Nergoni yummy....🤗🤩..very nosy and buzzing...I couldn't hear my friend's talking because we sat next to a big group of dinners...Thanks God we were moved upstairs to the bar area for our declicious desert matcha with white chocolate and coconut sorbet..😋🤩 This is my second visit in one week...absolutely love the food and atmospheres. Great staff very helpful love them all.🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
The service was excellent as were the food, drink and the atmosphere. The menu is a fusion between Mexican & Japanese and the cocktails are fantastic!
Food was excellent - fresh, well presented. Prices a little high, but it is London and the overall experience warrants the pricing. Service was a little lacking - ordered a second glass of wine that never came. One dish took over 40 minutes to come out - but they did remove that from our bill. A few kinks to work out, but overall a very nice experience. Will definitely come back again!
Great food! Perfect for the area!
Definitely will go back!
Bizarre experience. Food ok, though been done before and rather better elsewhere.
Staff were pompous and cold. The tall Manager was particularly poor at managing a complaint by us.
Don’t book for 8.15pm and expect a relaxing experience. Permanently hurried along with the threat of a closing kitchen. Asked about dessert mid main course. Hapless manager thought that was normal procedure. Dear me..
Pretty average food with less than average service. What a shame.
All the food was delicious, including the kids menu. Staff was helpful and friendly.
seating door lady unhelpful, staff helpful, food great taste range, sashimi wafer thin....fun place
Lovely place. Everything we tried was delicious
Service was a bit poor initially. Waiter spilled drinks on us and oddly no one seemed that bothered even though we didn’t make a big fuss. Took ages for them to get us napkins- they were more focused on cleaning the floor and we were told ‘ oh this happens sometimes.’ Got moved to a new table- wait staff there was much better and efficient. Music is a bit TOO loud for a restaurant hard to speak over all the noise
Restaurant is very good and food is delicious. However we were extremely disappointed during our last visit as it seemed we were not very welcome with our little baby.
We visited the restaurant on Saturday at 6 pm and we were constantly reminded we needed to leave by 8 pm, at 7.15 we tried to order more food and the manager refused saying the kitchen was too busy and we were not going to be ready to leave at 8 pm if more food was ordered.
I understand Saturday night might be for a different crowd and our intention was not staying to party with the baby but they were super rude.
We live next to the restaurant and the area is pretty residential and many families with kids leave around so perhaps the idea of a party style restaurant it’s not very good for that location.
Great lunch lots of fun food. A cool gastronomic experience with my food blogger friend.
I never write reviews but this experience was a little bit insane. We were anxious sitting in the restaurant due to the level of pandemonium going on. The first room we were sat in was so loud that I literally couldn’t here what the other person was saying even when they were shouting. It was so loud that we asked to move and were sat right by the open doors which was pretty cold. Our waiter was very very lovely but forgot quite a few things we asked for - this seemed to be a running theme with all the waiters as I could here people all around asking/complaining about forgotten things. This was just because there were way too many covers for the waiters to deal with and their growing panic was palpable 😅 on three instances waiters dropped trays of food, which is obviously fine but just showed how over exerted and stressed out they were. It was my mother’s birthday meal and in the end she asked to leave before dessert because it was such an uncomfortable dining experience. On the plus side, the food was pretty good (when it came - waiting times were fairly lengthy). This could be such a nice place if they very (very) drastically reduced their number of covers. It was a bit of a shambles with good (slow) food and a nice but overworked waiter.
Delicious food and great service. Love the decor and ambience. Can’t wait to come back to try more of the items on the menu!
Food great but totally marred by the fact they have tried to pack way to many covers in all over the restaurant and gave us less than five minutes warning that they needed the table back. We hadn’t finished eating and had to suggest an alternative as opposed to being offered one. We were moved to the lounge area which was again tomorrow packed for us plus dog. Stools too high for tables etc and then we were not offered any service when we did sit down so asked for the bill which took ten minutes to arrive!
A shame to end the evening like that. It’s clearly popular which is great to see but a little care taken as opposed to obviously ramming as many covers in when you’re paying £12 for two tacos, would go a long way.
Our waiter was lovely however (sorry I didn’t catch his name) and he took care of the dog.
Also.. you shouldn’t say you are dog friendly… there was no room for him to lie down!
