The wait staff while friendly was clearly in need of assistance as we did not get simple things like water refilled for long periods of time. The margaritas were horrible to say the least. Even after taking the tiniest sip, I asked the waiter to send it back and she simply said she couldn’t and I would still be charged for it. While I was not expecting an entirely new drink to replace it, she could have gone about it in another matter. I then asked for a regular margarita (and asked to tone down the sweetness) she said she couldn’t ask the bar to do that. Clearly annoyed by the response, I just asked for it anyway and when it arrived it was drinkable but still one of the worst margaritas I have had. If going for food and food only, it’s worth the price.
Literally came here because it was national margarita day and the margaritas stunk... they were probably the worst margaritas I have ever had. Being generous and giving them a 3 out of 5 stars because the food was good, but they need to recreate their drink menu and get a new bartender. The service was also really slow. Stood at the hostess stand for about 5 minutes before anyone showed up. Overall disappointing experience.
I was looking forward to trying Los Cuernos as i live in the area. I have to say i was disappointed in the overall experience. We ordered Margaritas and they gave them to us in plastic glasses, the server said they ran out of glasses. The food was okay, when my friend ordered her steak, she specifically asked for it to be well done as she doesn't like to see the blood and when she received the dish it had blood all over. The manager seemed to be in a bad mood.
Food continues to be tasty but they have a real non-customer-centric attitude. They refuse to cater to simple dietary restrictions, such as vegetarians, for instance. Hostess was actually really good when we last went, which is a very welcome change from our previous experiences. However, server was snippy when we requested a substitution that was clearly available on the menu plus got our order wrong. Has potential so hope they heed the constructive feedback.
Food was good as usual. Service was sub par. We were a large group and the server struggled to attend to everyone.
Worst food ever!
We keep ordering the shrimp and snapper because they're just too delicious. It comes with some salad, and a nice rice side. The service is 5 star. It's easy to find as it's on a main road, but it doesn't feel like a main road, and there's a pretty view. Make sure to tell the host or hostess that you have a reservation through OpenTable. Twice now, I've been told I wasn't at Los Cuernos, when I was. One of those times, I didn't mention the reservation; the second time, I did mentioned the reservation. Maybe the two companies have a quirk to work out. I wish they would because it kinda puts a damper on an otherwise great experience
I heard about this restaurant after going to La Taqueria Downtown and was so impressed. Great spot for delicious food in a more upscale scene. The service was fantastic and truly loved the location. Doesn't have the dive bar feel like La Taqueria but I will definitely be coming back.
Food is good and servers are friendly. However, they really need to 1) improve their front of restaurant staff who just continues to be short on customer service and 2) add more veggie options to the menu. Really unfortunate as this could have been a five star review.
Vibrant Mexican restaurant. Tacos are the best.
Food was good, quick service for lunch hours. Would definitely go back again
Great place. Music was a little loud for a business conversation, but it wasn’t overwhelming.
All the same great food and strong margaritas that I love from the Taqueria downtown, in a more upscale setting. Service was top-notch and friendly. And the prices aren't astronomical.
Noisy over priced and bad food. Four of us had different dishes but we came to the same conclusion. Plates filled with mushy flavourless stuff. Taco chips covered with gravy does not constitute good cooking! The music was sooo loud. They claimed to be upscale Mexican food. A taco bar would make better food and give more value. Lesson learned
The shrimp dish and the snapper dish were perfect, and we asked the waiter to give our compliments to the chef. They were spiced nicely, and accompained by a very good rice side. The outdoor seating is fun. It's along Washington Blvd. , which we like because it gives us lots of people watching. Eating inside is great too. We live nearby, so we've been there a few times since its recent opening, and have not been disappointed.
Took my parents here. Very delicious Mexican food. Great atmosphere. They put down waters, chips, and salsa immediately upon sitting down which is such a simple but surefire way to please the customer. I enjoyed the Cadillax Margarita and they made my dad a special drink since she wanted a mojito and they didn't have the ingredients for it (they made something with watermelon). Enjoyed the palomilla steak and chicken enchiladas. Very friendly waiter. Festive outside and at the bar area. I suggest parking in the Newport parking garage across the street.
The food is top notch and the service was just as good. Thanks to our server Samantha for a great meal!
Tried the steak tacos, spicy guac, and the snapper with rice. All three came out really well !
Ok food. Seem unable to serve an actually full bowl of chips but that's ok. Anytime you're there in the evening the bar is deafening and it's like you're eating in a club. Strong margaritas so after a while none of it matters.
We had a very nice time. food was good and so was the service. Thank you.
The environment is “cheesy” Mexican People want great Mexican food not ethnically prototypical restaurant that on one level is demeaning to Millennial Mexicans
Food is excellent. Service used to be terrible but has also been good the last couple of times. Host is getting better; manager can be a bit surly and just not very friendly or accommodating. Unfortunate as the food is just so good. The enchilada and the avocado tostada are standouts.
