Noted as offering the best margaritas in the entire capital district, Los Cuates in Alexandria is situated in a historic neighborhood and designed with great energy and color. Not only is the setting going to stimulate, but the extensive menu is a delight too.
After ordering a signature drink upon arrival at Los Cuates in Alexandria, be sure to try one of the irresistible appetizers. Beef queso con chile is a great choice, but many love the ceviche and the guacamole. As a fine dining establishment, Los Cuates in Alexandria serves impressive soups and salads, entrees and sides too. Whether a fan of poultry, beef, pork, seafood or a vegetarian, there are too many choices to count, and each is delicious.
Everything you’d expect from a cheesy Mexican restaurant from the Tijuana decor, mariachi music, mediocre food, and hot or miss service. But sometimes that’s exactly what you’re looking for. Food selection is large - all of the expected favorites.
The food was good, but the drinks are way overpriced. If you are coming just to eat it is fine, but don't come to drink...you will leave poor.
You MUST have a frozen margarita and tacos! They are delicious! I would absolutely return with friends and for happy hour!
Love this place. Great drinks and fabulous food!!!
Los Cuates is always good option for tasty Mexican fare. The food is consistently good and the portions are generous. Drinks as always will add to your bill especially if you're not careful with the margarita size options.
They need to turn the air on, it was hot. IT'S SUMMER
Fabulous authentic Mexican food in casual surroundings! Great margarita's and queso!
Very slow. Took more than 40 minutes from order to get food for 3 people.
The restaurant is cute and convenient, and service was good, so we really wanted to like it--but the food was absolutely horrible. Both of our meals were massively overcooked--requested-rare steak came out well done, and my chicken was so overcooked it tasted like rubber. When you're paying 17.00+ for Mexican, that is unacceptable. (Not to mention the portions were underwhelming.) I would be willing to mark as a one-off and not judge the entire restaurant, but when I mentioned this place to a friend they recounted a similarly bad food experience--except theirs came out raw instead of overdone. I'm usually not one to leave bad reviews, but this was especially disappointing.
Los Cuates were great. The service was excellent. Even though we came in with a Groupon the service was still phenomenal. The food was great. We had the parillada for 2 and it was plenty and then some. Everything tasted delicious.
Wanted to celebrate Cinco de Mayo here. So I made an open table reservation 3 days in advance for 8pm. Arrived at 7:50pm was told all Open table reservations were behind schedule over an hour. So we ended up going somewhere else. (party of 2)
The restaurant "forgot" to turn off reservations for Cinco de Mayo on Open Table. We made a reservation for a party of 7. I called around noon the day of the reservation to change it to a party of 8. They said no problem and said we were all set. When we got there, they informed us they messed up EVERY reservation and blamed Open Table. We were told it would be a two hour wait. I spoke to someone 6 hours earlier and was told we were all set. I do not recommend and neither does my friend Stephen.
THEY DID NOT HONOR ANYONE's RESERVATIONS ON CINCO DE MAYO DESPITE SOME OF US MAKING THEM OVER A MONTH IN ADVANCE. Unacceptable.
Had reservations for Cinco de Mayo. Got there at my reservation time of 6:30pm to find a line out there door. Walked straight to the hostess stand where I was informed that they were not honoring any reservations that had been made, the line was of other people who had reservations and were just waiting on a first-come-first-serve basis. Completely left me in a jam as there are only two other Mexican restaurants in Old Town and both of them were equally packed by that time of night. Even a email/phone call to let me know they were not going to honor my reservation a couple of hours before would have allowed me to change my dining plans.
The restaurant was not honoring any opentable reservations. After waiting almost an hour after our Open table reservation time, we just left. There was a long line of diners waiting for their reservations as well. I think we deserve some sort of compensation for making a reservation that was not honored.
We made a reservation for 6 through OpenTable, got there at 5:45. We had to wait until 6:45 for a table because they didn't honor our reservation through your company.
We have a 530p reservation did not get seat until 7p
Decided to visit Los Cuates for Sunday Brunch with family and friends. The service seemed pretty good at the beginning, however took them over an hour to serve the food. When the orders finally came out 2 of the orders were wrong. The appetizer was pretty good and the servers kept our glasses full throughout. I would not be returning to Los Cuates anytime soon.
One of my new favorite spots. The food is absolutely amazing! Never a disappointment.
When you are in Alexandria and have a craving for authentic Mexican food this is a place for you. Enjoyed the margaritas and the food. With a wide variety of items to pick from. The chips and salsa could use an upgrade.
Generous portions of food. Noise level made it difficult to have a conversation. Salsa was too watery.
We wanted Mexican food. Loved that this was in old town. Was fun- people packed in and very noisy. My skinny margarita was great! Hot chips.
Nothing special about this place. Service was ok, but food was average.
Love the food and service. Tha Margarita's are really good!
Bought a Groupon for the restaurant. Everyone enjoyed their food and the Margarita's were delicious as well. It was well worth the visit.
The lemonade is OUT OF THIS WORLD amazing! I can't get enough of Los Cuates!
We had made a reservation for 6:30pm on saturday to avoid having to wait to be seated. Well, we arrived and another party had also a reservation for same time. We waited at least another 25 mins to finally be seated. Our server was very nice and friendly, but it took forever for our drinks to be brought to the table. We had to remind her about them. Food is always great, prices are very competitive and atmosphere was great. It is small and it can get bit cramped at times. Evidently, the 6:30pm slot was double booked. This should not happen when the restaurant is at its maximun capacity. They should manage reservations better to avoid these type of situation. Best times to go there weekdays for dinner or late lunch over the weekends.
My wife and I found Los Cuates a couple of weeks ago. It will now be a staple in our date nights.
Delicious plate of masitas de cerdo with white rice, black beans and ripened fried plantains. Spectacular. Big plate. So worth it. The Cadillac margarita is really good.
Love Los Cuates! I've been dining here since they opened their Old Town location, so it's good to have them on Open Table. They serve pretty good Mexican food at reasonable prices, & the margaritas are decent as well. Worth the visit if you happen to be strolling King St.
Food was good. Wait staff very friendly. Margarita was good.
Has a great location. Ate in the bar area. For a Tuesday night it looked slow, service was also slow. The Nachoes were good and maybe it was an off night for the kitchen. Seriously questioned if there was any tequila in my marg. I could not recommend this location as good Mexican.
Seating was quick and painless, even though it was relatively busy when we showed up.
Everything was delicious, including the Margaritas and Enchiladas. Waitstaff we accommodating for special requests.. Only complaint about the food was the rice was on the dry side.
The food was great and the drinks were awesome. Also the servers had great customer service. I recommend getting the groupon so you can spend less on food and more on the drinks. They also have happy hour during the week.
Food was good but had been there another time previously and it was better.
