Los Galanes is a unique Mexican restaurant located in the heart of Detroit. This restaurant is famous for creating a dish that has made the city's culinary scene famous. The dish is the Botana, and it was born in the kitchen of this renowned Southwest Detroit restaurant. The botana was invented in the mid 70's and is a mix between Canadian poutine, a Coney dog and Mexican culinary influences. Specifically, the botanas served here are fresh corn chips layered with a mixture of pinto beans and chorizo sausage then topped with green peppers, Muenster cheese, tomatoes, avocados and pickled jalapeños.Of course, that's not the only dish that Los Galanes serves. Other appetizers include quesadillas, burger nachos supreme and octopus sautéed in spicy garlic sauce. For entrées, Los Galanes specializes in tortas, special Mexican sandwiches that can be filled with chicken fajitas, carnitas or even eggs and chorizo.