A bit pricey! Not as much of a fusion as I expected BUT the food was of good quality
Deapite having booked and rang to say we will bring an additional guest and arriving very early and the restaurant being empty, they sat us on the worst place. After asking to move they refused not politely either. For the nexts guest arriving after us and asking for a change of table they was agreed. When we left the restaurant was still emptyish, so they could accommodate us.
The food is basically a couple of open tacos, the menus says large plates, the food is only good as a starter. Too expensive for what it is. Would not recommend it at all
Good vibes on a Friday night. Service horrible. We were sited 45 min late, the mains took 1h to be served... Food and drinks very average, nothing especial and portions really small for the price
Definitely a fun menu and cocktails. Service can be a bit improved - we had to specifically ask how much/ how the menu works. Also atmosphere could be made a bit more fun with slightly louder music
Food was great, however we were expecting a bit more fusion food. Flavours and some of the spices and seasoning you could tell were a mixture from both Japan and Mexico, however we were expecting a more vivid fusion of a taco and a sushi, something that from the moment it was put on your table, could tell you there was a mixture.
Service was a bit on the off side as well. With waiters arguing among them next to our table, and also they just didn’t seem happy at all to be there. You wouldn’t feel welcome if it wasn’t for the venue decour and food.
I would still highly recommend trying it.
Went for a friend’s birthday dinner. We enjoyed the delicious food and cocktails and would definitely recommend.
This restaurant has a potential, but sadly for now it's yet another place that is taking advantage of the location in a wrong way.
Food is tasteless, extremely overpriced, tiny portions. Cocktails contains very little alcohol.
Food was amazing, every dish ordered was full of flavour , overall variety of flavours and very tasty.
Cocktails were good too
Can’t go wrong with tacos and margaritas
Really great fusion idea and incredible ambience but sadly food was lacking. Presentation of food was impeccable and staff were very friendly but I felt taste was lacking, having had more delicious Mexican and Japanese food at other places in London. I felt portion sizes were very poor value for money but cocktails were delicious.
The margaritas were undrinkable - worst cocktails I've probably ever had. The maki rolls were fine, the tacos were soggy and underfulled. The lobster tacos had zero flavour. Definitely not worth the price you pay for the food and drink. Hostesses were rude but serving staff was great. Poor value and huge disappointment.
Amazing food.. service was a little random, dishes were brought out slowly and we had to ask for sugar with our coffee and also they brought one drink out at a time so for this ive given only 3* for service. The food however is probably some of the best I’ve eaten for a while! So los mochis is def worth a visit and also ask for an outside table even if it’s cold as these are the nicest tables and they have heaters and parasols 😍😍
Highly recommend. Delicious food, amazing cocktails, fun vibe, friendly staff. A great place to enjoy flavoursome sharing food with friends.
Great food and fantastic cocktails. Service was very very very rushed. One of our friend was running late and we have what time do we need to give the table back. Waiter has suggested it was 9pm and they couldn’t extend. This was ok for us. When our friend arrived waiter hasn’t even let us say hi, or let he look in the drink menu, demanded the drink order from her. After my friend settled the waiter came to ask for the food order. How can we order if our friend hasn’t even had a chance to look in the menu. We were trying to rush and choose, asked for few minutes. Guess what-he was back in less then in 2 minutes. There was no suggesting any dishes or helping with the menu what so ever, just pushing us to order. The food took some time to arrive. May be this is the reason to rush the order. Good was great! When we finished with our dinner and the bill arrived, it took the waiter some time to take payment even though we had cards on the table straight away. One more note to management and waiter: when you discuss our table, please be more discreet as I could hear waiter talking to manager about us.
Plates that sushi were served on were very big.
Overall place looks great, very good food, great cocktails but service needs improvement. And please ask your reception lady to smile.
Great food. Terrible service. Empty tables but no flexibility on table timings. Staff too busy rushing you off the table. Do better
Food was good but not amazing - potion sizes are rather small, which would be justifiable if the food was really special, but it's average quality. Really good pork with kimchi though, everything else was not enough value for money, especially the ceviche.
The food was some of the best I’ve had in London - loved the Mexican Japanese concept. Wonderful vegan options - we especially loved the tempura maki rolls and jackfruit tacos.
The food was decent, but the service was annoying/intrusive and there was no one there at noon on a Saturday. The restaurant was empty so we were unpleasantly surprised when a family with a little kid showed up an hour later and the staff decided to put them right behind our table.
Los Mochis is rated 4.3 stars by 124 OpenTable diners.