While the space is nice, they service was terrible. Our waiter clearly did not wish to be working and made mistakes with our order, the bar ran out of the 3 liquors we tried to order, and the food was just eh. The biggest insult is that at the last minute our party of 6 changed to 4 and instead of seating us, I had to log back into the OT app and change the reservation—while standing in front of the hostess. Taqueria on Grove is fine for the space and food, but if you are trying to be on the waterfront next to Batello and Ruth’s Chris, you better step up your game. I resent paying waterfront prices for basement style food.
We wanted to sit outside but the music was too loud. Our waiter was very good, unfortunately the food was not. The ‘spicy’ Guacamole was very thick and bland. The fish entree was dried out, badly needed some sauce. Only hot sauce is a jar that they share over and over with a serving spoon. I prefer a fresh potion specifically for my table. It was very disappointing.
Excellent waitress and hostess teams, and great food. However, we were seated outside and it started to rain - our waitress worked to get us a table inside, at her direction we went to a table to sit. An asset manager came along , asked what we were doing, told us he had people with reservations we had to get in line and wait. We told him our waitress checked and got us this table, he got angrier and said no she had no right you can’t be seated. Hostess came over and got us reseated in time for our food to be delivered.
The Service and quality of the food are very good. The location of the restaurant is very good, close to a parking lot for easy access.
Great place for a quick lunch during working hours. The Steak Tacos were perfectly spiced for somebody that has an appetite for spicey! Service was excellent, fore-warning me about the spiciness giving me the opportunity to defer. NOT. Would only recommend keeping the ambiance latin. Somebody seemed to switch the music from Mariachi to Pop. Overall, Highly recommend.
Terrible food, terrible service. The Chile Rellenos was tasteless, and had toothpicks hidden inside it. The side dish of beans had a dead fly in it. When we brought it to the waiter's attention, he shrugged. Forget apologies, he basically said what do you expect! The waiter's attitude was like the customers were a big burden he had to carry.
not at all authentic. some weird concoction. dint like the taste at all
If you've been to Taqueria off Grand and love the food than you will not be disappointed with Los Cuernos. The food items are the same however there is an extended cocktail list and plenty of seats. The service was amazing .
Food was very good and got seated right away. We got to sit outside however it took forever to get the waiters attention once it got full and we could not even get water because they took forever my husband asked for water the lady said I’ll come back with more and never did.
Once we got over the fact that we'd been ignorant about the difference between TexMex and real Mexican, we enjoyed it immensely. We just didn't get our stupid-American nachos, and the only dessert was flan. The rice was to-die-for, the guac was so fresh that we thought it was made real-time just for us, and the snapper was perfect. We'll be back.
Service was a bit slow initially and they didn’t have Diet soda
The restaurant is very loud, the service is below average & slow
One Advice - DO NOT GO. I have not seen a place more mismanaged than this place. Not the fault of Chef I think, but THE GROUND STAFF DOES NOT WANT YOU HERE. SERIOUSLY.
THEY DO NOT SERVE ANYTHING EASY - NOT EVEN WATER. Every Request has to be made 20 times. The team is very arrogant and want to shut down the place. May be they all hate the owner and took it upon themselves to take revenge by doing their best to treat customers like slaves.
We spoke with manager to give the feedback and he wanted to convince us that they provided us best of their service and it was somehow all our fault. And I want to send this person back to school to learn the basic concept of “Customer Service”.
Anyway - coming down to all the incidents:
- We were told entire place is reserved when we could see all tables were empty. When we politely requested they made faces and didn’t even reply. So rather than waiting we went to opentable and made a reservation and then we were seated ... Still the place is list a ghost town.
- Then we requested water, and waited 15 mins and then we requested water - and then they gave us menus and asked for order - and we asked for water again and ordered our drinks. And we got drinks in another 15 mins and then we asked for water. So we have been there for 45 mins but no sign of water.
- Let’s move from Water to Drinks. We had few drinks and then we wanted to move our table to inside as it was getting chilly outside. This is all when the place is still half-empty. We were told we are fully reserved do we can’t move you anywhere + you aren’t ordering food. Then we went to OpenTable and took another reservation - again all reservations were open.
The team was lying at our faces - and said please close the check and go. At which point we gave up and left .... So many other things to write but the bottom line - let’s go to anyplace but this place.
Extremely poor service - the host and the manager were more interested in making a point to their customers than serving them.
Only good thing was Salsa.
Food was excellent, steak tacos are out of this world!! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes tacos. Atmosphere is great & it’s located across from a parking garage which is very convenient.
If you like mexican food then you can't go wrong with this restaurant. It's owned by the same owners as Taqueria. It's a good sit down option with good cocktails
Loved the tongue tacos, but the beans were too liquid. Service was ok. Recommend the tacos.
